Each review score is between 1-10. To get the overall score that you see, we add up all the review scores we’ve received and divide that total by the number of review scores we’ve received. We are currently testing a weighted review system in Malta and Iceland (excluding hotel and vacation rental chains). For properties in these countries, the more recent the review, the bigger the impact on the total review score calculation. In addition, guests can give separate ‘subscores’ in crucial areas, such as location, cleanliness, staff, comfort, facilities, value for money and free Wi-Fi. Note that guests submit their subscores and their overall scores independently, so there’s no direct link between them.
You can review an Accommodation that you booked through our Platform if you stayed there or if you arrived at the property but didn’t actually stay there. To edit a review you’ve already submitted, please contact our Customer Service team.
We have people and automated systems that specialise in detecting fake reviews submitted to our Platform. If we find any, we delete them and, if necessary, take action against whoever is responsible.
Anyone else who spots something suspicious can always report it to our Customer Service team, so our Fraud team can investigate.
Ideally, we would publish every review we receive, whether positive or negative. However, we won’t display any review that includes or refers to (among other things):
To make sure reviews are relevant, we may only accept reviews that are submitted within 3 months of checking out, and we may stop showing reviews once they’re 36 months old – or if the Accommodation has a change of ownership.
An Accommodation may choose to reply to a review.
When you see multiple reviews, the most recent ones will be at the top, subject to a few other factors (what language a review is in, whether it’s just a rating or contains comments as well, etc.). If you like, you can sort and/or filter them (by time of year, review score, etc.).
We sometimes show external review scores from other well-known travel websites. We make it clear when we’ve done this.
These guidelines and standards aim to keep the content on Booking.com relevant and family-friendly without limiting expression of strong opinions. They are also applicable regardless of the sentiment of the comment.
Contributions should be travel related. The most helpful contributions are detailed and help others make better decisions. Please don’t include personal, political, ethical, or religious commentary. Promotional content will be removed and issues concerning Booking.com’s services should be routed to our Customer Service or Accommodation Service teams.
Contributions should be appropriate for a global audience. Please avoid using profanity or attempts to approximate profanity with creative spelling, in any language. Comments and media that include 'hate speech', discriminatory remarks, threats, sexually explicit remarks, violence, and the promotion of illegal activity are not permitted.
All content should be genuine and unique to the guest. Reviews are most valuable when they are original and unbiased. Your contribution should be yours. Booking.com property partners should not post on behalf of guests or offer incentives in exchange for reviews. Attempts to bring down the rating of a competitor by submitting a negative review will not be tolerated.
Respect the privacy of others. Booking.com will make an effort to obscure email addresses, telephone numbers, website addresses, social media accounts, and similar details.
The opinions expressed in contributions are those of Booking.com customers and properties and not of Booking.com. Booking.com does not accept responsibility or liability for any reviews or responses. Booking.com is a distributor (without any obligation to verify) and not a publisher of these comments and responses.
By default, reviews are sorted based on the date of the review and on additional criteria to display the most relevant reviews, including but not limited to: your language, reviews with text, and non-anonymous reviews. Additional sorting options may be available (by type of traveller, by score, etc.).

United StatesOnly criticism was my twin room the beds were adjacent and would have preferred extra space for 2 hikers traveling together.
Very comfortable. Excellent restaurant. Dinner and breakfast were both faultless.

United StatesNothing I can think of.
Location of the hotel was perfect, our room #4 had a balcony overlooking the harbour with views of the cliffs and open water. Arriving a little early for our check in the staff member lovely gal from New Zealand checked with house keeping on the status of our room and she showed us upstairs to the room with gorgeous views. Bed was very comfortable, bath room was a wow factor when you opened the door SO large water pressure and temperature was great. TV worked well without needing a PHD to program and watch. French doors opened up to a spacious deck which has two wicker chairs for watching the sea and sunset. The morning breakfast was outstanding with a great selection of hot choices and very nice pastries, again the staff were excellent and the chef out did them selves with attention to detail. One last item that I enjoyed at low tide was the sea cave located on the left side of the bay which you could easily venture into about 50’ with interesting graffiti carved into the smooth rock some appearing to be very old. All I came say if you stay here “ENJOY “

United KingdomThere was a mechanical contraption outside the bathroom window that made a constant noise the first night we were there. Subsequently it was only there in the day. Was this the reason the window in the bathroom was sealed shut?

United KingdomIt would be better/nicer if there was more choice/flexibility for meals, rather than just fine dining. Thus, for lunch you have to have a full on two course fine dining meal, which certainly didn't suit us. We prefer a light lunch and then an evening meal. It would have been nice to have been able to have a light snack lunch served from the bars. And on Sunday evening we didn't really want a full on two course fine dining meal, but there was no alternative.
The location is excellent, close to Port Issac, only 15 minutes walk or 5 minutes drive, but not in Port Issac. Port Gaverne is a picturesque and nice location in a small inlet. The hotel is well located looking out to sea. The rooms are not large, but they are clean, comfortable and well appointed. The balconies for some rooms are nice touches. The staff are very friendly and helpful. The bar is cosy and nice. Breakfast was delicious. The hotel is dog friendly.

IrelandWe got locket out of our room at one point as door handle was broken but it was attended to.
The food is pricey but excellent. It had such charm. Open fires and tasteful nautical interiors. Best breakfast we had in the UK. Staff were lovely. We had a dip at the cove which was heaven. This was our favourite place along the Path.

United KingdomAll good.
I stayed at this hotel years ago and returning for just one night I was pleased to see it largely unaltered, albeit updated in terms of some of the decor. It feels old and interesting but warm and comfortable, we stayed in November when the real fires made it welcoming and cosy. Breakfast and lunch were very good, some of the best fish and chips ever, and we live in a fishing town! It was quiet when we stayed but still had a nice relaxed feel, didn’t feel ‘empty’ as some places can in the low season. Staff were all very welcoming and friendly. Wouldn’t hesitate to come again if up that way.

United KingdomThere were quite a few steps to get to our room - but I hadn’t asked for anything specific.
It was a smaller size, so didn’t feel too busy or crowded. The hotel is about 50 yards from a small pebbly beach where we could watch the waves roll in. Everything was clean, and it has 2 open fires.

United KingdomI think it’s hard to say what could have been better. I suppose if you are tall, you do need to duck on the stairs! But honestly, it was a great stay and delicious food.
The staff were warm and welcoming. Service was excellent. Dinner was delicious!! Veggie option was thoughtful (starter) and tasty (main) - risotto was one of the best I’ve had. Meat and fish options were plentiful - ended up having cod followed by steak, both of which were cooked perfectly. The room was clean, bed very comfy and a tidy bathroom, nice tough having a small balcony. Breakfast lived up to expectations as well - both meat and veggie option, a true Cornish delight!! We will definitely stay and eat here again. Would recommend to friends and family.
