Each review score is between 1-10. To get the overall score that you see, we add up all the review scores we’ve received and divide that total by the number of review scores we’ve received. We are currently testing a weighted review system in Malta and Iceland (excluding hotel and vacation rental chains). For properties in these countries, the more recent the review, the bigger the impact on the total review score calculation. In addition, guests can give separate ‘subscores’ in crucial areas, such as location, cleanliness, staff, comfort, facilities, value for money and free Wi-Fi. Note that guests submit their subscores and their overall scores independently, so there’s no direct link between them.
You can review an Accommodation that you booked through our Platform if you stayed there or if you arrived at the property but didn’t actually stay there. To edit a review you’ve already submitted, please contact our Customer Service team.
We have people and automated systems that specialise in detecting fake reviews submitted to our Platform. If we find any, we delete them and, if necessary, take action against whoever is responsible.
Anyone else who spots something suspicious can always report it to our Customer Service team, so our Fraud team can investigate.
Ideally, we would publish every review we receive, whether positive or negative. However, we won’t display any review that includes or refers to (among other things):
To make sure reviews are relevant, we may only accept reviews that are submitted within 3 months of checking out, and we may stop showing reviews once they’re 36 months old – or if the Accommodation has a change of ownership.
An Accommodation may choose to reply to a review.
When you see multiple reviews, the most recent ones will be at the top, subject to a few other factors (what language a review is in, whether it’s just a rating or contains comments as well, etc.). If you like, you can sort and/or filter them (by time of year, review score, etc.).
We sometimes show external review scores from other well-known travel websites. We make it clear when we’ve done this.
These guidelines and standards aim to keep the content on Booking.com relevant and family-friendly without limiting expression of strong opinions. They are also applicable regardless of the sentiment of the comment.
Contributions should be travel related. The most helpful contributions are detailed and help others make better decisions. Please don’t include personal, political, ethical, or religious commentary. Promotional content will be removed and issues concerning Booking.com’s services should be routed to our Customer Service or Accommodation Service teams.
Contributions should be appropriate for a global audience. Please avoid using profanity or attempts to approximate profanity with creative spelling, in any language. Comments and media that include 'hate speech', discriminatory remarks, threats, sexually explicit remarks, violence, and the promotion of illegal activity are not permitted.
All content should be genuine and unique to the guest. Reviews are most valuable when they are original and unbiased. Your contribution should be yours. Booking.com property partners should not post on behalf of guests or offer incentives in exchange for reviews. Attempts to bring down the rating of a competitor by submitting a negative review will not be tolerated.
Respect the privacy of others. Booking.com will make an effort to obscure email addresses, telephone numbers, website addresses, social media accounts, and similar details.
The opinions expressed in contributions are those of Booking.com customers and properties and not of Booking.com. Booking.com does not accept responsibility or liability for any reviews or responses. Booking.com is a distributor (without any obligation to verify) and not a publisher of these comments and responses.
By default, reviews are sorted based on the date of the review and on additional criteria to display the most relevant reviews, including but not limited to: your language, reviews with text, and non-anonymous reviews. Additional sorting options may be available (by type of traveller, by score, etc.).

United KingdomThe room was dated and the facilities quite basic, with random furnishings and no bedside table or shelf. The bed linen was not ironed which is just unacceptable. The bath towels weren’t great either and no hand towels available. Breakfast was again very basic, continental and self service, absolutely nothing homemade and no nice touches to make it at least interesting, especially if not prepared to cook for guests.
The location was ideal for our trip. We just needed a bed for one night while visiting friends who lived nearby.

United KingdomHonestly, the only thing we would say is pint glasses for water, but that's only because we're used to having a pint glass of water next to us for bed.
Wonderful host, wonderful room. We got the deluxe double suite and it was so cosy! Had everything we needed!

United KingdomThe host took forever to answer the door,,I apologised for being a little early and she very rudely opened the front door and walked away. She was very passive aggressive and used awful language during a discussion about the reduction of rooms available. Very unprofessional!! No breakfast or coffee available No patio area outside the room Rooms are very small and clustered
Not alot to like. No coffee was made in the morning and very little choice of continental breakfast. No out door patio area connected to the room as quoted and described on booking.com Very disappointed on arrival

United KingdomI really can't find a fault with the place.
Breakfast(not cooked!) was plentiful and varied, for food and drinks. And Julia made it clear if we needed anything further to just ask. Rooms also had tea making facilities. rooms were a good size, and well furnished for our needs. Bathroom was clean, and I was glad that she explained how to use the shower, as there was a button to press just above the tap. I felt it was ideal for our needs. even the parking wasn't a challenge if you're careful.

United KingdomROOM - Poor lighting in the bathroom & none over the only mirror in bedroom, electric shower very difficult to regulate, no electric outlet close enough to allow use of the mirror whilst drying hair. Plastic mini coffee creamer cartons expired in January 2021 & were thick & lumpy, thankfully the host also provided fresh milk. HOSTS - Julia & her son James are 2 of the friendliest hosts one could imagine, but that’s not always a positive attribute. On arrival we were advised that due to Covid, contact with our hosts would be limited, but contrary to this advice, we found their friendliness & willingness to offer help & assistance at every possible opportunity somewhat overbearing - we couldn’t move about the place outside of our room without one of the hosts appearing with offers of assistance, almost to the point that we felt we were being watched & weren’t trusted. At times it was quite uncomfortable, particularly when returning around midnight & seeing the upstairs blinds twitching as we got out of our taxi, then to be greeted by James who had come downstairs to let us in the front door - why did you give us a key?! Maybe it’s just us & we read it wrong, we were the only guests staying - maybe had there been other guests their attention would have been shared around. We prefer our privacy, to be left to ourselves to get on with what we’re doing.
Lovely location, great size room, plenty of facilities for refreshments.

United KingdomThe only negative was the steep driveway but I parked on the road, so not really a problem.
Julia was an amazing host, so warm, friendly and chatty - we felt like we were staying with an old friend. The garden was lovely and it would be lovely to stay in the summer and make use of it properly. The bedroom was calming with lovely decor, everything we needed and such a comfy bed and pillows.
