We have people and automated systems that specialize in detecting fake reviews submitted to our platform. If we find any, we delete them and, if necessary, take action against whoever is responsible.
Anyone who spots something suspicious can always report it to our Customer Service team so that our fraud team can investigate.

The hostel is located in the centre of Oban and the harbour with its restaurants and the ferry terminal is only a two minute walk. The kitchen is very well equipped and easy to cook in.

Great staff! Very welcoming and efficient, also relaxed. Fabulous vibe of the building as a place for travellers to spend time together, with bright decor and open spaces. Enough space for everyone to eat breakfast at tables & relax in the lounge areas. Great breakfast for only £3.50! Loved the bookshelf, & spaces to read. Shower cubicles designed to not get your things wet while showering & dressing. Short walk to main attractions, transport & shops. (Eg. Tesco supermarket, souvenirs, second hand clothes etc)

Great atmosphere and kitchen facilities. We got to meet lovely people as we cooked and shared meals with fellow travellers.

Handy for Oban Town Centre. Convenient on-street parking. Nice lounge area downstairs where you could charge your phone etc and use the free wi-fi.

PortugalThe only thing I didn't like was the check in which is super late at 5 pm. Most hostels let guests in around 2/3pm. You can still use the couch and facilities before checking in, but in my case I arrived around noon and it was a miserable rainy day, so I basically had to be stuck indoors for 5 hours just waiting to go in the room and rest.
Location was good not too far from the bus station and the city centre. Close to a few grocery stores and supermarkets. Staff was friendly. Wifi was decent for the most part. Bathroom and dorms were cleaned daily.

Oban is the perfect spot for day trips to the island and this hostel is right in the towncenter. Obviously hostels in the highlands cannot be compared with big city hostels (they have a certain retro feeling as if you’re in the eighties), but Oban Backpackers has a certain charm and great facilities. And the hostel staff is super nice and helpful.

United KingdomThe room I was in had a bit of a funny smell when you go in, which I suspect is from the carpet that gets damp. I sprayed some body mist on my sheets which took care of it. Best to always be in slippers and socks.
Really great hostel for anyone planning to travel in and around Oban! The staff were friendly and helpful and the facilities were clean and comfortable. Met some lovely people in the large common area, which is open 24/7 and offers free drinks. In the common area, they have wonderful maps of all the landmarks, tours, and things to do in and around Oban. Its walking distance to great restaurants, pubs, and local shops.

BelgiumThe beds are really uncomfortable. It's a small mattress on a wooden plaque, and you can feel the shape of the people on the mattress (it's more flat where you put your shoulders). Also no plugs next to the beds. Yes there is a big multi plug in the room but when it's not next to your bed I'm not comfortable leaving my things there to charge.
It's cheap and convenient to stay one night. The common room is nice and you have a cheap breakfast available if needed so that's always a plus. People were quiet and respectful. It was as you can expect in a hostel.

Location in town was easy walking distance. Big comfortable lounge for reading was good. Kitchen was well equipped. All hours free tea, coffee and hot chocolate was appreciated.
