Read more– opens a dialog boxEach review score is between 1–10. To get the overall score that you see, we add up all the review scores we’ve received and divide that total by the number of review scores we’ve received. We're currently testing a weighted review system in Malta and Iceland (excluding hotel and vacation rental chains). For properties in these countries, the more recent the review, the bigger the impact on the total review score calculation. In addition, guests can give separate "subscores" in crucial areas, such as location, cleanliness, staff, comfort, facilities, value for money, and free Wifi. Note that guests submit their subscores and their overall scores independently, so there’s no direct link between them.
You can review an accommodation that you booked through our platform if you stayed there, or if you got to the property but didn’t actually stay there. To edit a review you’ve already submitted, contact our Customer Service team.
We have people and automated systems that specialize in detecting fake reviews submitted to our platform. If we find any, we delete them and, if necessary, take action against whoever is responsible.
Anyone who spots something suspicious can always report it to our Customer Service team so that our fraud team can investigate.
Ideally, we'd publish every review we get, positive and negative. However, we won’t display any reviews that include or refer to (among other things):
To make sure reviews are relevant, we may only accept reviews that are submitted within 3 months of checking out. We may stop showing reviews once they’re 36 months old, or if the accommodation has a change of ownership.
An accommodation can reply to a review.
When you see multiple reviews, the most recent ones will be at the top, subject to a few other factors (e.g. language, whether it’s just a rating or contains comments as well, etc.). You can sort and/or filter them by time of year, review score, and more.
Sometimes we show external review scores from other well-known travel websites, but make it clear when we do this.
These guidelines and standards aim to keep the content on Booking.com relevant and family-friendly, without limiting expression or strong opinions. They're also applicable regardless of the comment's tone.
Contributions should be travel related. The most helpful contributions are detailed and help others make better decisions. Please don’t include personal, political, ethical, or religious commentary. Promotional content will be removed and issues concerning Booking.com’s services should be routed to our Customer Service or Accommodation Service teams.
Contributions should be appropriate for a global audience. Please avoid using profanity or attempts to approximate profanity with creative spelling, in any language. Comments and media that include hate speech, discriminatory remarks, threats, sexually explicit remarks, violence, or the promotion of illegal activity are not permitted.
All content should be genuine and unique to the guest. Reviews are most valuable when they are original and unbiased. Your contribution should be yours. Booking.com property partners should not post on behalf of guests or offer incentives in exchange for reviews. Attempts to bring down the rating of a competitor by submitting a negative review will not be tolerated.
Respect the privacy of others. Booking.com will make an effort to obscure email addresses, telephone numbers, website addresses, social media accounts, and other similar details.
The opinions expressed in contributions are those of Booking.com customers and properties, and not of Booking.com. Booking.com does not accept responsibility or liability for any reviews or responses. Booking.com is a distributor (without any obligation to verify) and not a publisher of these comments and responses.
By default, reviews are sorted based on the date of the review and on additional criteria to display the most relevant reviews, including but not limited to: your language, reviews with text, and non-anonymous reviews. Additional sorting options might be available (by type of traveler, by score, etc...).

The Beaches is a high quality guest house in a great location close to the beach and only 5 minutes walk to the town centre. Room and en-suite bathroom (Room 2) were immaculate and the breakfast is as good as anywhere I’ve ever stayed. We will definitely return if travelling to Ayrshire again.

The room and the bathroom were squeaky clean, absolutely spotless!! We had everything we needed from delicious coffee and tea all the way to body balm and hair conditioner. Both the bedding and the towels were great quality and the bed itself was super comfy. And the view from the room was beautiful as it is overlooking Jan’s beautiful garden and the beach! United KingdomAbsolutely nothing to not like.
Location, view, facilities, cleanliness, and the owners. We were welcomed very well by Kirsty, who showed us our room, which was lovely and the view was superb. The room was to a very high standard, as was the cleanliness of it. It was a great place to stay with a great selection of coffee and teas, not to mention the homemade shortbread and breakfast. Jan, the owner and her daughter Kirsty, were the perfect hostesses. Top Notch.

United States of AmericaHaving to leave, we have spent over 21 days in Scotland, and this was the best place we ever stayed at.
The breakfasts were 5 Star. Jan is an excellent cook and baker. We stayed in the top room overlooking the sea and I had more than enough room being 6'4. The place was well kept, and Jan really has put her mind to making it a wonderful place to stay.

Beaches is a beautifully kept mini hotel! The attention to detail in the rooms is 2nd to none. I don’t have the space to list everything that I loved, but here are my highlights: the bed was wonderfully comfortable, the bathroom was very nicely decorated and lit. There was a beautiful table and chair in the room, luxurious curtains for the bay window. Really attractive mugs and a bottle of milk in the fridge, home-made shortbread (10 pieces!) and there were even very comfortable dressing gowns in the stylish wardrobe. Even the hangers were luxurious! Jan is the most wonderful host - she can’t do enough for you. Breakfast was cooked superbly and such a choice was available. The location is lovely, right on the beach and in a Victorian street with so much character, the elegant council buildings are also nearby. I felt like I was transported back to the 19th century with all the beautiful architecture at the Ayr seafront. This is one of the best establishments I have ever stayed in and I have travelled a lot. I will most definitely be back! Thank you Jan ❤️

United KingdomWhen we arrived back from shopping and day out, the radiator didn't seem to click on and it wasn't as warm as expected. We cozied into bed to heat up as we felt it was too late to say anything... it didn't bother us too much though and overall it was comfortable enough.
Breakfast .Jan went above and beyond to cater for my gluten-free need. The breakfast was delicious and plentiful. I love that i wasn't treated as though i was a nuisance for asking for gluten-free food. My husband enjoyed his breakfast, too. The room - cosy wee room with toilet and shower, just below street level. The wee extras like the magnifying mirror and the homemade shortbread made it very special. The bed was very comfortable and the tea and coffee were delicious we both had hot chocolate and nice coffee The bonus of parking outside with a permit makes s difference.
