Each review score is between 1-10. To get the overall score that you see, we add up all the review scores we’ve received and divide that total by the number of review scores we’ve received. We are currently testing a weighted review system in Malta, Iceland, Australia, Greece, Brazil and North Carolina. For properties in these regions, the more recent the review, the bigger the impact on the total review score calculation. In addition, guests can give separate ‘subscores’ in crucial areas, such as location, cleanliness, staff, comfort, facilities, value for money and free Wi-Fi. Note that guests submit their subscores and their overall scores independently, so there’s no direct link between them.
You can review an Accommodation that you booked through our Platform if you stayed there or if you arrived at the property but didn’t actually stay there. To edit a review you’ve already submitted, please contact our Customer Service team.
We have people and automated systems that specialise in detecting fake reviews submitted to our Platform. If we find any, we delete them and, if necessary, take action against whoever is responsible.
Anyone else who spots something suspicious can always report it to our Customer Service team, so our Fraud team can investigate.
Ideally, we would publish every review we receive, whether positive or negative. However, we won’t display any review that includes or refers to (among other things):
To make sure reviews are relevant, we may only accept reviews that are submitted within 3 months of checking out, and we may stop showing reviews once they’re 36 months old – or if the Accommodation has a change of ownership.
An Accommodation may choose to reply to a review.
When you see multiple reviews, the most recent ones will be at the top, subject to a few other factors (what language a review is in, whether it’s just a rating or contains comments as well, etc.). If you like, you can sort and/or filter them (by time of year, review score, etc.).
We sometimes show external review scores from other well-known travel websites. We make it clear when we’ve done this.
These guidelines and standards aim to keep the content on Booking.com relevant and family-friendly without limiting expression of strong opinions. They are also applicable regardless of the sentiment of the comment.
Contributions should be travel related. The most helpful contributions are detailed and help others make better decisions. Please don’t include personal, political, ethical, or religious commentary. Promotional content will be removed and issues concerning Booking.com’s services should be routed to our Customer Service or Accommodation Service teams.
Contributions should be appropriate for a global audience. Please avoid using profanity or attempts to approximate profanity with creative spelling, in any language. Comments and media that include 'hate speech', discriminatory remarks, threats, sexually explicit remarks, violence, and the promotion of illegal activity are not permitted.
All content should be genuine and unique to the guest. Reviews are most valuable when they are original and unbiased. Your contribution should be yours. Booking.com property partners should not post on behalf of guests or offer incentives in exchange for reviews. Attempts to bring down the rating of a competitor by submitting a negative review will not be tolerated.
Respect the privacy of others. Booking.com will make an effort to obscure email addresses, telephone numbers, website addresses, social media accounts, and similar details.
The opinions expressed in contributions are those of Booking.com customers and properties and not of Booking.com. Booking.com does not accept responsibility or liability for any reviews or responses. Booking.com is a distributor (without any obligation to verify) and not a publisher of these comments and responses.
By default, reviews are sorted based on the date of the review and on additional criteria to display the most relevant reviews, including but not limited to: your language, reviews with text, and non-anonymous reviews. Additional sorting options may be available (by type of traveller, by score, etc.).

United KingdomLynne did a great job ensuring that we could get to the location with ease, and offered us helpful advice on planning local exploration. Lynne and Clara are both very welcoming hosts. The cottage itself is absolutely beautiful, offering access to a large living room area, which always has a warming roaring fire thanks to Lynne's persistence. The room we had included a great view of Buckden Pike, and featured all the amenities that you might need or appreciate. We'd like to thank Clara the dog for patiently waiting for us outside our door to greet us in the morning, and guide us down to breakfast :) The breakfast itself was fantastic; bacon cooked perfectly, velvety scrambled eggs, and the best black pudding we've ever tasted. We were also offered cereals, yoghurt, and fruit before the main meal, many of which were local food such as the condiments and granola. We'd like to thank Lynne for taking care of us by ensuring that we had a restaurant reservation at local restaurants. Lynne is very fortunate to have two great local pubs close by (the George Inn and Buck Inn) which serve great food, including fresh fish every day. Buckden is a beautiful place, especially for avid hikers. Lynne, we really appreciate your consist thoughtfulness.

She even has a boot drier! There was a lovely fire and an amazing breakfast set me up for the day of walking ahead. I will definitely go back.

United KingdomLynne and Clara welcomed us into their beautiful home. The facilities were excellent with a well appointed bedroom and a huge bathroom, and real milk in the mini fridge!! Lynne contacted us before arrival to ask whether we wanted twin or a super kingsize bed which was a lovely touch. The bed was incredibly comfortable. The breakfast was excellent and sociable, giving us the opportunity to meet the other guests. Lynne also kindly made a packed lunch for us for the day we left. Nothing was too much trouble for her - even contacting the local pub to book us a table for a meal in the evening. Probably the best thing though was meeting Clara the dog....she was absolutely adorable!

Lynne has done an incredible job with all the reservations. The room and bathroom were very clean and comfortable with a great coffee machine. We arrived soaked to the skin and Lynne helped to dry all our running kit (including shoes using the special shoe dryer). The guest lounge was lovely with the log burner running. Breakfast was also very good….a great stopover on our Dales running trip.

United KingdomMore hanging space for clothes would have been nice when there for a week, but that is really nit picking, as we cannot think of any negatives.
Our bedroom had a wonderful view and was pretty much perfect. The bathroom was spacious and well appointed with the real bonus of having natural light. Lynne was an excellent host and served us with lovely breakfasts every day of our stay. Clara, her friendly dog, also kept us amused. The Buck Inn is almost next door and is highly recommended. The location in Upper Wharfedale provides good access to a range of fabulous walks. Lynne even has a boot drying machine which proved very useful. Almost certainly the best B&B that we have had the pleasure of staying at in England.
