Each review score is between 1-10. To get the overall score that you see, we add up all the review scores we’ve received and divide that total by the number of review scores we’ve received. We are currently testing a weighted review system in Malta and Iceland (excluding hotel and vacation rental chains). For properties in these countries, the more recent the review, the bigger the impact on the total review score calculation. In addition, guests can give separate ‘subscores’ in crucial areas, such as location, cleanliness, staff, comfort, facilities, value for money and free Wi-Fi. Note that guests submit their subscores and their overall scores independently, so there’s no direct link between them.
You can review an Accommodation that you booked through our Platform if you stayed there or if you arrived at the property but didn’t actually stay there. To edit a review you’ve already submitted, please contact our Customer Service team.
We have people and automated systems that specialise in detecting fake reviews submitted to our Platform. If we find any, we delete them and, if necessary, take action against whoever is responsible.
Anyone else who spots something suspicious can always report it to our Customer Service team, so our Fraud team can investigate.
Ideally, we would publish every review we receive, whether positive or negative. However, we won’t display any review that includes or refers to (among other things):
To make sure reviews are relevant, we may only accept reviews that are submitted within 3 months of checking out, and we may stop showing reviews once they’re 36 months old – or if the Accommodation has a change of ownership.
An Accommodation may choose to reply to a review.
When you see multiple reviews, the most recent ones will be at the top, subject to a few other factors (what language a review is in, whether it’s just a rating or contains comments as well, etc.). If you like, you can sort and/or filter them (by time of year, review score, etc.).
We sometimes show external review scores from other well-known travel websites. We make it clear when we’ve done this.
These guidelines and standards aim to keep the content on Booking.com relevant and family-friendly without limiting expression of strong opinions. They are also applicable regardless of the sentiment of the comment.
Contributions should be travel related. The most helpful contributions are detailed and help others make better decisions. Please don’t include personal, political, ethical, or religious commentary. Promotional content will be removed and issues concerning Booking.com’s services should be routed to our Customer Service or Accommodation Service teams.
Contributions should be appropriate for a global audience. Please avoid using profanity or attempts to approximate profanity with creative spelling, in any language. Comments and media that include 'hate speech', discriminatory remarks, threats, sexually explicit remarks, violence, and the promotion of illegal activity are not permitted.
All content should be genuine and unique to the guest. Reviews are most valuable when they are original and unbiased. Your contribution should be yours. Booking.com property partners should not post on behalf of guests or offer incentives in exchange for reviews. Attempts to bring down the rating of a competitor by submitting a negative review will not be tolerated.
Respect the privacy of others. Booking.com will make an effort to obscure email addresses, telephone numbers, website addresses, social media accounts, and similar details.
The opinions expressed in contributions are those of Booking.com customers and properties and not of Booking.com. Booking.com does not accept responsibility or liability for any reviews or responses. Booking.com is a distributor (without any obligation to verify) and not a publisher of these comments and responses.
By default, reviews are sorted based on the date of the review and on additional criteria to display the most relevant reviews, including but not limited to: your language, reviews with text, and non-anonymous reviews. Additional sorting options may be available (by type of traveller, by score, etc.).

United StatesI struggled with transportation issues. It is about half an hour from London. It is easy to just sit down and relax and not get anything done. I did make it to a play, despite a last-minute closure of one train on my route. I reiterate...all modes of travel are only a short distance from the property.
This is a hostel in a beautiful old brick building. I rented a private room, not a dorm. There is a bar where you can order breakfast. There is also a shared kitchen and a lovely common room where you can relax and wait for your room or plug in your computer and work. I was able to rent a locker when I wanted to sightsee before I left for the airport. There are buses, taxis, and the underground nearby. There is a laundry with laundry soap and a dryer open 24/7. There are restaurants and a small market a short distance from the hostel. And the young people staffing the front desk are very helpful with booking, and suggestions for tourist activities.

OmanThe wifi was extremely bad, it doesn't not reach the room (005) and I would suggest to atleast selling a portable pidet or installing one as an upgrade to your bathrooms. Finally, it would be nice to also add more dishes to your daily breakfast such as omelette or scrambled eggs.
The staff were great, they were very helpful and friendly. The location was good

CanadaThe facility is a bit dated, everything in it is old. Overall it’s clean, but the carpets and such had some dirt. The showers were also inconsistent, I used 3 of them and some of them were very strong and others were very weak.
It does the job. It’s close to a tube station and several bus stops.

United KingdomThere aren't many sinks on the 2nd floor to get ready/brush teeth etc so you might find yourself going between bathroom areas but overall it's a great place
The location is brilliant. There are three underground stops nearby to take you to the centre and wherever you want to go. You can easily go direct to King's Cross for example. It's a nice part of London with lovely houses and trees etc nearby. The building itself is lovely and feels comfortable and historical. There are curtains on beds which is a key plus for me. Lots of showers, nice staff who make an effort to talk to you when checking in (not everywhere does). It's clean and has recycling points which is cool to dispose of plastic etc properly. Great price too. This was my 2nd stay and I'd definitely come back.

IrelandThey are strict on the check out time. It's an early 10am, but I was packing my bag at 10.05 and someone was checking the rooms. Felt a little uncomfortable. The kitchen is far too small for its size, which is acknowledged, but there might aswell be on kitchen. They have a no alcholol policy unless it's purchased in their bar. The room was small, I have always stayed in the larger dowms to date, which I would prefer.
Great area, walking distance to Camden town, close to a Waitrose and the train station. Plenty of shops. The area closes early on weeknights, but is lively during the day.

United KingdomPerhaps larger lockers all around as the lockers in some rooms had more capacity than others.
The location is great and the space of the venue is utilised well. Wi-fi was great and appreciated all the different facilities such as the bar, kitchen, laundry and drinking fountain.

FranceThe chests to store the luggage were a bit hard to access (under the bed, they made a little noise when opening, so not the best at night). Maybe one or two more hooks for jackets and towels would be amazing.
Great room and decoration, the hostel is very secure and made me feel safe. The showers and bathrooms were alright, cleaned daily, nothing to complain about. The location of the hostel, right out the Swiss Cottage station made it wonderful.

NorwayIf you can't stand some noise, it's not the best choice. Many sounds from traffic outside and other guests. (Doors slamming just outside the room).
All you need, a clean bed, a bathroom and cheap luggage storage. Very close to the underground, all within reach. Much better than expensive hotel i sone 1.

Hong KongI was a bit disappointed to be offered a padlock priced at five pounds! I promptly went around the corner and bought one in a local store for 2.99 (this was on a Sunday at 5pm and I think I could have got one for even less if more shops had been open). Also the next day I asked for a Diet Coke at reception, only to be told that they were priced at 2.50 each... To me, the mark-ups on these products seem inflated, especially considering that I was already a customer at the hostel. Especially regarding the padlock, it seems quite exploitative to try to charge 5.00 for these (I did not see one, but I suspect they were 'basic' at best). Similarly, does a Coke really need to come at 2.50??)
Staff were friendly and professional on arrival. The property is clearly well looked after and beautifully furnished. The standard of cleanliness was very high.
