Each review score is between 1-10. To get the overall score that you see, we add up all the review scores we’ve received and divide that total by the number of review scores we’ve received. We are currently testing a weighted review system in Malta and Iceland (excluding hotel and vacation rental chains). For properties in these countries, the more recent the review, the bigger the impact on the total review score calculation. In addition, guests can give separate ‘subscores’ in crucial areas, such as location, cleanliness, staff, comfort, facilities, value for money and free Wi-Fi. Note that guests submit their subscores and their overall scores independently, so there’s no direct link between them.
You can review an Accommodation that you booked through our Platform if you stayed there or if you arrived at the property but didn’t actually stay there. To edit a review you’ve already submitted, please contact our Customer Service team.
We have people and automated systems that specialise in detecting fake reviews submitted to our Platform. If we find any, we delete them and, if necessary, take action against whoever is responsible.
Anyone else who spots something suspicious can always report it to our Customer Service team, so our Fraud team can investigate.
Ideally, we would publish every review we receive, whether positive or negative. However, we won’t display any review that includes or refers to (among other things):
To make sure reviews are relevant, we may only accept reviews that are submitted within 3 months of checking out, and we may stop showing reviews once they’re 36 months old – or if the Accommodation has a change of ownership.
An Accommodation may choose to reply to a review.
When you see multiple reviews, the most recent ones will be at the top, subject to a few other factors (what language a review is in, whether it’s just a rating or contains comments as well, etc.). If you like, you can sort and/or filter them (by time of year, review score, etc.).
We sometimes show external review scores from other well-known travel websites. We make it clear when we’ve done this.
These guidelines and standards aim to keep the content on Booking.com relevant and family-friendly without limiting expression of strong opinions. They are also applicable regardless of the sentiment of the comment.
Contributions should be travel related. The most helpful contributions are detailed and help others make better decisions. Please don’t include personal, political, ethical, or religious commentary. Promotional content will be removed and issues concerning Booking.com’s services should be routed to our Customer Service or Accommodation Service teams.
Contributions should be appropriate for a global audience. Please avoid using profanity or attempts to approximate profanity with creative spelling, in any language. Comments and media that include 'hate speech', discriminatory remarks, threats, sexually explicit remarks, violence, and the promotion of illegal activity are not permitted.
All content should be genuine and unique to the guest. Reviews are most valuable when they are original and unbiased. Your contribution should be yours. Booking.com property partners should not post on behalf of guests or offer incentives in exchange for reviews. Attempts to bring down the rating of a competitor by submitting a negative review will not be tolerated.
Respect the privacy of others. Booking.com will make an effort to obscure email addresses, telephone numbers, website addresses, social media accounts, and similar details.
The opinions expressed in contributions are those of Booking.com customers and properties and not of Booking.com. Booking.com does not accept responsibility or liability for any reviews or responses. Booking.com is a distributor (without any obligation to verify) and not a publisher of these comments and responses.
By default, reviews are sorted based on the date of the review and on additional criteria to display the most relevant reviews, including but not limited to: your language, reviews with text, and non-anonymous reviews. Additional sorting options may be available (by type of traveller, by score, etc.).

United KingdomNothing. It was great
The country side location was amazing. Lovely friendly welcome from the hosts. Fields all all around filled with sheep and other wildlife. Nice cosy and comfy rooms. A great place all round. Thanks for a lovely weekend.

United KingdomWe loved our stay at Penmachno Hall. The self catering apartment was beautiful - the whole property oozes character and charm. We were mountain biking, and the hall is in a perfect location to ride to the Penmachno mtb trails. The hosts were amazing and helped us when we had a little accident on the trials. Their communication was also excellent prior to arriving. The hot tub is a brilliant addition and in a stunning and peaceful area of the grounds of the Hall - just what we needed after riding our bikes.

United KingdomNothing! Everything you could possibly wish for was catered for and taken care of!
Lauraine is the best host you could wish for! Great communication prior to our arrival. She was there to meet us when we rocked up, and showed us around. The Coach House is super clean and tidy and everything you need is there - from toiletries in the bathroom, to soap and dishwasher tablets in the kitchen, milk in the fridge, biscuits on arrival, bathrobes for the hottub, various outdoor seating areas with chairs, benches and tables, a BBQ, and many books, DVD’s and hiking maps and walking guides and tourist info for the area. The location is just beautiful, surrounded by hills and sheep. It’s just so quiet there. But yet, there is a village with a pub and small Londis shop just a few hundred meters away. Betws is also just a 10 min drive from the house. Thank you Lauraine for making our Easter stay with yoy so very warm and welcome! I can highly recommend the coach house to anyone looking for a place to stay in Snowdonia.

United KingdomIt was proper in inner roads, and if going out at night quite dark. The small kitchen space but the host was so lovely to leave us some essentials such as milk, oil, tea. A thoughtful couple.
The friendly personality of the host. The interior of the rooms so quirky, loved the crystals on the door as I’m a crystal lover

United KingdomOur main objective was to climb Mount Snowden for that the location was ideal, hidden tucked away in a rural setup. We thoroughly enjoyed our visit, Lauraine made us feel very welcome and comfortable. We all had a great time there.

United KingdomNot much at all in Penmachno itself (small shop and a quiet pub is all we found), we would probably look to stay in, or closer to, Betws-y-Coed as we spent a lot more time there eating out, shopping, playing on the central field. As a family of 4 we felt a little remote in Penmachno and would enjoy being closer to Betws next time. We found the property quite dated in terms of it's décor, but that's just our style preference/taste, and it is very in keeping with the age of the property and very well kept. We found the sofa to be quite uncomfortable, but again, it served it's purpose well for our 3 night stay. We would have liked to have had our children in the same room with us, and not in a completely separate room to us across the hall. (I know the owners would also like to address this too but haven't been granted permission to do so which is a shame. We wasn't aware of this before we travelled, but we made it work and our kids were very brave and stayed on their own. (We just kept both room doors open...!) The grandfather clock kept us awake (especially my wife), but if you ask Lorraine she would happily turn it off.. my only advice would be to ask/offer guests on their arrival so they aren't so disturbed on night 1 :-)
Beautiful location, and served as a great base for us to explore Snowdonia. The grounds we immaculate and very pretty. The property was very, very clean and there was lots of little touches (games for the kids etc.) which made our stay fun. We enjoyed the Hot Tub which we had exclusive use of. Lots of room to park which suited me well. Everything was there that we needed, towels,

United KingdomOur stay at Penmachno Hall was amazing and we couldn’t have asked for anything more. Simon and Lauraine were extremely welcoming. The rooms we were staying in were nicely furnished and accompanied by a range of movies and books to entertain yourselves with. The house had a wonderful view of the fields outside. It's a great property and we would stay there again. To top it all, we were able to laze in the hot tub after our long hike up Snowdon.

IsraelNothing at all.
The house is very cosy, the hosts are very friendly, generous and welcoming, the furniture is spectacular, huge space and great facilities. Splendid for families, we got virtually the whole floor + a garden for ourselves, with an old-style apartment for the parents (with bath instead of shower) and a newer-style room+shower for the children. If you don't like taking a bath, simply take a shower at the children room's shower.

United KingdomNothing!
Lauraine was so welcoming and nothing was too much trouble, we felt like we were friends staying in her home rather than paying guests. When Simon came home from work later in our stay he was just as lovely. A wonderful stay with wonderful hosts, a wonderful house in an amazing location, especially suited for visiting Snowdonia National park! Thank you both again from the Booth family of 4!

United KingdomThe apartment is in a beautiful house in lovely grounds and the addition of a hot-tub whilst we were there will be a great feature for guests. The apartment is very clean and well equipped but more geared up to eating out as cooking was via a combi microwave/oven/grill and small hob. Bedrooms are large and very comfortable with good en suites. The location is very quiet so perfect if you want to escape the crowds but well placed to drive to attractions nearby. The hosts are lovely and welcoming.

United KingdomThe furniture in lounge area wasn't that comfy. The kitchen only had a microwave and therefore feeding a family of 4 with prepared meals (as there were limited eateries in area) was a slow process. The local pub was very basic and food was just about edible.
Clean accommodation with exceptionally comfortable beds. Self catering facilities were small but functional. Very spacious rooms. Great reception with Welsh cakes, homemade jam and salted butter. The children adored the chocolate eggs.
