Each review score is between 1-10. To get the overall score that you see, we add up all the review scores we’ve received and divide that total by the number of review scores we’ve received. We are currently testing a weighted review system in Malta and Iceland (excluding hotel and vacation rental chains). For properties in these countries, the more recent the review, the bigger the impact on the total review score calculation. In addition, guests can give separate ‘subscores’ in crucial areas, such as location, cleanliness, staff, comfort, facilities, value for money and free Wi-Fi. Note that guests submit their subscores and their overall scores independently, so there’s no direct link between them.
You can review an Accommodation that you booked through our Platform if you stayed there or if you arrived at the property but didn’t actually stay there. To edit a review you’ve already submitted, please contact our Customer Service team.
We have people and automated systems that specialise in detecting fake reviews submitted to our Platform. If we find any, we delete them and, if necessary, take action against whoever is responsible.
Anyone else who spots something suspicious can always report it to our Customer Service team, so our Fraud team can investigate.
Ideally, we would publish every review we receive, whether positive or negative. However, we won’t display any review that includes or refers to (among other things):
To make sure reviews are relevant, we may only accept reviews that are submitted within 3 months of checking out, and we may stop showing reviews once they’re 36 months old – or if the Accommodation has a change of ownership.
An Accommodation may choose to reply to a review.
When you see multiple reviews, the most recent ones will be at the top, subject to a few other factors (what language a review is in, whether it’s just a rating or contains comments as well, etc.). If you like, you can sort and/or filter them (by time of year, review score, etc.).
We sometimes show external review scores from other well-known travel websites. We make it clear when we’ve done this.
These guidelines and standards aim to keep the content on Booking.com relevant and family-friendly without limiting expression of strong opinions. They are also applicable regardless of the sentiment of the comment.
Contributions should be travel related. The most helpful contributions are detailed and help others make better decisions. Please don’t include personal, political, ethical, or religious commentary. Promotional content will be removed and issues concerning Booking.com’s services should be routed to our Customer Service or Accommodation Service teams.
Contributions should be appropriate for a global audience. Please avoid using profanity or attempts to approximate profanity with creative spelling, in any language. Comments and media that include 'hate speech', discriminatory remarks, threats, sexually explicit remarks, violence, and the promotion of illegal activity are not permitted.
All content should be genuine and unique to the guest. Reviews are most valuable when they are original and unbiased. Your contribution should be yours. Booking.com property partners should not post on behalf of guests or offer incentives in exchange for reviews. Attempts to bring down the rating of a competitor by submitting a negative review will not be tolerated.
Respect the privacy of others. Booking.com will make an effort to obscure email addresses, telephone numbers, website addresses, social media accounts, and similar details.
The opinions expressed in contributions are those of Booking.com customers and properties and not of Booking.com. Booking.com does not accept responsibility or liability for any reviews or responses. Booking.com is a distributor (without any obligation to verify) and not a publisher of these comments and responses.
By default, reviews are sorted based on the date of the review and on additional criteria to display the most relevant reviews, including but not limited to: your language, reviews with text, and non-anonymous reviews. Additional sorting options may be available (by type of traveller, by score, etc.).

GermanyI understand the concept is to be off-grid but at least some power outlets for phone charging would be good in the bedroom. We found a single plug socket in the house (under the dining table).

United KingdomThe sofas were a little firm difficult to lay on comfortably, which you wanted to do to enjoy wildlife in surrounding area.
The location was great, the facilities exceeded expectations, the eco and sustainability living has made us revisit our own environmental footprint. The teepee was excellent fun evening enjoyed toasting marshmallows. What a great experience sharing the area with hares and roe deer would definitely recommend for couples or families. Don’t forgot there is a beach as well to explore.

United KingdomNothing - we liked everything.
We loved everything about this cosy little cabin. It's a beautifully conceived and well thought out eco-friendly retreat - back to nature in comfort & style! Couldn't have asked for more, thoroughly enjoyed our stay & really didn't want to leave. Also set in a fantastic location, with a super cafe which has very friendly staff.

United KingdomThe sofa area could have a bit more cushioning, but it was still comfy
It was very cozy - even in the chill of January! It had everything we needed (even things we forgot at home), was very quiet and we were very impressed with all the thought that had gone into making the property as eco friendly as possible. We have now bought our own set of Dock & Bay towels too!

United KingdomA couple minor points for improvement would be additional matches and kindling for the fire. We didnt have enough matches for our stay and no axe to make kindling from the dry wood supplied. The welcome treat that was waiting for us was a nice touch but it would be better if this was vegan/GF and therefore suitable for anybody.
Cosy retreat within close reach of the beach and golf course. It was really well kitted out and the perfect place to shut off from the world for a few days.

United KingdomAlthough most of the below are not negatives about the property, there are some things you should be aware of prior to your visit: - You should note that the location of the Bothy is not accessible by car and there is some walking required to reach the location and you will need to pull all your luggage to the Bothy (there are a few wagons available in the parking area for you to use). Once you reach the location though it’s well worth it. - Be prepared for absolutely no service or WiFi. However, the company that operates the Bothy is called Off Grid Travel so that’s really to be expected! - It can get really cold in Fife (we visited in October).
The Bothy is a great place to relax away from a busy city and enjoy the Scottish countryside and Fife. There were a lot of lovely and thoughtful touches inside the property (like hot water bottles, a hammock and chairs, extra throws and blankets as it can get cold in Fife as well as portable lights and torches and even marshmallows to roast on the fire). Although the Bothy was quite small every inch of it was maximised by having a lot of clever storage spaces incorporated into the furniture. You can tell that most things inside the Bothy were bespoke, like the blinds and furniture, and a lot of thought and care was put into choosing them. What was also great was that we were offered the option to purchase a handmade hamper of local goods by the St Andrews Hamper Co that was delivered to the Bothy prior to our arrival. Overall, it was a great place to visit and we’ve had a lovely time there.

United KingdomWe loved everything about it, a full length brush to give the room a sweep would be handy
Great spot just within the treeline with loads of space that's got the fire pit, a bench and the hammock to use. The water tower also has fold up chairs, a gas BBQ, but most useful was the massive cool box, which really kept everything very cold as the fridge in the Bothy is small and didn't fit all our beers 😀 The view was amazing, especially at sunrise and its less than 10 mins walk to the beach. Wagon trolley is an inspired idea too, really helped when taking our gear the short walk to the accommodation.

United KingdomBetter facilities for keeping food cool and fresh as after 2 days the freezer blocks has melted which resulted in us having to throw away fresh meat. If guests are staying for longer than 2 nights somebody needs to pop down and swap the freezer blocks for fresh ones.
The location was stunning, peace and quiet and away from everything and could fully switch off and relax. Beautiful surroundings and beaches.
