Each review score is between 1-10. To get the overall score that you see, we add up all the review scores we’ve received and divide that total by the number of review scores we’ve received. We are currently testing a weighted review system in Malta and Iceland (excluding hotel and vacation rental chains). For properties in these countries, the more recent the review, the bigger the impact on the total review score calculation. In addition, guests can give separate ‘subscores’ in crucial areas, such as location, cleanliness, staff, comfort, facilities, value for money and free Wi-Fi. Note that guests submit their subscores and their overall scores independently, so there’s no direct link between them.
You can review an Accommodation that you booked through our Platform if you stayed there or if you arrived at the property but didn’t actually stay there. To edit a review you’ve already submitted, please contact our Customer Service team.
We have people and automated systems that specialise in detecting fake reviews submitted to our Platform. If we find any, we delete them and, if necessary, take action against whoever is responsible.
Anyone else who spots something suspicious can always report it to our Customer Service team, so our Fraud team can investigate.
Ideally, we would publish every review we receive, whether positive or negative. However, we won’t display any review that includes or refers to (among other things):
To make sure reviews are relevant, we may only accept reviews that are submitted within 3 months of checking out, and we may stop showing reviews once they’re 36 months old – or if the Accommodation has a change of ownership.
An Accommodation may choose to reply to a review.
When you see multiple reviews, the most recent ones will be at the top, subject to a few other factors (what language a review is in, whether it’s just a rating or contains comments as well, etc.). If you like, you can sort and/or filter them (by time of year, review score, etc.).
We sometimes show external review scores from other well-known travel websites. We make it clear when we’ve done this.
These guidelines and standards aim to keep the content on Booking.com relevant and family-friendly without limiting expression of strong opinions. They are also applicable regardless of the sentiment of the comment.
Contributions should be travel related. The most helpful contributions are detailed and help others make better decisions. Please don’t include personal, political, ethical, or religious commentary. Promotional content will be removed and issues concerning Booking.com’s services should be routed to our Customer Service or Accommodation Service teams.
Contributions should be appropriate for a global audience. Please avoid using profanity or attempts to approximate profanity with creative spelling, in any language. Comments and media that include 'hate speech', discriminatory remarks, threats, sexually explicit remarks, violence, and the promotion of illegal activity are not permitted.
All content should be genuine and unique to the guest. Reviews are most valuable when they are original and unbiased. Your contribution should be yours. Booking.com property partners should not post on behalf of guests or offer incentives in exchange for reviews. Attempts to bring down the rating of a competitor by submitting a negative review will not be tolerated.
Respect the privacy of others. Booking.com will make an effort to obscure email addresses, telephone numbers, website addresses, social media accounts, and similar details.
The opinions expressed in contributions are those of Booking.com customers and properties and not of Booking.com. Booking.com does not accept responsibility or liability for any reviews or responses. Booking.com is a distributor (without any obligation to verify) and not a publisher of these comments and responses.
By default, reviews are sorted based on the date of the review and on additional criteria to display the most relevant reviews, including but not limited to: your language, reviews with text, and non-anonymous reviews. Additional sorting options may be available (by type of traveller, by score, etc.).

United KingdomThe cottage was absolutely lovely and we would definitely come again. The views from the cottage are outstanding, and it was lovely to wake up to! The cottage is well furnished and has a lovely modern kitchen with everything you need. All the bedrooms were lovely but the attic bedroom is an extra special feature that has a really comfortable bed, gorgeous wooden beams and a fantastic picture window with views over the hills! The hosts also left us a lovely welcome pack with coffee bags, tea, sugar, biscuits, and milk, plus some cleaning essentials, which were very useful. The informative welcome guide the hosts sent was full of invaluable information relating to the property and the local area.

United KingdomThere was nothing there that we did not like.
Absolutely fabulous property. Large Mill conversion, which has been tastefully converted into 3 separate residences, I would like the builder to do work on my own house as the quality of the conversion was outstanding. Although only 2 of us we stayed in a sleep 6 with 3 bedrooms 2 bathrooms and 3 toilets. High-quality fixtures and fittings throughout, great views, and well-appointed kitchen led to a relaxed stay. The lounge was really comfortable, and having good Internet, Sky tv, Netflix, and a DVD player was a great bonus. Great location in Dales for visiting attractions, local pub and restaurant only 10 min walk, Aysgarth Falls only 12 min drive away. If in the area will definitely book again.

United KingdomThe property is ideally located for a stay in the Yorkshire Dales. Looking out of every window was like looking at a scenic painting - stunning! The property itself is extremely well equipped for a family - although there were only 2 of us on this trip. But everything has been thought of! Ideal for trips out to Aysgart Falls, with Leyburn, Middleham and Hawes all easily reached by car.

United KingdomThe living room sofas are quite run down and smell of dampness, which isn't ideal. The master bedroom had spiderwebs all over the ceiling. The property was clean overall, but the visible spiderwebs when going to sleep is not that great. There are no condiments at the property (ie cooking oil, ketchup, etc) which means you have to bring every single cooking item with you. There's a picture on the property of cereal, butter, jam etc and a note saying to use what's there and replenish, but nothing at all was available other than coffee, tea and milk. This is absolutely fine, but information is misleading. There was also no spare toilet paper, only 1 roll in each toilet and no spare. I did bring this to the hosts attention and apparently cleaners should have left spare and offered to rectify, which was very kind, but too late really as we already bought. They did offer to refund too.
The house is very quirky which we quite like and look for. Location is brilliant, with walks and attractions close by. It's a very quiet location, which is great. House was great size, it can accommodate 6 people and we were 4, so plenty of space. The kitchen is equipped OK, enough for us to make breakfast and quick lunches. There was plenty of tea and coffee available and even cookies were left, which is a nice touch. The fridge had milk provided which was also nice.

United KingdomThere was nothing we didn't like. Our expectations were fully met.
This historic former agricultural building has been renovated to a very high standard both in terms of the refurbishment and the furnishings. The ambience is delightful. An added bonus for us, as a family group, was that each bedroom has its own bathroom. This is very unusual. Also the on-line property guide book is outstandingly informative. A lot of thought has been put into this ... the best we have ever experienced.

United KingdomI got constant information and details from the hosts about the property, the area, things to do and all about the house and village. They have even created their own app for the property that can be stored offline on your phone to help with directions and information. The bedrooms are spacious, comfortable and tidy, and 3 bathrooms is fantastic. The living room area is ideal to chill out after a good walk and the dining table a great size for 6 people to eat at comfortably. The location is great and close to Aysgarth Falls, Hawes, Castle Bolton and lots of hikes

United KingdomNothing, it was fantastic. Thank you!
A lovely comfortable stay in a pretty and quiet dales village. Host was always friendly and helpful in all communications. The property was cosy and immaculate (comfy beds and good shower!); there was plenty of space, a well equipped kitchen and clear instructions for everything. We had a wonderful visit and wouldn't hesitate to recommend it. Every day it felt like we'd 'come home'. We'd love to go back!
