Each review score is between 1-10. To get the overall score that you see, we add up all the review scores we’ve received and divide that total by the number of review scores we’ve received. We are currently testing a weighted review system in Malta and Iceland (excluding hotel and vacation rental chains). For properties in these countries, the more recent the review, the bigger the impact on the total review score calculation. In addition, guests can give separate ‘subscores’ in crucial areas, such as location, cleanliness, staff, comfort, facilities, value for money and free Wi-Fi. Note that guests submit their subscores and their overall scores independently, so there’s no direct link between them.
You can review an Accommodation that you booked through our Platform if you stayed there or if you arrived at the property but didn’t actually stay there. To edit a review you’ve already submitted, please contact our Customer Service team.
We have people and automated systems that specialise in detecting fake reviews submitted to our Platform. If we find any, we delete them and, if necessary, take action against whoever is responsible.
Anyone else who spots something suspicious can always report it to our Customer Service team, so our Fraud team can investigate.
Ideally, we would publish every review we receive, whether positive or negative. However, we won’t display any review that includes or refers to (among other things):
To make sure reviews are relevant, we may only accept reviews that are submitted within 3 months of checking out, and we may stop showing reviews once they’re 36 months old – or if the Accommodation has a change of ownership.
An Accommodation may choose to reply to a review.
When you see multiple reviews, the most recent ones will be at the top, subject to a few other factors (what language a review is in, whether it’s just a rating or contains comments as well, etc.). If you like, you can sort and/or filter them (by time of year, review score, etc.).
We sometimes show external review scores from other well-known travel websites. We make it clear when we’ve done this.
These guidelines and standards aim to keep the content on Booking.com relevant and family-friendly without limiting expression of strong opinions. They are also applicable regardless of the sentiment of the comment.
Contributions should be travel related. The most helpful contributions are detailed and help others make better decisions. Please don’t include personal, political, ethical, or religious commentary. Promotional content will be removed and issues concerning Booking.com’s services should be routed to our Customer Service or Accommodation Service teams.
Contributions should be appropriate for a global audience. Please avoid using profanity or attempts to approximate profanity with creative spelling, in any language. Comments and media that include 'hate speech', discriminatory remarks, threats, sexually explicit remarks, violence, and the promotion of illegal activity are not permitted.
All content should be genuine and unique to the guest. Reviews are most valuable when they are original and unbiased. Your contribution should be yours. Booking.com property partners should not post on behalf of guests or offer incentives in exchange for reviews. Attempts to bring down the rating of a competitor by submitting a negative review will not be tolerated.
Respect the privacy of others. Booking.com will make an effort to obscure email addresses, telephone numbers, website addresses, social media accounts, and similar details.
The opinions expressed in contributions are those of Booking.com customers and properties and not of Booking.com. Booking.com does not accept responsibility or liability for any reviews or responses. Booking.com is a distributor (without any obligation to verify) and not a publisher of these comments and responses.
By default, reviews are sorted based on the date of the review and on additional criteria to display the most relevant reviews, including but not limited to: your language, reviews with text, and non-anonymous reviews. Additional sorting options may be available (by type of traveller, by score, etc.).

ItalyThe bathroom: it was really in a bad shape. Almost shocking considering the price of the room. I understand it's in Oxford, but...
The people working here are lovely. Very good breakfast. I really appreciated the fact that there was fresh fruit, served separately: a bowl with strawberries, one with melon and one with grapes, which I think is much better than having one big fruit salad. I liked the cooked breakfast very much and I was pleasantly surprised with the attention to detail: e.g. warm plates. Location is good: very close to the train station.

United StatesLet’s face it, it’s old and sometimes sounds like it. Mattess could stand to be replaced.
We loved the location, the staff (Andy was particularly helpful), allowing us to keep our luggage there after checkout, and the breakfast!!

United StatesWe initially had an issue with the radiator not working in our room, but the staff were able to fix the problem. We had to leave the water running for some time before the water got hot in the bathroom sink and shower. Apparently there is not much that can be done about this because of the way the pipes are configured. There is some construction going on around the railway bridge near the hotel, but it did not bother us.
We enjoyed our stay at the River Hotel. It is in a convenient location next to the River Thames, with about a 10 minute walk to central Oxford. There is a nice pub only one block away. Our room was clean and comfortable. The staff was very friendly and helpful. Breakfast was excellent. There was ample space to park our car. Overall, pretty good value for money.

United KingdomThe decor was very dated, especially in the bedrooms. The standard of cleanliness in the corridors and bathrooms could have been a little higher. The check-in could have been friendlier, although the staff were friendly at other times.
The location couldn't be better, 2 minutes walk from the station and overlooking the river. The breakfast was excellent, served in a room with bay windows overlooking the garden and the river, including poached eggs with nice soft yolks, with sausage, beans, toast, cereal and fruit. The room had a full private bathroom, and the hotel had an iron which was useful.

United StatesThe hotel was in an awkward place for a cab to come to because of the construction, but all of the listing sites did mention this, so it was no surprise. I needed a softer bed because of back problems, which why I was switching hotels in the first place, but this one was equally as hard as the first one. And because I am old and my bones are crumbling, a lift would have been nice. Last, when I got up to the room, there were lots of dead bugs on the inner window sills and in the bathtub. They just needed to be swept up, but as a guest, I didn’t want to be the one to have to do it.
The mid century modern look was pretty cool and quirky. I could look out my window at the Thames. I loved the English Breakfast as well as the lovely dining room it was served in. The staff were very friendly and accommodating. I would stay again, but maybe ask for a room on the first floor with, perhaps a softer bed.

United KingdomThe room size was quite small, as a result there was limited space in both the bedroom one the bathroom.
The breakfast was very good and the location was perfect for spending a weekend in Oxford. It was very useful to have free parking on the hotel site

United KingdomAt present there are major works taking place near the station, so it's a bit messy, but it does not hamper pedestrians.
The central location of the hotel, and next to the river Easy walking distance of the main central area, and very close to the Hop On Hop Off excursion bus

United KingdomThe room was warm - as I could not open a window, I do wonder whether it might be too warm in the summer months? But as I stayed here in February, this was not something which was a problem for me
The hotel's location was perfect; just a 5 minute walk from the train station and 10 minutes from the city centre. It is located on a busy street, so I was happy walking alone back to the hotel even after dark. The breakfast was excellent, the staff very friendly and my room, although small, contained all I needed. The hotel's garden is right by the Thames; even in February I did spend a short time sat enjoying the peace of the river. I am sure this must be a very popular spot for guests in the summer months.
