The steps to the bathroom are rather large and two steps into would have been better, especially for older guests. The lifts could be made larger to accommodated more people and pushchairs.

Third floor is rather dingy, we asked to be moved to the first floor to be near our children and grandchildren. We were accommodated and was placed a few doors away.

Breakfast was inconsistent one day it was a buffet which was fine,the next day it was served but there was only one person on duty doing everything.The fruit juices were poor quality.

Impressive Victorian architecture, clean tidy room with modern bathroom. Great location opposite railway station and right in the city centre. Easy check in, all the staff were friendly and helpful.Able to store luggage. Ask for a room facing the court building as there are noisy road works on the other side of the hotel.

Room was a bit cold. The window didn't shut fully so let in a small draft. Nothing major - we were there during a warm spell so it was ok, I imagine it would be cold in the winter.

Very few negatives to be fair. Windows only opened a little bit and the lights in the bedroom were a little dim.

Lovely building in the heart of the city. Our bedrooms were very big and comfortable. Fabulous bathroom with powerful shower. For a large hotel, the restaurant was surprisingly small. However this didn't prove to be a problem on Sunday morning at 09.30am. Quality of the breakfast was very good. Staff throughout the hotel were very friendly and efficient.

Dont think i can fault much. Maybe automatic doors at entrance of hotel, found the doors abit heavy.

I loved the room and decor, staff were friendly and attentive. Everything was spot on for me, elevators worked well. My room was cosy but felt comfortable, the door system was classy not cheap. It wasnt giving expensive look, it lives up to the expensive feel. The shower/bathroom was amazing too. Would check in again from other hotels

The room was spacious, mattress and pillows are very soft and offer no support. The bathroom shower and sink water wasn’t very hot. The sink tap was very close to the bowl edge and you could barely wash your hands properly without water spilling out on the surface. The shower over the bath was very tight and awkward, with the shower pressure very poor and not warm enough. The room was cold and obviously heating wasn’t on. Decent enough location, car park was busy late on, but there was a wedding party so may explain that. Never had to pay a returnable deposit of £50 at a hotel before either.

The lift only goes to the 3rd floor after that there is a staircase which for older people is not ideal. The bath was out of use ,the shower had only one temperature vvvv hot because the temp knob did not work. No make up mirror , no instructions how to heat up the room and to use the short leaded hairdryer which was in a drawer was useless. Dinner menu was limited with no mustard of any sort.

Friendly very helpful staff. Car park next door was good. Spacious room ,very clean and excellent towels. The entertains rooms are gorgeous and the owners have kept the property in the period manner . Brilliant.

The room was on the fourth floor and no lift from third floor. A very long all to the room. There was a bath in the room but this was out of order, the shower controls had no instructions and took 10 minutes to get a decent (not burning) temperature,

The sink didn’t drain, we reported this after our stay so hopefully it’s been sorted. The room was a bit run down. Stain makes on ceiling from past leaks, we found the bathroom floor to have hairs on in the corners. Room was a bit dusty and we couldn’t open the windows.

The room I had was quite small. The original windows are a great feature but also in need of attention. They would benefit from being secured to stop them rattling (it was a very windy weekend), perhaps also some secondary glazing. I also felt extremely uncomfortable in the shower and on the toilet, as the bathroom window looked straight out onto the street with only a thin net curtain. I may have missed something and they could be one way glass, but it didn't look or feel it to me! You really are sat right next to the floor to ceiling window when you're on the loo?

Excellent location to the station and taxis, which was good as a solo traveller. Staff in the bar were really friendly and kept me company whilst having a drink in the bar which was lovely. Food was being served and looked good. Lovely old building.

Floor was not clean in the room. Staff didn’t inform me of a £50 deposit before coming to stay despite booking weeks in advance.

Good area, nice rooms, bed was comfortable and breakfast was good, loved the omelette choice.
