The hotel is looking a little tired. The carpet in public areas could do with replacing. The hotel is very old and maintenance costs must be high so upkeep must be difficult for the owners.

The location was excellent, with the beach and sea right in front of the hotel. One thing that made our stay particularly enjoyable was the friendliness and helpfulness of the staff. Breakfast was good with plenty of choice.

Not enough parking when I arrived so I had to park a few blocks away and pay about thirty quid. There is a band stand on the promenade that people dance on which was lovely in the afternoon but not at 3 am for hours. Beware of a Seaview room on a bank holiday due to the all night dancing.

Walk out of the front door and your on the promenade. .the staff are warm and friendly and the food was good. The location of the hotel is close to the hussle and bustle.

some parts of the hotel need a little renovation like the wallpapers and doors.

Barry the receptionist was an absolute sweetheart. Told us all the amazing things to do in brighton and recommended breakfast at the breakfast club (which was amazing) and warned us about pickpocketing. Very positive energy throughout our stay too from the other receptionists. Also, thanks to the housekeeper Laura for making sure our room nice and cozy.

I didn't like the fact that was no soap bars in the hotel room for cleaning and it was mainly liquid soap they had available. Other than that it was great value for money.

The location was right by the beach so was a perfect destination for the stay. Breakfast had a variety of options and I felt this was very filling. Also liked the fact that there is parking at the hotel, yes it may be small but there is still alot of street parking nearby.

The room was really lovely and the bed comfortable but the pillows were incredibly lumpy, why don't hotels invest in great pillows. The buffet breakfast was a little lack lustre and probably not worth the money, think you could have got more for your money at a cafe.

Great room, with lovely view.....the staff at reception were very helpful. Clean and well looked after facilities for the type and age of the hotel

The room was smaller than expected, at the back of the building. It was quite noisy from 6am.

The hotel was in walking distance of the town and pier. The is also a nice underground parking garage with a few minutes walk along the front.

The room was very warm and air-con not obvious. Outside the windows the ledge floor was grotty. The floor in the bathtub was very very slippy.

The girl at the front desk was polite and friendly. The night manager was helpful. The location was ideal. Affordable and easy.

Unfortunately, there are stairs to access the ground floor elevator, and additional stairs to access my room after the elevator. While this didn't impede me, it would be nice to eventually see a ramp added.

The exterior of this hotel is so charming and the staff was just as charming and lovely from the very moment I entered. It left a great impression for my stay. While my room was on the small side, it had all the amenities I needed for a comfortable place to relax after a busy few days exploring Brighton. The hotel is a bit of a walk to most of the major tourist sites, but I didn't mind too much as there are bus stops and bike rentals about a 5 minute walk away if you don't want to walk. Some good restaurants and cafes are also only a 5 minute walk away so that was a nice convenience. Overall, a good stay!

Food could be fresher, a bit more choice added, more veggies and fruits. Also, was a bit surprised with the parking fee, as there was nothing about it in the advert and a hotel at this price and so prestigious as Mercury is, should offer parking - free of charge.

Location and distance to the sea.

Reception desk is tiny . Directions to rooms vague . Room small with poor ventilation . Carpets stained . Bathroom and access to shower awkward if not slightly hazardous . Room was long way from reception on the third floor . At no point during booking in was I asked if we had issues that accessing our room may be a problem considering its location .

Location was on the seafront just by Hove lawns . Easy access to beach and seafront walk way .

The dining room was very small and at breakfast got very busy. There was little room to move around and a constant flow of people walking behind my seat didnt make it feel like a very relaxing start to the day. The food and service however was very good

Nice roomy bathroom, good size twin room. Plenty of variety at breakfast and staff were very efficient at keeping everything stocked up The gentleman on reception on arrival was lovely. Made you feel very welcome

Parking was provided, but the car park was full when we arrived. Friend found a space whilst I queued to check-in. I didn't see the extra price for parking whilst booking the hotel.

Carpet in room was very stained. As was carpet leading to breakfast area...needs a good clean. Telephone in room broken at socket but not a major issue as WiFi worked NP incase of emergency.

Location great Receptionist extremely helpful and a very pleasant lady Breakfast staff very friendly too. Characteristics of hotel very quirky. Appears dated but a venue full of history. Parking a little expensive though but for the convenience I was happy to pay £28 for 24hrs. Breakfast was plentiful, from fruits, yogurts, cereal, pastries to the usual full English help yourself style Breakfast. My son and I would stay here again

The main issue is parking they have so many rooms but very little space for parking. And they don't have lift for 2nd floor.

Firstly this property is located in very good location and rooms are also good and cozy, bar is awesome I enjoyed drinks in bar & the view from bar is superb. Breakfast was also very nice. Staff is friendly.

Although the room was clean and tidy - the carpets throughout the reception area and adjoining bar were beyond disgusting. We couldn’t believe how filthy they were. Especially considering the general standard elsewhere. I wouldn’t stay there again just because of this. It all needs a bit of a clean up

Location. Lovely and helpful Italian lady at the reception desk.
