Each review score is between 1-10. To get the overall score that you see, we add up all the review scores we’ve received and divide that total by the number of review scores we’ve received. We are currently testing a weighted review system in Malta, Iceland, Australia, Greece, Brazil and North Carolina. For properties in these regions, the more recent the review, the bigger the impact on the total review score calculation. In addition, guests can give separate ‘subscores’ in crucial areas, such as location, cleanliness, staff, comfort, facilities, value for money and free Wi-Fi. Note that guests submit their subscores and their overall scores independently, so there’s no direct link between them.
You can review an Accommodation that you booked through our Platform if you stayed there or if you arrived at the property but didn’t actually stay there. To edit a review you’ve already submitted, please contact our Customer Service team.
We have people and automated systems that specialise in detecting fake reviews submitted to our Platform. If we find any, we delete them and, if necessary, take action against whoever is responsible.
Anyone else who spots something suspicious can always report it to our Customer Service team, so our Fraud team can investigate.
Ideally, we would publish every review we receive, whether positive or negative. However, we won’t display any review that includes or refers to (among other things):
To make sure reviews are relevant, we may only accept reviews that are submitted within 3 months of checking out, and we may stop showing reviews once they’re 36 months old – or if the Accommodation has a change of ownership.
An Accommodation may choose to reply to a review.
When you see multiple reviews, the most recent ones will be at the top, subject to a few other factors (what language a review is in, whether it’s just a rating or contains comments as well, etc.). If you like, you can sort and/or filter them (by time of year, review score, etc.).
We sometimes show external review scores from other well-known travel websites. We make it clear when we’ve done this.
These guidelines and standards aim to keep the content on Booking.com relevant and family-friendly without limiting expression of strong opinions. They are also applicable regardless of the sentiment of the comment.
Contributions should be travel related. The most helpful contributions are detailed and help others make better decisions. Please don’t include personal, political, ethical, or religious commentary. Promotional content will be removed and issues concerning Booking.com’s services should be routed to our Customer Service or Accommodation Service teams.
Contributions should be appropriate for a global audience. Please avoid using profanity or attempts to approximate profanity with creative spelling, in any language. Comments and media that include 'hate speech', discriminatory remarks, threats, sexually explicit remarks, violence, and the promotion of illegal activity are not permitted.
All content should be genuine and unique to the guest. Reviews are most valuable when they are original and unbiased. Your contribution should be yours. Booking.com property partners should not post on behalf of guests or offer incentives in exchange for reviews. Attempts to bring down the rating of a competitor by submitting a negative review will not be tolerated.
Respect the privacy of others. Booking.com will make an effort to obscure email addresses, telephone numbers, website addresses, social media accounts, and similar details.
The opinions expressed in contributions are those of Booking.com customers and properties and not of Booking.com. Booking.com does not accept responsibility or liability for any reviews or responses. Booking.com is a distributor (without any obligation to verify) and not a publisher of these comments and responses.
By default, reviews are sorted based on the date of the review and on additional criteria to display the most relevant reviews, including but not limited to: your language, reviews with text, and non-anonymous reviews. Additional sorting options may be available (by type of traveller, by score, etc.).

United KingdomThe TV could do with an update and the last flight of stairs are rather steep so wouldn't recommend the top floor if you have any mobility issues.
Amazing value hotel. Bed was super comfy. Room was small but cosy. Loved the touch of caftiere and oat milk. Close to local shops and cafes. Very quiet at night. Great shower. Room was clean.

United KingdomLack of parking. We realised that there were limited spaces outside the hotel but were also led to believe that there would be on-road parking nearby if the hotel spaces were unavailable. Unfortunately we couldn’t get one of the (very limited) spaces outside the hotel and everywhere else nearby is either residents only or Ringo (4 hours max). The hotel needs to be more transparent about this. Great if you’re not needing parking but if you are then be aware!
Excellent value, great location, clean & comfortable, nice staff.

United KingdomI had dinner in-house which was pricey but good. Sleeping late was not an option on the Sunday as housekeeping start on the rooms early.
The room was quiet as the hotel is set off the road slightly and I was on a high floor. My daughter was able to nap on Saturday afternoon with a wedding on downstairs so the old fashioned thick walls did their stuff! The rooms were all comfortable and the reception staff were very friendly and helpful. Also the staff in the restaurant. This boutique hotel has character and a helpful, no frills feel to it.

United KingdomThe room we stayed in was comfortable but the bathroom needs a complete refit, big stain on carpet under the desk, and a picture missing on the wall.
Great location, hotel has a nice feel, good breakfast, a little bit shabby at the edges but still very nice.

United KingdomWe were on the top floor, and the lack of a lift was far from ideal! The first flights of stairs were fine, but the last short steep spiral bit challenged!
The location and the staff were both excellent for what we wanted.

United KingdomOne of our single rooms was very small, the hotel did ask if I would like to change but as i was only there for three nights i declined. Although it was small it had everything I needed for a great stay.
The staff was lovely and very helpful, the rooms was clean and location was excellent

United KingdomBathroom looks fine at first glance, but genuinely a little tired, and needs updating. A tear to the Lino, and a toilet that took ages to replenish the cistern. Fine for the price I paid, but falling behind what people expect.
Location is superb, and why I keep returning. Nice staff on arrival, and also on departure. And real coffee and a cafetière in the room is a big thumbs up from me. Wifi, and sockets near the bed too.

United KingdomI would have liked a little more information available in the room, about the hotel and the surrounding area.
The hotel was in an excellent location - right in the heart of Clifton village, a stone's throw from the Suspension Bridge and a short bus ride from the centre of the city. Communication with the hotel before my stay was excellent, and check-in was straightforward. The room was comfortable and had nearly everything that I required. Overall, I was very pleased with this choice, and will stay there again.

United KingdomSqueaky floorboards which made it tricky to move quietly at night without disturbing others!
The staff were all exemplary and truly understood guests’ needs. The breakfast was absolutely excellent, as were the staff in the dining room each morning. We liked the use of the open area walls for exhibiting artwork.

United KingdomHad a single room which was great EXCEPT it was in the basement directly beneath the bar. This meant that it was very noisy as you could hear people, music and EVERY scrape of a chair leg. There was little point in going to bed until the bar closed! My daughter had an upstairs single room which was great!
Beds and rooms nice. Nice bar and very nice and helpful staff. Great location. Lovely building

United KingdomSingle room in basement was subject to noise disturbance from bar and breakfast room on floor above, nearby domestic staff area and communal toilet. Too much hollandaise sauce on eggs florentine.
Quiet location but still had a buzz to it. Interesting shops to browse nearby. Cafetiere coffee and fresh fruit in room where a nice touch.

FranceFrom the downsides, the door is not well sound proofed and you can hear any noise from the corridor which woke me up multiple times during the night. This problem is very common in hotels though. The buffet part of the breakfast is not extraordinary and even though I liked the cooked breakfast I found that 16£ is a little too expensive for what it was.
The hotel is in a nice location, there is a bus stop just in front of it and it's only 20 minutes walk to the University of Bristol. My room was small but clean and cozy. The staff at the reception and in the breakfast room were friendly and helpful. The cooked breakfast was delicious. Overall, I think it's a great value for money.
