Each review score is between 1-10. To get the overall score that you see, we add up all the review scores we’ve received and divide that total by the number of review scores we’ve received. We are currently testing a weighted review system in Malta, Iceland, Australia, Greece, Brazil and North Carolina. For properties in these regions, the more recent the review, the bigger the impact on the total review score calculation. In addition, guests can give separate ‘subscores’ in crucial areas, such as location, cleanliness, staff, comfort, facilities, value for money and free Wi-Fi. Note that guests submit their subscores and their overall scores independently, so there’s no direct link between them.
You can review an Accommodation that you booked through our Platform if you stayed there or if you arrived at the property but didn’t actually stay there. To edit a review you’ve already submitted, please contact our Customer Service team.
We have people and automated systems that specialise in detecting fake reviews submitted to our Platform. If we find any, we delete them and, if necessary, take action against whoever is responsible.
Anyone else who spots something suspicious can always report it to our Customer Service team, so our Fraud team can investigate.
Ideally, we would publish every review we receive, whether positive or negative. However, we won’t display any review that includes or refers to (among other things):
To make sure reviews are relevant, we may only accept reviews that are submitted within 3 months of checking out, and we may stop showing reviews once they’re 36 months old – or if the Accommodation has a change of ownership.
An Accommodation may choose to reply to a review.
When you see multiple reviews, the most recent ones will be at the top, subject to a few other factors (what language a review is in, whether it’s just a rating or contains comments as well, etc.). If you like, you can sort and/or filter them (by time of year, review score, etc.).
We sometimes show external review scores from other well-known travel websites. We make it clear when we’ve done this.
These guidelines and standards aim to keep the content on Booking.com relevant and family-friendly without limiting expression of strong opinions. They are also applicable regardless of the sentiment of the comment.
Contributions should be travel related. The most helpful contributions are detailed and help others make better decisions. Please don’t include personal, political, ethical, or religious commentary. Promotional content will be removed and issues concerning Booking.com’s services should be routed to our Customer Service or Accommodation Service teams.
Contributions should be appropriate for a global audience. Please avoid using profanity or attempts to approximate profanity with creative spelling, in any language. Comments and media that include 'hate speech', discriminatory remarks, threats, sexually explicit remarks, violence, and the promotion of illegal activity are not permitted.
All content should be genuine and unique to the guest. Reviews are most valuable when they are original and unbiased. Your contribution should be yours. Booking.com property partners should not post on behalf of guests or offer incentives in exchange for reviews. Attempts to bring down the rating of a competitor by submitting a negative review will not be tolerated.
Respect the privacy of others. Booking.com will make an effort to obscure email addresses, telephone numbers, website addresses, social media accounts, and similar details.
The opinions expressed in contributions are those of Booking.com customers and properties and not of Booking.com. Booking.com does not accept responsibility or liability for any reviews or responses. Booking.com is a distributor (without any obligation to verify) and not a publisher of these comments and responses.
By default, reviews are sorted based on the date of the review and on additional criteria to display the most relevant reviews, including but not limited to: your language, reviews with text, and non-anonymous reviews. Additional sorting options may be available (by type of traveller, by score, etc.).

United KingdomThe TV was too small for the room. Paint was flaking off the ceiling and moldy around the windows. And wall paper was coming off in the bathroom. The shower cubical was also too small.
The location was ideal for visiting Bingley and the hotel itself was lovely. The continental breakfast was lovely too.

United KingdomWe have been before and previously enjoyed a drink in the evening in the very nice hotel bar. We were a bit sad this time to find that the bar had closed. I suppose they are economising. Same with breakfast - cooked option no longer available.
We love this hotel, it's got great rooms and history, comfortable beds and really lovely staff and service. Look out for the famous William Morris stained glass windows.

United KingdomA lot of stairs if you’re staying in a room at the top but a good workout!
I slept so well in my bed! The location was excellent and the building looks so beautiful. The staff were super helpful with some dietary requirements and worked hard to make something I could eat!

United KingdomNot much. If anything I couldn’t take a shower as the shower door in the bathroom was a bit loose, so I didn’t want to risk flooding the room.
It was a beautiful building, very characterful and, it turns out, quite historic as well

United KingdomA fee of £10 for one night only for our dog to stay seemed a bit steep in my opinion 🤔
Nice large room! The fact they accepted dogs! Had both a bath and shower cubicle which was good and water hot at all times. Breakfast although continental was actually quite nice for a change. It was nice to stay in a hotel with a bit of character! Good location with adequate free car parking 👍

United KingdomThe decor needs some new wall paper & carpets . The breakfast needs looking at, as they ran out of pastries on one of the mornings. But to be fair you couldn’t fault the new lad he got us everything we all needed , but needs more than one person trying to serve & clear away.
The property was amazing, the garden was beautiful kept with some lovely trees.

United KingdomI guess mainly some of the dining could be improved a little… It would’ve been nice to have a cooked breakfast on offer. I can’t recall Booking.com saying it was only a continental breakfast, however it was satisfactory. We would also have liked to be able to get a bite to eat or lunch when we arrived after a long journey. But food only seemed available on a Saturday evening and I understand it’s not worth having a chef there if only a few people want to eat during the day. I was surprised that alcohol wasn’t served but it was great that we could bring our own. Soft drinks weren’t available at the bar on Friday evening either as it seemed to be shut, which was a shame, or even a coffee/tea/afternoon tea would have been nice. Booking.com and the leaflet we picked up there don’t mention the above, so it may be worth updating literature so guests’ expectations can be met.
The hotel itself was full of charm and character. The location was great and it was steeped with history which we loved hearing about. All the staff were very friendly and helpful. Nothing was too much trouble and they made our stay most enjoyable. We had the evening meal there on Saturday which was absolutely delicious - all four meals were lovely and credit to the Chef Malcolm who did us proud. The setting was really peaceful and we made use of the garden at the back, particularly with our dogs who enjoyed a little run round there. Maurice made sure that everything ran like clockwork and the night porters looked after us with extra teabags in the evening! We all enjoyed it very much: my mum, dad and daughter. We loved hearing about the history of the place the detailed architecture and olde world charm is still there. The rooms were very spacious. Ours was particularly light and airy. The bathrooms were fine too, basically having everything we needed.

United KingdomLack of staff. Whilst it was a splendid building, it did feel rather tired and in need of some TLC.
Lovely period property. Large room with 4 poster bed a bonus. As expected, only a continental breakfast. It was fine, but nothing special. The staff were very friendly, but the front desk was often left unattended.

United KingdomThe building was beautiful. It had a lot of history to it. Not enough made of that by the present owners. I had read some information on line, and thought there might be a leaflet in the hotel itself. Restaurant not open. Lots of beautiful Reception rooms not used as no cooking taking place at present. For the future.
The beautiful house. A continental breakfast was included in the price. It was adequate but full size croissants/ pain au chocolat might have been better than the mini ones provided. People would probably be prepared for a better breakfast and the option of a cooked one also. The lady staffing the Reception and breakfast on our first day was very helpful, and she gave us a brief history of the house.

United KingdomThe only thing that made it 9/10 was we prefer a cooked breakfast and did not realise at the time of booking it was continental breakfast only. If we had we'd have chosen the reduce price room as ours included breakfast which we didn't eat. The room was beautiful but can see where it needs some tlc but that is something that can be done over time. Small things could bump up the star rating very easily, also it was a very hot room which will be fabulous in winter. We could only find one window that could open.
Our room which was room 1 was spacious clean and felt very homely. The mattress and pillows was comfortable. The whole hotel is absolutely beautiful. Also we didn't realise they had a carpark to the side of the hotel until the taxi turned around up there! Plenty of space for bigger vehicles in this carpark , just follow the drive past the hotel on the left.

United KingdomThe interior is quite dated, the rooms need updating, but I feel that is reflected in the price and is therefore fair. Breakfast was a bit uninspiring and could definitely be improved.
The building is absolutely stunning, the beds were comfortable and whilst the shower was quite old the water pressure was good and there was plenty of hot water. The staff are very helpful. We had dinner there and it was lovely.

United KingdomBreakfast was okay - but not great. No hanging space in the bedroom, but only there for 2 nights, so it didn't matter. My room was a bit on the small side - but I was travelling alone, so it was fine. I had some work to do and the desk was a bit small too. However, everything else was so lovely, I didn't care.
Staff were incredibly friendly, helpful and cheerful. It is a beautiful building. Don't stay here expecting chain hotel uniformity. This is a gorgeous. old building and the rooms are beautiful and unique. I enjoyed a peaceful couple of nights here and would love to return - without having to bring work with me.
