Each review score is between 1-10. To get the overall score that you see, we add up all the review scores we’ve received and divide that total by the number of review scores we’ve received. We are currently testing a weighted review system in Malta and Iceland (excluding hotel and vacation rental chains). For properties in these countries, the more recent the review, the bigger the impact on the total review score calculation. In addition, guests can give separate ‘subscores’ in crucial areas, such as location, cleanliness, staff, comfort, facilities, value for money and free Wi-Fi. Note that guests submit their subscores and their overall scores independently, so there’s no direct link between them.
You can review an Accommodation that you booked through our Platform if you stayed there or if you arrived at the property but didn’t actually stay there. To edit a review you’ve already submitted, please contact our Customer Service team.
We have people and automated systems that specialise in detecting fake reviews submitted to our Platform. If we find any, we delete them and, if necessary, take action against whoever is responsible.
Anyone else who spots something suspicious can always report it to our Customer Service team, so our Fraud team can investigate.
Ideally, we would publish every review we receive, whether positive or negative. However, we won’t display any review that includes or refers to (among other things):
To make sure reviews are relevant, we may only accept reviews that are submitted within 3 months of checking out, and we may stop showing reviews once they’re 36 months old – or if the Accommodation has a change of ownership.
An Accommodation may choose to reply to a review.
When you see multiple reviews, the most recent ones will be at the top, subject to a few other factors (what language a review is in, whether it’s just a rating or contains comments as well, etc.). If you like, you can sort and/or filter them (by time of year, review score, etc.).
We sometimes show external review scores from other well-known travel websites. We make it clear when we’ve done this.
These guidelines and standards aim to keep the content on Booking.com relevant and family-friendly without limiting expression of strong opinions. They are also applicable regardless of the sentiment of the comment.
Contributions should be travel related. The most helpful contributions are detailed and help others make better decisions. Please don’t include personal, political, ethical, or religious commentary. Promotional content will be removed and issues concerning Booking.com’s services should be routed to our Customer Service or Accommodation Service teams.
Contributions should be appropriate for a global audience. Please avoid using profanity or attempts to approximate profanity with creative spelling, in any language. Comments and media that include 'hate speech', discriminatory remarks, threats, sexually explicit remarks, violence, and the promotion of illegal activity are not permitted.
All content should be genuine and unique to the guest. Reviews are most valuable when they are original and unbiased. Your contribution should be yours. Booking.com property partners should not post on behalf of guests or offer incentives in exchange for reviews. Attempts to bring down the rating of a competitor by submitting a negative review will not be tolerated.
Respect the privacy of others. Booking.com will make an effort to obscure email addresses, telephone numbers, website addresses, social media accounts, and similar details.
The opinions expressed in contributions are those of Booking.com customers and properties and not of Booking.com. Booking.com does not accept responsibility or liability for any reviews or responses. Booking.com is a distributor (without any obligation to verify) and not a publisher of these comments and responses.
By default, reviews are sorted based on the date of the review and on additional criteria to display the most relevant reviews, including but not limited to: your language, reviews with text, and non-anonymous reviews. Additional sorting options may be available (by type of traveller, by score, etc.).

Lovely lodge inside and out, like being in a real log cabin atmosphere! Plenty of space inside and a range utilities to use! Quiet and peaceful location. Ease of travelling to all areas with amazing scenery. Local shops in nearby town and fuel for everyday needs. Overall a wonderful experience apart from the rainy days we had.

United KingdomIt was quite cold all of the time despite having the heating on. Just a few more basics for having a kitchen eg salt, pepper, oil etc would’ve been great
The location was amazing - great for exploring the local islands and with a beautiful glen on your doorstep The lodge itself was cosy and comfortable The owners were very friendly and attentive

United KingdomThrough no fault of their own the area lacks a pub or a cafe (both have shut down nearby).
The location was brilliant. Very peaceful, with plenty of space and close to hiking trails, the beach and town. The cabin was equipped with all amenities.

Its beautiful appearance and tranquil environment provided a perfect escape. The property had all the necessary cooking equipment, and the bed was very comfortable. With two bedrooms—one with two twin beds and another with a double bed, it was ideal for my snoring problem.

United KingdomI have no complaints about the lodge or location but just prepare for the midges in the warmer months!
We stayed in Calltain Lodge for 2 nights. The lodge itself was lovely, clean, spacious and well decorated with everything you needed in the kitchen to prepare a meal. Pucks Glen itself is directly behind the lodges and is stunning. Dunoon and several restaurants are a few miles South and the beautiful Benmore Gardens are just North. Cowal is a beautiful part of Scotland with an island feel. Steve and Liz are responsive to any questions

United KingdomOnly small complaint toilet is very loud however this was not overly disturbing and did not affect the stay.
Location is absolutely stunning with an amazing walking trail. The lodge itself is nice and cozy. Beds are very comfortable. Board games are a nice extra. Good instructions for how to work all the facilities in the leather book provided. Great communication with the hosts with checking in and out. Would definitely recommend and will definitely return.

United KingdomA superb gem, just ten minutes outside of Dunoon and convenient for the whole of the Argyll peninsula. Very well equipped log cabin, which was cozy and quiet. The hosts were very responsive and kept us informed, at all times. I have been going to this part of Scotland regularly, over the past few years, and this will now be my first place to look at for when I inevitably return.

United KingdomThe only things I would say are that the water tank is quite loud whenever water has been in use (toilet flushed, for example) and the trickling lasts for quite a long while (not sure if there’s anything you can do about that however). The doorstep on the porch also needs looking at as it catches your foot when crossing the threshold. And just a small personal preference - I like knowing there’s clothes washing facilities onsite and there didn’t seem to be.
Calltain Lodge is an adorable home from home, situated in a small glen surrounded by tall standing trees. The cabin itself keeps nice and cool in the hot weather and maintains a comfortable temperature during the evening. It is well-decorated and homely, with easy to work utilities such as a smart TV, shower, dishwasher and thermostat. The owners were very friendly and informative ahead of our arrival, recommending different days out, nearby attractions and places to eat.

United KingdomOne of the direction maps lead us to wrong place at beginning, Tv was small, No extraction fan so fire alarm went off a couple times when cooking, No hot water in kitchen tap although dish washer meant it wasn't a massive problem. No first aid kit.
Most of it, crazy nice beds, great living room, nice wee walk trail right behind cabin, decking was lovely to sit out on, bathroom was fancy and nice.

United KingdomOnly issues were the toilet filling back up was quite noisy for some time at night until it filled. Water was running cold too. Understandable though in secluded location. Heaters are on timers which can get cold at times.

United KingdomThe only bit of a slight negative feedback, and this is very small. Is the messages from 2 numbers and booking.com messages. 1 number of which you don’t reply to. I counted 7 across our stay which got a bit confusing when trying to find bits of info we had read when we received it. Also there’s some out of date information in the welcome folder. The small cafe next to the service station is now shut :( and the kayaking facebook page i don’t believe exists so a small refresh of the book would be ideal! Other than those 2 very small points which didn’t negatively impact us, the lodge was lovely and will be back!
The property was lovely, clean and tidy. We felt very safe and comfortable. Had a small internet issue but nothing a good old game of monopoly didn’t fix. Other board games were available which made us very happy. Weather was unfortunately not on our side but still made the most of our time. During evenings we still enjoyed sitting outside undercover listening to the rain. I found the bed super comfortable however my partner woke up with extreme neck pain each night, I’m not going to mark this down because his sleeping habits are bizarre so if you like a flat pillow bring your own!
