Wendover is a lovely town on the Ridgeway trail. This inn has comfy compact rooms. The complementary sloe gin was a nice touch.

Our room was one of the more basic and was a little cramped but fine for a one night stay. The room and most of the others faced the outside drinking/ dining area of the pub which wasn’t a problem for us but perhaps could have been noisy if we had visited on a warm summer’s night.

Lovely location very near beautiful walks. The room was nicely decorated and we loved the complimentary sloe gin, cookies and great selection of teas and coffees. We ate in the main restaurant and were really impressed with the variety of dishes on offer: not typical pub fare at all. Breakfast was very high quality with hot dishes cooked to order. The staff were all very friendly and helpful.

It seems to be a chain pub. I'm coeliac and when I asked about the gluten free options I had to scan the menu - I don't mind this but it didn't have much choice (ie. one thing could have been changed and it would have been fine for me). Also, a medium glass of Malbec was £11!

The room was great and v comfortable.

    Room was a little small.

We stayed two nights with our dog. Our room was spotlessly clean and newly decorated. Staff were wonderfully polite. The pub has a lovely atmosphere and is very convenient for walking in the Chiltern Hills and Wendover Wood. Nice additional touches like free Sipsmith Sloe Gin and good coffee in the room.

Lovely old coaching inn. Great pub, good food and comfortable rooms. But it’s the little thoughtful touches like a decanter of whisky to help yourself to a free nightcap and the helpful and friendly staff that made this special. Highly recommend.

Although the food in the restaurant the night before was fantastic, the cooked breakfast was a bit overcooked, but the choice was great pastries, cereals, fruit, etc.

The room was lovely, very clean great facilities and nice touches: Robes, sloe gin, quality tea & coffee, chocolates and even the little personalised welcome card

    Nothing, everything was superb.

Spotlessly clean and spacious room that had everything we needed, and more! The complimentary sloe gin, the bathrobes and the pillow spray were thoughtful extra touches that added to the quality of our stay. The window of our room looked out onto the High Street but there was no noise whatsoever. The coffee, tea and bathroom accessories were of high quality, and the bed was super comfy, ensuring a good night's sleep. The breakfast was very good, a lovely cooked breakfast and plenty of choice on the buffet table. And the staff were fantastic - friendly, helpful and nothing was too much trouble. We're already looking forward to our next stay at this absolute gem of a place.

    Nothing

Having lived in the village for thirty years I had eaten and drunk in the establishment many time over the years. After moving away this was a return visit for one night. We had booked a petite double room but although nothing was said I suspect we may have been upgraded to a disability room perhaps in recognition of obvious age and walking ability. For this we were very grateful and comfortable appreciating the assistance aids that had been installed. (wall bars etc.) Staff friendly and professional. Dog friendly in room, bar and restaurant.

Would prefer to have been able to be able to open the windows and get fresh air into the room. Excessive surcharge for a dog of £25 a record from many years of travelling with my dog.

Friendly staff in a lovely location. Nice room aside from the pub. The bottle of slow gin was a nice touch

Everything. This is a remarkable place that is totally amazing. It's all the little touches that make it stand out. A handwritten card in the room with its beautiful illustration to welcome me. Super comfy bed, Bramley toiletries which I have at home so adore. Proper milk in a glass bottle, not single use plastic pots. The Sipsmith sloe gin in the room which was divine and such a treat. The staff are fabulous and the food is sublime. The option to settle your bill and check out online the next morning is fabulous. So easy if you are in a rush. Parking was plentiful and the outside space is lovely to sit in on a warm day. The building has been sympathetically refurbished so it keeps all of its character whilst presenting a modern stay. Fabulous.
