Each review score is between 1-10. To get the overall score that you see, we add up all the review scores we’ve received and divide that total by the number of review scores we’ve received. We are currently testing a weighted review system in Malta, Iceland, Australia, Greece, Brazil and North Carolina. For properties in these regions, the more recent the review, the bigger the impact on the total review score calculation. In addition, guests can give separate ‘subscores’ in crucial areas, such as location, cleanliness, staff, comfort, facilities, value for money and free Wi-Fi. Note that guests submit their subscores and their overall scores independently, so there’s no direct link between them.
You can review an Accommodation that you booked through our Platform if you stayed there or if you arrived at the property but didn’t actually stay there. To edit a review you’ve already submitted, please contact our Customer Service team.
We have people and automated systems that specialise in detecting fake reviews submitted to our Platform. If we find any, we delete them and, if necessary, take action against whoever is responsible.
Anyone else who spots something suspicious can always report it to our Customer Service team, so our Fraud team can investigate.
Ideally, we would publish every review we receive, whether positive or negative. However, we won’t display any review that includes or refers to (among other things):
To make sure reviews are relevant, we may only accept reviews that are submitted within 3 months of checking out, and we may stop showing reviews once they’re 36 months old – or if the Accommodation has a change of ownership.
An Accommodation may choose to reply to a review.
When you see multiple reviews, the most recent ones will be at the top, subject to a few other factors (what language a review is in, whether it’s just a rating or contains comments as well, etc.). If you like, you can sort and/or filter them (by time of year, review score, etc.).
We sometimes show external review scores from other well-known travel websites. We make it clear when we’ve done this.
These guidelines and standards aim to keep the content on Booking.com relevant and family-friendly without limiting expression of strong opinions. They are also applicable regardless of the sentiment of the comment.
Contributions should be travel related. The most helpful contributions are detailed and help others make better decisions. Please don’t include personal, political, ethical, or religious commentary. Promotional content will be removed and issues concerning Booking.com’s services should be routed to our Customer Service or Accommodation Service teams.
Contributions should be appropriate for a global audience. Please avoid using profanity or attempts to approximate profanity with creative spelling, in any language. Comments and media that include 'hate speech', discriminatory remarks, threats, sexually explicit remarks, violence, and the promotion of illegal activity are not permitted.
All content should be genuine and unique to the guest. Reviews are most valuable when they are original and unbiased. Your contribution should be yours. Booking.com property partners should not post on behalf of guests or offer incentives in exchange for reviews. Attempts to bring down the rating of a competitor by submitting a negative review will not be tolerated.
Respect the privacy of others. Booking.com will make an effort to obscure email addresses, telephone numbers, website addresses, social media accounts, and similar details.
The opinions expressed in contributions are those of Booking.com customers and properties and not of Booking.com. Booking.com does not accept responsibility or liability for any reviews or responses. Booking.com is a distributor (without any obligation to verify) and not a publisher of these comments and responses.
By default, reviews are sorted based on the date of the review and on additional criteria to display the most relevant reviews, including but not limited to: your language, reviews with text, and non-anonymous reviews. Additional sorting options may be available (by type of traveller, by score, etc.).

United KingdomMotion operated light n the bathroom was a little annoying - came on in the middle of the night when I would have been happy in the dark; switched off after a few minutes whilst using the bathroom. There appears to be some renovation work ongoing at the hotel (August 2024) - not an issue for me, but some guests may not like this. It was not noisy, just some work going on to improve the hotel facilities. No lift up to the first floor, and I had to navigate 3 fire doors to get to my room.
Budget hotel that openly states it typically caters for workers. Good accommodation with parking. Hotel is near to city centre.. Some rooms are en-suite, others have shared showers and bathrooms - be careful what you book! Room was warm and sheets were clean. Hotel was quiet. Hotel has a small self-service kitchn and a washing machine, which was a nice surprise and enabled me to do some washing.

United KingdomThe hotel was just a little 'out of town' and could do with modernising. The window could only be opened a small amount. (Not good after the recent 'heatwave').
The lady who rang me (as I had been delayed) was friendly and sympathetic and, on my arrival, offered me a free upgrade. The room had both a bath and shower and tea and coffee facilities were provided.

GermanyWhen I arrived, the hotel was still a building site as they were refurbishing the rooms. I would have liked to know that in advance, but it was only a small problem on the first day (as I was absent all day long during my remaining stay). Room service was a bit "spotty" (sometimes yes, sometimes no). There was no lock (or even a cylinder) on the bathroom door. No place to put towels to dry in the bathroom. The reception area felt a bit "gloomy". No opportunity to buy alcohol later in the evenings (no staff present). The hotel is located in a "residential area" of town that is pretty much "dead". No pubs or restaurants for a mile!
The direct email contact with the hotel was excellent (not via booking.com). They agreed to an early check-in and gave me detailed instructions. The room (en-suite double, Room 104) had apparently been recently refurbished, everything was clean, nothing was worn. There was enough storage for my clothes and stuff (a wardrobe, a desk with several drawers, two small bedside tables with drawers). Add: The shared bathrooms on the floors were spacious and modern, too. The bathroom was evidently new and clean: big shower (no curtain or door alas, so it was difficult not to flood the room while showering), adequate water pressure, enough TP, good smaller and bigger towels were provided. Check-in and Check-out went smoothly. After the check-in I never saw any staff for the rest of my stay. There's a very basically furnished back garden for people to relax in, which I did a couple of times. The hotel is a mile outside of the city centre, but there's a bus stop (lines 5, 5a from the city) just 200 metres from the Newark. Because of a knee injury I took a bus back to the hotel on most nights). It was relatively quiet during the night (I could sleep with an open window). Free WLAN was available.

United KingdomThe hotel is mostly used by people who start working very early making noise leaving and you cannot sleep too long in the morning. There's no lounge to sit and watch TV or listen to music. You need to stay in your room to do so. The TV was very small mounted very high and there wasn't a comfy arm chair to sit in and relax. All in all it is a good and cheap place for people who come to work but not good for some who want to rest and relax.
The room was very small but clean and had everything for a short stay. The staff are lovely. I could check in 2 hours earlier and were very nice when checked out a half an hour. There's a kitchen you can use to warm your food and keep food in the fridge. The hotel looks a very safe place. The door is always locked and there are cameras. The shared bathrooms are clean and supplied with paper and soap. The water is always hot.
