Each review score is between 1-10. To get the overall score that you see, we add up all the review scores we’ve received and divide that total by the number of review scores we’ve received. We are currently testing a weighted review system in Malta and Iceland (excluding hotel and vacation rental chains). For properties in these countries, the more recent the review, the bigger the impact on the total review score calculation. In addition, guests can give separate ‘subscores’ in crucial areas, such as location, cleanliness, staff, comfort, facilities, value for money and free Wi-Fi. Note that guests submit their subscores and their overall scores independently, so there’s no direct link between them.
You can review an Accommodation that you booked through our Platform if you stayed there or if you arrived at the property but didn’t actually stay there. To edit a review you’ve already submitted, please contact our Customer Service team.
We have people and automated systems that specialise in detecting fake reviews submitted to our Platform. If we find any, we delete them and, if necessary, take action against whoever is responsible.
Anyone else who spots something suspicious can always report it to our Customer Service team, so our Fraud team can investigate.
Ideally, we would publish every review we receive, whether positive or negative. However, we won’t display any review that includes or refers to (among other things):
To make sure reviews are relevant, we may only accept reviews that are submitted within 3 months of checking out, and we may stop showing reviews once they’re 36 months old – or if the Accommodation has a change of ownership.
An Accommodation may choose to reply to a review.
When you see multiple reviews, the most recent ones will be at the top, subject to a few other factors (what language a review is in, whether it’s just a rating or contains comments as well, etc.). If you like, you can sort and/or filter them (by time of year, review score, etc.).
We sometimes show external review scores from other well-known travel websites. We make it clear when we’ve done this.
These guidelines and standards aim to keep the content on Booking.com relevant and family-friendly without limiting expression of strong opinions. They are also applicable regardless of the sentiment of the comment.
Contributions should be travel related. The most helpful contributions are detailed and help others make better decisions. Please don’t include personal, political, ethical, or religious commentary. Promotional content will be removed and issues concerning Booking.com’s services should be routed to our Customer Service or Accommodation Service teams.
Contributions should be appropriate for a global audience. Please avoid using profanity or attempts to approximate profanity with creative spelling, in any language. Comments and media that include 'hate speech', discriminatory remarks, threats, sexually explicit remarks, violence, and the promotion of illegal activity are not permitted.
All content should be genuine and unique to the guest. Reviews are most valuable when they are original and unbiased. Your contribution should be yours. Booking.com property partners should not post on behalf of guests or offer incentives in exchange for reviews. Attempts to bring down the rating of a competitor by submitting a negative review will not be tolerated.
Respect the privacy of others. Booking.com will make an effort to obscure email addresses, telephone numbers, website addresses, social media accounts, and similar details.
The opinions expressed in contributions are those of Booking.com customers and properties and not of Booking.com. Booking.com does not accept responsibility or liability for any reviews or responses. Booking.com is a distributor (without any obligation to verify) and not a publisher of these comments and responses.
By default, reviews are sorted based on the date of the review and on additional criteria to display the most relevant reviews, including but not limited to: your language, reviews with text, and non-anonymous reviews. Additional sorting options may be available (by type of traveller, by score, etc.).

United KingdomThe heating was set a bit too high for us. But we were able to adjust. My 5'11" husband bumped his head downstairs on the door frame a few times. Maybe a sign could be installed
Having towels and bedding provided, along with beds being made saved us time and saved space in the car. The breakfast hamper was amazing. We had milk, bread, eggs, apple juice, butter, chocolate, biscuits, cereal, tea, coffee and sugar. This was very much appreciated. Thank you

NetherlandsThe traffic noise is a downside, but not much to be done about that.
We stayed here last summer and now came back, which we normally don't do, but this is such a nice house to be in! It's very homely, very well cleaned. The garden is nice. Parking the car takes a little more time because of the gate, but at least you get a private parking space. You can have nice walks from the house.

Germanylovely little cottage, right in the heart of the small village of Pevensey. it was well equipped, really felt like home and not like being in a rented cottage. The exchange with the owner was very smooth, very fast response. The place is directly opposite a pub, and a few metres down the road is another one. We did a lot of walks two which started right away from the cottage. The owner placed a basket with some first food helpings in the kitchen, also some in the fridge which was much appreciated as we arrived late. The cottages is placed right at a very busy road, there are many cars travelling through Pevensey. The living room and one of the two bedrooms are facing to the road. Light sleepers should consider this.

United KingdomThere really was nothing to dislike about the property.
The cottage was extremely comfortable and warm, and very welcoming. The hosts were really accommodating, and the welcome pack was indeed welcome, especially the cupcakes, candles and card for our anniversary.

NetherlandsTraffic noise is pretty bad, especially in the master bedroom.
Very well equiped. Everything thought of. There was even a pack of new toothbrushes and toothpaste in the bathroom in case you forgot your own. All sorts of things you would have in store at home were supplied here as well. Cleaner did a very good job, no dust to be found anywhere. House is nicely renovated and charmingly decorated. Welcoming pack is indeed very welcoming to recieve. Garden is a plus.

NetherlandsOur car only had 3 inches room to squeeze into the parking lot (mirror-to-mirror). The headroom at some doors was too little. It took a while and some hits to avoid that :-(

United KingdomEverything was fine, so no comment needed here.
Very well equipped; everything we needed for a week long stay was provided. The welcome hamper of goodies was much appreciated. The owners communicated all we needed through e-mail, plus there was helpful information in the property. Given we went for long walks on several days - regardless of the weather - it was ideal to have the ability to wash and dry clothes at the property. We got more than a bit wet a couple of times... Excellent wi-fi, plus a TV with lots of channel options for when the weather was just too much. Wholehearted recommendation from us.

United KingdomCouldn't find a bread knife ! :)
Best cottage we have ever stayed in. The hosts were really thoughtful and the whole experience from the booking to the departure was faultless. The property has been subject of a renovation and it was as near to brand new as you could find in terms of accommodation. The owners seem to have thought of everything. We may not come this way again but I would definitely recommend Oriel Cottage to anyone visiting the area and looking for a quality cottage to stay.
