Each review score is between 1-10. To get the overall score that you see, we add up all the review scores we’ve received and divide that total by the number of review scores we’ve received. We are currently testing a weighted review system in Malta and Iceland (excluding hotel and vacation rental chains). For properties in these countries, the more recent the review, the bigger the impact on the total review score calculation. In addition, guests can give separate ‘subscores’ in crucial areas, such as location, cleanliness, staff, comfort, facilities, value for money and free Wi-Fi. Note that guests submit their subscores and their overall scores independently, so there’s no direct link between them.
You can review an Accommodation that you booked through our Platform if you stayed there or if you arrived at the property but didn’t actually stay there. To edit a review you’ve already submitted, please contact our Customer Service team.
We have people and automated systems that specialise in detecting fake reviews submitted to our Platform. If we find any, we delete them and, if necessary, take action against whoever is responsible.
Anyone else who spots something suspicious can always report it to our Customer Service team, so our Fraud team can investigate.
Ideally, we would publish every review we receive, whether positive or negative. However, we won’t display any review that includes or refers to (among other things):
To make sure reviews are relevant, we may only accept reviews that are submitted within 3 months of checking out, and we may stop showing reviews once they’re 36 months old – or if the Accommodation has a change of ownership.
An Accommodation may choose to reply to a review.
When you see multiple reviews, the most recent ones will be at the top, subject to a few other factors (what language a review is in, whether it’s just a rating or contains comments as well, etc.). If you like, you can sort and/or filter them (by time of year, review score, etc.).
We sometimes show external review scores from other well-known travel websites. We make it clear when we’ve done this.
These guidelines and standards aim to keep the content on Booking.com relevant and family-friendly without limiting expression of strong opinions. They are also applicable regardless of the sentiment of the comment.
Contributions should be travel related. The most helpful contributions are detailed and help others make better decisions. Please don’t include personal, political, ethical, or religious commentary. Promotional content will be removed and issues concerning Booking.com’s services should be routed to our Customer Service or Accommodation Service teams.
Contributions should be appropriate for a global audience. Please avoid using profanity or attempts to approximate profanity with creative spelling, in any language. Comments and media that include 'hate speech', discriminatory remarks, threats, sexually explicit remarks, violence, and the promotion of illegal activity are not permitted.
All content should be genuine and unique to the guest. Reviews are most valuable when they are original and unbiased. Your contribution should be yours. Booking.com property partners should not post on behalf of guests or offer incentives in exchange for reviews. Attempts to bring down the rating of a competitor by submitting a negative review will not be tolerated.
Respect the privacy of others. Booking.com will make an effort to obscure email addresses, telephone numbers, website addresses, social media accounts, and similar details.
The opinions expressed in contributions are those of Booking.com customers and properties and not of Booking.com. Booking.com does not accept responsibility or liability for any reviews or responses. Booking.com is a distributor (without any obligation to verify) and not a publisher of these comments and responses.
By default, reviews are sorted based on the date of the review and on additional criteria to display the most relevant reviews, including but not limited to: your language, reviews with text, and non-anonymous reviews. Additional sorting options may be available (by type of traveller, by score, etc.).

United KingdomSome guests were noisy when they came in about 2am talking in loud voices and clattering up the stairs. Seagulls noisy in the morning but to be expected in Brighton ! slight drain smell notable in en-suite . Carpet could do with updating. However room served my requirements .
Breakfast not provided. I just needed somewhere of good value to stay whilst visiting Brighten due to my daughter being poorly in hospital. I was pleasantly surprised as the hotel was generally pleasing , the entrance and reception were quirky decorated with art nouveau pics, paraphernalia. Room decorated in similar manner. Room comfy, nice crisp/ clean bedding nice en-suite shower room. On whole room served my requirements & I would consider booking again

United KingdomBeware if your stay is on the top floor, the last set of stairs is a killer. The shower in our room (10) was just a dribble but we didn't get a chance to mention it during our stay. The windows in the room didn't open properly so it was very hot. Parking is very expensive.
When we told staff about the shower at checkout, they were responsive and assured us it would be looked at. The location is super central and just a very short walk from bars, cafés, the beach and the centre including 'The Lanes'. Staff (owner) at checking were friendly and helpful. LGBTQ+ friendly Very reasonably priced, especially given location. Loved the decorative style. Able to park on road outside building.

United KingdomThe only real complaint I had was the water pressure in the shower was quite low. This is a feature of some older houses in the UK generally so I am sure they have received this feedback before, and not certain that there is anything that can really be done about it. But yeah, it was not ideal but we made do with it with a bit of extra time & patience when showering.
We did not really have to interact with the staff much, but when booking and requesting late check-in they were able to accommodate this happily. The instructions they left were clear, and everything worked. It's always a bit of a fright when having to check-in after the desk staff has gone home, but everything ran very smoothly. It was also cute. It's in a very old building so it looked a bit out of a different era, but in a good way.

IrelandThe only thing was it could be a bit noisy when people came into the lobby at night as I was on the ground floor which was great as I have bad knees. That's about it, though.
Great location, and staff were very helpful. Nice clean room, with a kettle and tea bags, milk etc.

The room was fantastic and very comfortable, the bathroom facilities were on point and the shower was amazing. The hotel offered parking permits at a cost but was cheaper and more convenient than finding a local NCP or a parking fine on your car.

United KingdomIf being extremely picky, the walls were quite thin so could hear other guests and the reception area as people came in and out. But I had ear plugs, so problem solved!
We loved everything!! Location was great for us, a short walk down the seafront to Brighton. The staff that welcomed us was lovely and friendly. We booked the room with the four poster bed and it was SO COMFY!!! And so well priced. Will come again!!

United KingdomWater pressure for the shower was very poor which was the only disappointment. The fact that I paid for a parking permit to still get a ticket I now have to fight even though the permit was displayed is really annoying but that is the councils moronic staff not being able to open their eyes. Just annoying it happened.
situated close to the beach, quiet and wifi was great. short walk from everything you could need. lovely little place. would highly recommend to anyone looking to visit. Staff were lovely too, very friendly.

GermanyThe windows in the small single room didn't seal very well so there was there was cold air coming in, but there was a heater in the room. I probably wouldn't have had to have it so high if the windows were sealed better.
Charlotte was very helpful and responsive. The location was nice near the water and about a 10 minute walk to the centre of Brighton.
