Each review score is between 1-10. To get the overall score that you see, we add up all the review scores we’ve received and divide that total by the number of review scores we’ve received. We are currently testing a weighted review system in Malta and Iceland (excluding hotel and vacation rental chains). For properties in these countries, the more recent the review, the bigger the impact on the total review score calculation. In addition, guests can give separate ‘subscores’ in crucial areas, such as location, cleanliness, staff, comfort, facilities, value for money and free Wi-Fi. Note that guests submit their subscores and their overall scores independently, so there’s no direct link between them.
You can review an Accommodation that you booked through our Platform if you stayed there or if you arrived at the property but didn’t actually stay there. To edit a review you’ve already submitted, please contact our Customer Service team.
We have people and automated systems that specialise in detecting fake reviews submitted to our Platform. If we find any, we delete them and, if necessary, take action against whoever is responsible.
Anyone else who spots something suspicious can always report it to our Customer Service team, so our Fraud team can investigate.
Ideally, we would publish every review we receive, whether positive or negative. However, we won’t display any review that includes or refers to (among other things):
To make sure reviews are relevant, we may only accept reviews that are submitted within 3 months of checking out, and we may stop showing reviews once they’re 36 months old – or if the Accommodation has a change of ownership.
An Accommodation may choose to reply to a review.
When you see multiple reviews, the most recent ones will be at the top, subject to a few other factors (what language a review is in, whether it’s just a rating or contains comments as well, etc.). If you like, you can sort and/or filter them (by time of year, review score, etc.).
We sometimes show external review scores from other well-known travel websites. We make it clear when we’ve done this.
These guidelines and standards aim to keep the content on Booking.com relevant and family-friendly without limiting expression of strong opinions. They are also applicable regardless of the sentiment of the comment.
Contributions should be travel related. The most helpful contributions are detailed and help others make better decisions. Please don’t include personal, political, ethical, or religious commentary. Promotional content will be removed and issues concerning Booking.com’s services should be routed to our Customer Service or Accommodation Service teams.
Contributions should be appropriate for a global audience. Please avoid using profanity or attempts to approximate profanity with creative spelling, in any language. Comments and media that include 'hate speech', discriminatory remarks, threats, sexually explicit remarks, violence, and the promotion of illegal activity are not permitted.
All content should be genuine and unique to the guest. Reviews are most valuable when they are original and unbiased. Your contribution should be yours. Booking.com property partners should not post on behalf of guests or offer incentives in exchange for reviews. Attempts to bring down the rating of a competitor by submitting a negative review will not be tolerated.
Respect the privacy of others. Booking.com will make an effort to obscure email addresses, telephone numbers, website addresses, social media accounts, and similar details.
The opinions expressed in contributions are those of Booking.com customers and properties and not of Booking.com. Booking.com does not accept responsibility or liability for any reviews or responses. Booking.com is a distributor (without any obligation to verify) and not a publisher of these comments and responses.
By default, reviews are sorted based on the date of the review and on additional criteria to display the most relevant reviews, including but not limited to: your language, reviews with text, and non-anonymous reviews. Additional sorting options may be available (by type of traveller, by score, etc.).

United KingdomThe free parking was way to far away to be convenient so we parked next door £38 a night so pricey parking
Great location quite noisy at night but that’s the price you pay for centre location

United KingdomAs both the buildings front door and the lift are key operated a second key/fob would have been useful to allow people to leave and return separately.
Lovely apartment, well located close to the beach, lanes, shops bars, and pier.

United KingdomMake sure that if you park before collecting the key and free parking card that you go straight out and pay for the parking and redo with the parking card. Two hours cost me around £24.The windows look out on a passageway and would benefit from better double glazing. The blinds mostly cannot be opened as uncomfortable eye contact can be made with passers-by! There are some areas that look tired or where money needs to be spent. The flooring in the bathroom needs re grouting and walls need repainting. The dishwasher door does not open properly due to competing with the plinth, though still able to be partially used. All the beds are very narrow, but the sofabed is comfortable. You are given one key which can cause difficulties if people want to go out separately as the door has to be locked when going out. You also need the key to get in the main building.
The ground floor apartment feels spacious and seemed clean. The kitchen has a dishwasher and washing machine in, along with most kitchen equipment that you would need. The living room / kitchen / dining area is a good size for 3 people. The position is very good as it's close to shops and lots of restaurants, the free parking is next door. The getaway team are very responsive and helpful at all times day and night. I couldn't see where it mentioned what to do with waste, but when I asked they told me to use the large black communal bins on Little East Street to dispose of the recycling and rubbish.

United KingdomHowever, the property is in a semi-basement with views of a brick wall and very little natural daylight. It is also by the footpath to the car-park with lots of chatter outside at all hours of the day & night. The management company were over attentive with WAY to many emails & messages - mind you probably better than not getting enough information I suppose.
The property was comfortable, clean and well located for tourist attractions etc.

NetherlandsApartment was very hard to find, even with the video. We couldn't turn the heating down. It was at 23c, too hot. It would have been useful if there had been a manual explaining how everything works in the apartment on old fashioned paper. After a lot of calling the caretaker, we ended up just switching the heater off all together (after finding out where the box was).
Apartment was extremely central, modern, nicely decorated, clean. Secure parking was next to the main front entrance of the building. Huge TV. Windows that open. One of the bedrooms (twin) was extra roomy. Our stay was very nice, because Brighton is just a brilliant place to be.

United KingdomHow hot the apartment was. The windows can't open fully and the controls didn't change the temperature so very warm rooms. The noise level of guest returning home was loud with window open, which you didn't want to close due to how warm it was. This was also in a raining may, so I would imagine it would be worse in the summer. This is a shame as location lovely and appt clean and good size for what you need.
location right next to the shops and 2 mins from the beach.

United KingdomTiles are cracked in the bathroom on the floor and cut my foot. Place was covered in damp & mould. Floors hadn't looked like they'd been hoovered. Beds were uncomfortable. The parking permit was not in the building, so had to pay £38.40 additionally for parking, along with the additional £30.00 non refundable damage waiver. If it wasn't for the fact it was a non refundable booking I would have left and found somewhere else for the night. The pictures do not look anywhere near what the property looks like in person - I have plenty of pictures and videos to compare.
Literally nothing.

United KingdomWe arrived at the accommodation at 10pm. Eventually found the key safe, in a dark corner, close to a pile of human excrement, less than 3 feet away. The instructions were incomplete. We did not get any explaining how to access the car park. We presumed we had to take a ticket then swipe the key fob on the way out. This wasn't the case, and subsequently we had to pay £38 to park for 1 night. The accommodation was too hot and stuffy, heating controls didn’t seem to work. With windows fully opened (about 150mm max for security reasons) the noise from the loud pub next door was ridiculous. The widows open directly onto a public walkway to the car park which was also very noisy persistently throughout the night. The beds are unbelievably narrow and not fit for purpose for anyone larger than a child. These cannot be full size adult single beds and it is hard to believe they are up to spec. The place felt dirty. Various parts of the upholstery were stained, making everything feel unclean. The bathroom floor tiles were coming up from confirmed water damage. This not hygienic due to the gaps in between them. In summary, the place was not conducive to a relaxing, clean, comfortable stay. We found alternative accommodation ASAP on the Tuesday morning and moved out. We contacted My Getaways to advise of our dissatisfaction. Their delayed respond was a text on Wednesday morning. Finally spoke with My Getaways (Mark), on Thursday am and he advised we should have contacted Booking.com not themselves. He did not accept any of our concerns and has refused to issue any kind of refund for car parking or 2 nights' accommodation. With hindsight I should have done more research and found the already numerous negative reviews on Trip Adviser before booking. Since I booked with Booking.com this also reflects badly on your standards. I will be adding my review to the list on TripAdvisor and elsewhere to help prevent anyone else from being similarly disappointed by My Getaways.
Geographical location could have been good, but proved to be really bad. Very misleading on the internet marketing materials and photographs.

United KingdomThe instructions for check in were a bit confusing, perhaps more clarity with that. Also, we didn’t know how to check out. We did figure it out by calling but maybe knowing before hand would’ve been easier.
The location was amazing, very close to the coast and easy to get to places. The actual faculties were very, the pictures were very accurate.

United KingdomIf I had to nit pick…the view wasn’t great and we kept the blinds drawn but no big bother, still a great apartment!
Excellent facilities, sparkling clean and toddler friendly. Free car parking and easy access to car park was a great help. Watching the ‘how to’ videos beforehand was super useful in coordinating drop off etc. We would definitely stay again!
