Each review score is between 1-10. To get the overall score that you see, we add up all the review scores we’ve received and divide that total by the number of review scores we’ve received. We are currently testing a weighted review system in Malta and Iceland (excluding hotel and vacation rental chains). For properties in these countries, the more recent the review, the bigger the impact on the total review score calculation. In addition, guests can give separate ‘subscores’ in crucial areas, such as location, cleanliness, staff, comfort, facilities, value for money and free Wi-Fi. Note that guests submit their subscores and their overall scores independently, so there’s no direct link between them.
You can review an Accommodation that you booked through our Platform if you stayed there or if you arrived at the property but didn’t actually stay there. To edit a review you’ve already submitted, please contact our Customer Service team.
We have people and automated systems that specialise in detecting fake reviews submitted to our Platform. If we find any, we delete them and, if necessary, take action against whoever is responsible.
Anyone else who spots something suspicious can always report it to our Customer Service team, so our Fraud team can investigate.
Ideally, we would publish every review we receive, whether positive or negative. However, we won’t display any review that includes or refers to (among other things):
To make sure reviews are relevant, we may only accept reviews that are submitted within 3 months of checking out, and we may stop showing reviews once they’re 36 months old – or if the Accommodation has a change of ownership.
An Accommodation may choose to reply to a review.
When you see multiple reviews, the most recent ones will be at the top, subject to a few other factors (what language a review is in, whether it’s just a rating or contains comments as well, etc.). If you like, you can sort and/or filter them (by time of year, review score, etc.).
We sometimes show external review scores from other well-known travel websites. We make it clear when we’ve done this.
These guidelines and standards aim to keep the content on Booking.com relevant and family-friendly without limiting expression of strong opinions. They are also applicable regardless of the sentiment of the comment.
Contributions should be travel related. The most helpful contributions are detailed and help others make better decisions. Please don’t include personal, political, ethical, or religious commentary. Promotional content will be removed and issues concerning Booking.com’s services should be routed to our Customer Service or Accommodation Service teams.
Contributions should be appropriate for a global audience. Please avoid using profanity or attempts to approximate profanity with creative spelling, in any language. Comments and media that include 'hate speech', discriminatory remarks, threats, sexually explicit remarks, violence, and the promotion of illegal activity are not permitted.
All content should be genuine and unique to the guest. Reviews are most valuable when they are original and unbiased. Your contribution should be yours. Booking.com property partners should not post on behalf of guests or offer incentives in exchange for reviews. Attempts to bring down the rating of a competitor by submitting a negative review will not be tolerated.
Respect the privacy of others. Booking.com will make an effort to obscure email addresses, telephone numbers, website addresses, social media accounts, and similar details.
The opinions expressed in contributions are those of Booking.com customers and properties and not of Booking.com. Booking.com does not accept responsibility or liability for any reviews or responses. Booking.com is a distributor (without any obligation to verify) and not a publisher of these comments and responses.
By default, reviews are sorted based on the date of the review and on additional criteria to display the most relevant reviews, including but not limited to: your language, reviews with text, and non-anonymous reviews. Additional sorting options may be available (by type of traveller, by score, etc.).

United KingdomParking needs to be addressed as you can only park on the side drive if requested. We all agreed that parking on the front wasn’t safe for our cars due to fast card driving past .
The property was beautiful inside and out. Well equipped, very comfortable and cosy. We really enjoyed our stay .

United KingdomCan't say didnt like anything, for us we like a evening cuppa in bed and the tv, and no tv on bedroom, but that wouldnt stop us staying again.
We stayed for a wedding and this cottage was perfect only 7 mins away from venue. The hosts were great, communicated way in advance and helped me out when we arrived with the parking instructions etc, cottage is so quaint amd modern at the same time, very very comfortable, would love to stay again.

United KingdomThe bedrooms were on different floors, which could be an issue for young families (but a positive for older families/groups of friends)
The cottage was comfortable, clean and tastefully decorated. The beds were exceptionally comfortable. Caroline was very helpful. The cottage is ideally located for trips in to Chester and exploring the beautiful surrounding countryside.

United KingdomWe don't have an induction hob so need instuction! Perhaps a divided bin for re-cycling would be useful. These are very minor points. It was brilliant!
In my original review I somehow omitted to say how wonderfully helpful the host Caroline was from the time we booked until arrival and beyond. The cottage was great for us as a couple and adult daughter with downstairs bedroom for us and the 2nd upstairs. Very cosy and welcoming with milk and biscuits provided. Two excellent showers and a bath, spacious well equipped kitchen, a pleasant outdoor seating area, a comfortable combined seating and dining area with large TV. Wiithin a few minutes drive of Kelsall with excellent pubs for food and a great Co-op, pharmacy and coffee shop. Bed linen and towels all beautiful quality. We were there for the Folk Festival as we're not calm campers and the location was great. We didn't walk to the venues as walking back along the country road at night would be best with a high vis jacket. It's a great spot to visit Chester and all that beautiful Cheshire has to offer and also for trips into North Wales.

United KingdomThe only thing we struggled with was finding the cottage (we drove past it at first) and it was unclear exactly where to park. I had to phone Caroline to confirm when we arrived, and she was very helpful when we spoke. Also, the code for the key lockbox was different to the one I was sent in an email, luckily she told me the actual code while we were on the phone.
I stayed at this cottage the night before my wedding with my bridesmaids and mum as I was getting married nearby. The owner, Caroline, was so accommodating to our needs and did everything to make our stay as stress-free as possible. She even left us a bottle of prosecco to celebrate my big day which was such a nice personal touch! I can't say a bad word about Caroline or the cottage. We also ate at The Boot Inn pub a 5 minute walk away which was lovely.

United KingdomParking is not the best very busy country lane , When going upstairs there’s a normal door to another property (owners) ?? felt a bit unprivate you could see through the acritrading a bit there was a lock on our side but still I was shocked and upon arrival part of the house was attached to the other side the chapel which their kitchen was the top window very strange when someone appeared looking through window ! And we were woken up early from them abound walking around . It’s a shame as it’s a lovely cottage but I think people should now the layout of this and should be told there is a doorway leading to owners property .
The location is fab close to pubs , towns The cottage hasn’t been done very tastefully excellent comfy beds Very cosy . Morris dancer pub excepts dogs in side and the food is excellent

Very cute cottage, brilliant host with great communication, lovely pub 5 minutes away. Easy check in. Kitchen well equipped. bedrooms nice but not suitable for 6 adults to sleep as sofa bed too small. Host did communicate this at time of booking however so cannot fault the host.
