Each review score is between 1-10. To get the overall score that you see, we add up all the review scores we’ve received and divide that total by the number of review scores we’ve received. We are currently testing a weighted review system in Malta and Iceland (excluding hotel and vacation rental chains). For properties in these countries, the more recent the review, the bigger the impact on the total review score calculation. In addition, guests can give separate ‘subscores’ in crucial areas, such as location, cleanliness, staff, comfort, facilities, value for money and free Wi-Fi. Note that guests submit their subscores and their overall scores independently, so there’s no direct link between them.
You can review an Accommodation that you booked through our Platform if you stayed there or if you arrived at the property but didn’t actually stay there. To edit a review you’ve already submitted, please contact our Customer Service team.
We have people and automated systems that specialise in detecting fake reviews submitted to our Platform. If we find any, we delete them and, if necessary, take action against whoever is responsible.
Anyone else who spots something suspicious can always report it to our Customer Service team, so our Fraud team can investigate.
Ideally, we would publish every review we receive, whether positive or negative. However, we won’t display any review that includes or refers to (among other things):
To make sure reviews are relevant, we may only accept reviews that are submitted within 3 months of checking out, and we may stop showing reviews once they’re 36 months old – or if the Accommodation has a change of ownership.
An Accommodation may choose to reply to a review.
When you see multiple reviews, the most recent ones will be at the top, subject to a few other factors (what language a review is in, whether it’s just a rating or contains comments as well, etc.). If you like, you can sort and/or filter them (by time of year, review score, etc.).
We sometimes show external review scores from other well-known travel websites. We make it clear when we’ve done this.
These guidelines and standards aim to keep the content on Booking.com relevant and family-friendly without limiting expression of strong opinions. They are also applicable regardless of the sentiment of the comment.
Contributions should be travel related. The most helpful contributions are detailed and help others make better decisions. Please don’t include personal, political, ethical, or religious commentary. Promotional content will be removed and issues concerning Booking.com’s services should be routed to our Customer Service or Accommodation Service teams.
Contributions should be appropriate for a global audience. Please avoid using profanity or attempts to approximate profanity with creative spelling, in any language. Comments and media that include 'hate speech', discriminatory remarks, threats, sexually explicit remarks, violence, and the promotion of illegal activity are not permitted.
All content should be genuine and unique to the guest. Reviews are most valuable when they are original and unbiased. Your contribution should be yours. Booking.com property partners should not post on behalf of guests or offer incentives in exchange for reviews. Attempts to bring down the rating of a competitor by submitting a negative review will not be tolerated.
Respect the privacy of others. Booking.com will make an effort to obscure email addresses, telephone numbers, website addresses, social media accounts, and similar details.
The opinions expressed in contributions are those of Booking.com customers and properties and not of Booking.com. Booking.com does not accept responsibility or liability for any reviews or responses. Booking.com is a distributor (without any obligation to verify) and not a publisher of these comments and responses.
By default, reviews are sorted based on the date of the review and on additional criteria to display the most relevant reviews, including but not limited to: your language, reviews with text, and non-anonymous reviews. Additional sorting options may be available (by type of traveller, by score, etc.).

AustraliaLoved our stay but dont try to drive down the narrow lanes to the property just stay on the main roads and head to the Tate Gallery where you can park then walk down to the guest house, 4 minute walk down sloped road.
The view! Situated close to the waterfront is this little slice of heaven. The host was so lovely and the room was spotlessly clean with a comfy double bed. Nice private bathroom with good water pressure. Never ever seen a better view in 6 weeks of travel as Palma Guest house. Looks great in photos, but it takes your breath away when you actually see it. Paid parking is available near the Tate Gallery and while you're up there check out the panoramic views from there as well. Access to the seafront is via a little lane straight out the front of the guest house and there are 2 sets of stairs down with hand railings. It's easy to walk down and up and brings you into the centre of all the lovely shops, restaurants, bakery and galleries.

United KingdomNothing major, but no hooks anywhere on doors to hang eg coats, towels etc. And would prefer a summer duvet rather than 10.5 tog.
Sea views to die for! Comfortable and light room and warm welcome.

United StatesNot a problem for us, but steep stairs to the bedroom, a steep walk uphill to the house, and another steep walk to a convenient car park atop the hill.
Spectacular location with a sweeping bay window view of St. Ives and the Harbour. Phenomenal view. Caring and helpful host, Pat, will greet you with warmth and charm. Minutes from the Tate and all attractions of town. Highest recommendation.

United KingdomWe stayed in Palma guest house between 30th April and 5th May 2024. Our room was at the corner of the top floor and had one of the best views we've ever had in a guest house/hotel before. The location was excellent, just a few minutes from the centre of the town, Tate Modern and Porthmeor Beach. It was always a delight being greeted by Pat in the morning when we left or in the afternoon/evening when we came back and made us feel as if were visiting family. Pat's daughter was responsible for the cleaning and we believe we've never seen such a clean bathroom before. Our room was serviced daily and it made us feel very welcome each time we came back from a long day of exploring and sightseeing. Thank you so much for everything and we'll see you again! E&Y

United StatesThe bedroom can accommodate two, but it's best suited to one. Luckily I was staying with my mom and so we were very comfortable with each other. Overall, in the UK, we have found that they prefer Double beds, rather than Queen or King. So it's a tight sleep and you better be comfortable with whoever you share a room with. We also didn't love the bathroom - the shower was really complex to use and hard to figure out and was the ONLY reason we were happy we only had two nights there. The faucet and shower heads were not ideal for the size of shower and water would get everywhere and the water flow was kind of painful due to the tight squeeze. There wasn't really enough information about arrival at the train station. Heads up for anyone not local/not from the uk - when you arrive, there are no taxi's and the bus information is not present at the station because if you arrive after hours it's all closed up and there is no posted info or phone numbers for arrival pickups. It would have been nice if there was someplace to sit outside as well, due to the tight space in the room.
The view from the bedroom was incredible - seriously beautiful - and we felt so happy and so lucky that not only did we have a great view, but that the windows opened and we could have fresh air. That was so so important to us! The woman who runs the Bed and Breakfast is so sweet, also, and very kind. The location of this property is so perfect with easy walking to the restaurants and shopping available in St. Ives. We also *really* loved that our room locked with a skeleton key and the furniture in the room is vintage Hollywood Regency and includes the most beautiful armoire for your closet use. The Armoire is big and had room for us to hang our things and also store our suitcases and bags. We are "carry-on" only travlers so it was easeful for us. Heads up to weary travelers - there are stairs only and the proprietor is a senior so you are carrying your things up the stairs to your room, we were fine with this. So fun and cute and a really unique way to stay in St. Ives and explore Cornwall. Staying here made us feel as if we would like to return and stay longer - off season. What a beautiful place to visit!
