Each review score is between 1-10. To get the overall score that you see, we add up all the review scores we’ve received and divide that total by the number of review scores we’ve received. We are currently testing a weighted review system in Malta, Iceland, Australia, Greece, Brazil and North Carolina. For properties in these regions, the more recent the review, the bigger the impact on the total review score calculation. In addition, guests can give separate ‘subscores’ in crucial areas, such as location, cleanliness, staff, comfort, facilities, value for money and free Wi-Fi. You can review an Accommodation that you booked through our Platform if you stayed there or if you arrived at the property but didn’t actually stay there. To edit a review you’ve already submitted, please contact our Customer Service team.
We have people and automated systems that specialise in detecting fake reviews submitted to our Platform. If we find any, we delete them and, if necessary, take action against whoever is responsible.
Anyone else who spots something suspicious can always report it to our Customer Service team, so our Fraud team can investigate.
Ideally, we would publish every review we receive, whether positive or negative. However, we won’t display any review that includes or refers to (among other things):
To make sure reviews are relevant, we may only accept reviews that are submitted within 3 months of checking out, and we may stop showing reviews once they’re 36 months old – or if the Accommodation has a change of ownership.
An Accommodation may choose to reply to a review.
When you see multiple reviews, the most recent ones will be at the top, subject to a few other factors (what language a review is in, whether it’s just a rating or contains comments as well, etc.). If you like, you can sort and/or filter them (by time of year, review score, etc.).
We sometimes show external review scores from other well-known travel websites. We make it clear when we’ve done this.

United KingdomThe fridge was dirty. There was only 1 fork and 1 spoon, yet 3 knives. Only 1 food bowl. The shower leaked from the tray onto the bathroom floor, which could cause problems for you in future. One of the shower taps kept falling off. The bedroom radiator didn't work. The tv wasn't tuned in and wouldn't tune in. There were no temperature numbers on the oven dial. The dishcloth holder on kitchen taps was dirty with mould. There was no sink plug. There was masking tape around the light rose in bedroom. There were no pillow or mattress protectors on the bed. To improve the stay it would have been nice to have a full length mirror and a mirror in the bedroom. Also, a side table and lamp at both sides of the bed and a chest of drawers. Coat hooks on entry. Also, 4 pillows on the bed instead of 2. I would also provide cleaning supplies and teatowels.
The shower facilities were excellent with regard temperature and water pressure. Toilet and shower room very clean. It was nice to be able to wash clothes in the washing machine. The towels provided were clean and smelled nice. With some minor alterations we would stay again.

United KingdomLack of essentials, noise, lots of broken items, felt a bit unsafe. No spoons, one fork, chipped mugs, flooding bathroom from shower, broken fittings, unable to open blinds so had to sit in the dark or put on lights which were glaringly bright, electric hob next to the sink, electric light switch in bathroom, non existent fire doors, very noisy with no sound insulation between rooms or floors, could hear other peoples conversations and every movement. A shame because location and building are great. Quite surprised it has been approved by building regs etc.

AustraliaWhere to start We had 1 spoon 1 fork 1 bowl 3 plates no cooking utensils no washing detergent no t towel no TV signal one little soap for 3 days no coffee or tea sugar cold water tap fell off on your toes in the shower Hot water system for the building was in bathroom, which made the unit extremely hot. Floors were very sticky. You could evey movements above it was like they were walking on your bed. Do yourself a great favour and do not ever book this accommodation. We will be fighting to get our money back. It's looks like it will have to go to court so be it. Nobody deserves this service by the landlord's and Booking.com. Daniel

Location was well situated for me for my work the following day, which was one of the main reasons for booking, it was close to the train station and local shops/takeaways etc. Bathroom was great.
