Each review score is between 1-10. To get the overall score that you see, we add up all the review scores we’ve received and divide that total by the number of review scores we’ve received. We are currently testing a weighted review system in Malta, Iceland, Australia, Greece, Brazil and North Carolina. For properties in these regions, the more recent the review, the bigger the impact on the total review score calculation. In addition, guests can give separate ‘subscores’ in crucial areas, such as location, cleanliness, staff, comfort, facilities, value for money and free Wi-Fi. Note that guests submit their subscores and their overall scores independently, so there’s no direct link between them.
You can review an Accommodation that you booked through our Platform if you stayed there or if you arrived at the property but didn’t actually stay there. To edit a review you’ve already submitted, please contact our Customer Service team.
We have people and automated systems that specialise in detecting fake reviews submitted to our Platform. If we find any, we delete them and, if necessary, take action against whoever is responsible.
Anyone else who spots something suspicious can always report it to our Customer Service team, so our Fraud team can investigate.
Ideally, we would publish every review we receive, whether positive or negative. However, we won’t display any review that includes or refers to (among other things):
To make sure reviews are relevant, we may only accept reviews that are submitted within 3 months of checking out, and we may stop showing reviews once they’re 36 months old – or if the Accommodation has a change of ownership.
An Accommodation may choose to reply to a review.
When you see multiple reviews, the most recent ones will be at the top, subject to a few other factors (what language a review is in, whether it’s just a rating or contains comments as well, etc.). If you like, you can sort and/or filter them (by time of year, review score, etc.).
We sometimes show external review scores from other well-known travel websites. We make it clear when we’ve done this.
These guidelines and standards aim to keep the content on Booking.com relevant and family-friendly without limiting expression of strong opinions. They are also applicable regardless of the sentiment of the comment.
Contributions should be travel related. The most helpful contributions are detailed and help others make better decisions. Please don’t include personal, political, ethical, or religious commentary. Promotional content will be removed and issues concerning Booking.com’s services should be routed to our Customer Service or Accommodation Service teams.
Contributions should be appropriate for a global audience. Please avoid using profanity or attempts to approximate profanity with creative spelling, in any language. Comments and media that include 'hate speech', discriminatory remarks, threats, sexually explicit remarks, violence, and the promotion of illegal activity are not permitted.
All content should be genuine and unique to the guest. Reviews are most valuable when they are original and unbiased. Your contribution should be yours. Booking.com property partners should not post on behalf of guests or offer incentives in exchange for reviews. Attempts to bring down the rating of a competitor by submitting a negative review will not be tolerated.
Respect the privacy of others. Booking.com will make an effort to obscure email addresses, telephone numbers, website addresses, social media accounts, and similar details.
The opinions expressed in contributions are those of Booking.com customers and properties and not of Booking.com. Booking.com does not accept responsibility or liability for any reviews or responses. Booking.com is a distributor (without any obligation to verify) and not a publisher of these comments and responses.
By default, reviews are sorted based on the date of the review and on additional criteria to display the most relevant reviews, including but not limited to: your language, reviews with text, and non-anonymous reviews. Additional sorting options may be available (by type of traveller, by score, etc.).

United KingdomThe bar had a limited choice of beers, and bar prices were expensive. Our room was painted very dark and the lighting was poor. The bathroom was tired, and not thoroughly clean in places like the underside of the sink and hand rails, and there was some rust. The extractor fan was noisy and not particularly efficient. The full length mirror in the main room was smeared/streaky and set at the wrong height. The beds were very firm/hard.
Set alongside but back from the main road, with stunning views of the surrounding countryside, the hotel was welcoming, and staff friendly and polite. Our room had great views, plenty of space and storage, and an ensuite bath with shower over. The room was quiet and well furnished. Our evening meal in the restaurant was tasty and we enjoyed the view outside. There was plenty of parking, and local information and attractions leaflets in reception. The breakfast was good but we felt overpriced, at £8 for cereals/yoghurt/toast and tea/coffee, or £12 for cooked breakfast. The location is a great base to explore the Wye Valley and local area.

PortugalUnfortunately the main road which passes the entrance to the property feels unsafe for foot travellers (we walked to nearby bus stop).
The landscape/view into the hills beyond was lovely.

United KingdomThe room could have been slightly more clean. One of the bedsheets had a stain, a few crumbs on the carpet but nothing major. The floor boards are incredibly noisy. We arrived late evening due to traffic and tried our very best to be quiet as we navigated our way to our room however, the creaks from the floor boards were super noisy.
The staff are 10/10!! Incredibly friendly and could not do enough for us. I liked how cosy the property felt and the views are beautiful. Th bed are very comfortable, we slept like logs! Breakfast was lovely, we had our four year old son with us who very much enjoyed his toast and cereal, plus some fuss from the lovely waitress. The full English was delicious and the continental breakfast selection was just enough. A choice of cereal, toast, teas coffee, yogurts, fruit and fruit juice, a perfect selection and not overwhelming.

United KingdomNothing. It met everything we needed. We thought we were going to be late for our dinner reservation and we had great communication from the hotel.
We were looking for a nights accommodation after disembarking a ferry and to break up a long drive home. Nice and quiet with great food options and excellent service.

United KingdomWhich can't unfortunately be said about the reception staff, one of whom made us wait in a smelly lounge for an hour because we were early, until a nice lady with tattoos arrived and saved the day. I also asked someone (possibly the manager) if there was somewhere I could park my motorcycle securely, he was quite dismissive really and uninterested.
Visiting the restaurant was a bit like going to a Berni Inn with my Mum and Dad in the 1970s. In a good way though. The curry we had was very good. The staff were also very attentive and helpful.

United KingdomThe in room toiletries could be improved somewhat to match the other standards and a small bottle of water would be apprteciated.
I didn't have breakfast but if dinner the previous evening was anything to go by, i am sure it would be superb. The whole experience exceeded my expectations, from the check in to the beautiful room with the little patio and views over the fields. The bathroom/wet-room was superb and the towels were of good quality. The dinner though! beautifully presented and fresh ingredients, prepared with care. Stunning.

United KingdomThe pillows compressed to not a lot when laid on - I had 3 of them and they did not support my neck properly so I slept poorly due to them.
It's slightly dated decor but perfectly comfortable with all the usual room contents you expect. Lovely view, friendly staff, great food!

United KingdomNot sure what the showers were like in the other rooms… But ours was dated as was parts of the venue. That being said the venue was very clean and tidy and wouldn’t put us off here staying again.
Location was perfect for us as we were doing an event 20 mins up the road. The staff were all very friendly helpful and accommodating. We had an early start the chef and his team were happy to start cooked breakfast at 07:45 instead of 8am normal weekend times. On request they also made us sandwiches to go. The food was delicious we ate there both evenings as we as well breakfast. Our room had a great view to wake up to each morning. The only downside we were on the ground floor with a privacy screen understandable as our window faced the patio area. Thank You! Team Pilgrim ☺️ for all the above 🤗
