Each review score is between 1-10. To get the overall score that you see, we add up all the review scores we’ve received and divide that total by the number of review scores we’ve received. We are currently testing a weighted review system in Malta and Iceland (excluding hotel and vacation rental chains). For properties in these countries, the more recent the review, the bigger the impact on the total review score calculation. In addition, guests can give separate ‘subscores’ in crucial areas, such as location, cleanliness, staff, comfort, facilities, value for money and free Wi-Fi. Note that guests submit their subscores and their overall scores independently, so there’s no direct link between them.
You can review an Accommodation that you booked through our Platform if you stayed there or if you arrived at the property but didn’t actually stay there. To edit a review you’ve already submitted, please contact our Customer Service team.
We have people and automated systems that specialise in detecting fake reviews submitted to our Platform. If we find any, we delete them and, if necessary, take action against whoever is responsible.
Anyone else who spots something suspicious can always report it to our Customer Service team, so our Fraud team can investigate.
Ideally, we would publish every review we receive, whether positive or negative. However, we won’t display any review that includes or refers to (among other things):
To make sure reviews are relevant, we may only accept reviews that are submitted within 3 months of checking out, and we may stop showing reviews once they’re 36 months old – or if the Accommodation has a change of ownership.
An Accommodation may choose to reply to a review.
When you see multiple reviews, the most recent ones will be at the top, subject to a few other factors (what language a review is in, whether it’s just a rating or contains comments as well, etc.). If you like, you can sort and/or filter them (by time of year, review score, etc.).
We sometimes show external review scores from other well-known travel websites. We make it clear when we’ve done this.
These guidelines and standards aim to keep the content on Booking.com relevant and family-friendly without limiting expression of strong opinions. They are also applicable regardless of the sentiment of the comment.
Contributions should be travel related. The most helpful contributions are detailed and help others make better decisions. Please don’t include personal, political, ethical, or religious commentary. Promotional content will be removed and issues concerning Booking.com’s services should be routed to our Customer Service or Accommodation Service teams.
Contributions should be appropriate for a global audience. Please avoid using profanity or attempts to approximate profanity with creative spelling, in any language. Comments and media that include 'hate speech', discriminatory remarks, threats, sexually explicit remarks, violence, and the promotion of illegal activity are not permitted.
All content should be genuine and unique to the guest. Reviews are most valuable when they are original and unbiased. Your contribution should be yours. Booking.com property partners should not post on behalf of guests or offer incentives in exchange for reviews. Attempts to bring down the rating of a competitor by submitting a negative review will not be tolerated.
Respect the privacy of others. Booking.com will make an effort to obscure email addresses, telephone numbers, website addresses, social media accounts, and similar details.
The opinions expressed in contributions are those of Booking.com customers and properties and not of Booking.com. Booking.com does not accept responsibility or liability for any reviews or responses. Booking.com is a distributor (without any obligation to verify) and not a publisher of these comments and responses.
By default, reviews are sorted based on the date of the review and on additional criteria to display the most relevant reviews, including but not limited to: your language, reviews with text, and non-anonymous reviews. Additional sorting options may be available (by type of traveller, by score, etc.).

United KingdomThere are some good points though. The building and the particular the rooms have been modernised . The location is exceptionally good and one can walk to all the main sites in Oxford easily which is unusual for hotel. The bed was comfortable with quality bedding. Shower was fine with good size towels. It was also quite quiet which was unexpected and welcomed. UOn balance a number of the Oxford colleges now have very good and comfortable guest accommodation, off with an excellent breakfast, which you would have to pay a reasonable amount for but less than the Museum Hotel and would be a more enjoyable experience for tourists new to this city
Sorry this is for box below!!I think it’s more fair to describe this place as an Airbnb rather the hotel: there isn’t any reception area nor do you meet any staff? The venue is approached down an alleyway. Judging by the people we asked, we weren’t the only people who struggled to find how to get in, Also the steps up to the room with also be challenging for somebody who is not sure footed. The room is also the smallest bedroom ever stayed in, With a roof sloping window, so a bit claustrophobic. The price was also very steep although city centre hotels in Oxford hard to find. £200 without breakfast, even for Oxford, and I know the city well, is really poor value.

PakistanInitially we got a tiny room, barely big enough for two people, but we were upgraded to a larger room.
The staff was really helpful and went the extra mile. The location is very central.

United StatesWe are seniors with arthritis and joint problems visiting from the USA. Due to my inexperience, I booked into this charming hotel without inquiring about an elevator. There isn’t one! We struggled getting up and down the many uneven steps. However, the staff was helpful and assisted us with out luggage when we checked out and get a cab. FYI this hotel is not staffed around the clock, but are available by telephone.
Lovely rooms, but small. No dressers to unpack. But newly renovated and nice bathrooms in a centuries old building in Oxford. Good walking options to colleges, restaurants, and shopping.

IrelandThere was trouble with the toilets in both the bathrooms of room 9 and 10. I was in room 9 and it was slow to fill but otherwise ok. Room 10 had issues where the toilet was leaking, she emailed the property but hadn’t heard anything back from them via email and the second night it leaked again all over the bathroom floor - hopefully this will be sorted by time next person using the room
Location was excellent for the work conference we were attending and the rooms were spacious and well presented. The WiFi worked well and the shower was a rainfall shower which are always lovely. Tea kettle in the room with nice cups and secure locks with codes on the door

Breakfast was a self service buffet in a separate room. Adequate but all long life products so not great quality. No staff interaction at all.

PortugalOnly a ceiling window, which made the room dark without artifical lighting. Couldn't get the heating to work, and there was no staff on location. Expensive for value. Hard to find the location of the entrance as well.
Even though there was no staff, there was a nice common area with complementary biscuits and coffee machine to enjoy. Bed was comfortable, room clean and the shower was nice.

United KingdomThe only negative that I could say would be probably the heating. There was an A/C in our room, but it was quite hard to warm up the room.
First I was afraid because of the location close to a pub, but I had on of the best sleep while I was there. On the week of our stay, I had my half marathon; that was the main reason I chose the Museum Hotel as it was just a few minutes walk from the start line. The room contained everything that I needed, there were some big curtains that helped me to sleep well before race day. There was a communal area with a seat, which was the perfect way to eat your breakfast. Clean, quite, nice staff.

United KingdomIt was quite noisy but high street location. There was a very bright green light in the bedroom that made it difficult to sleep. Room was very hot and air con too loud to have on whilst sleeping
We had a room upgrade. Very quirky bedroom with lovely bathroom and a kitchen attached. I loved the high ceilings and natural features of the old property

I could not find the left luggage room nor any staff to speak to onsite. TV did not work for UK terrestrial channels also Rituals complimentary shower gel, soaps etc non-existent, replaced with a much cheaper brand.
Location is perfect so access to the Town Hall. Staff over telephone very helpful. Room was made available early.

United KingdomVery small room - just about space to get around the bed. Expensive for the amount of space, but in line with other hotels in Oxford.
Great location - ideal for the town centre and perfect for my function at Christ Church, just over the road. It was convenient to get in and out with the door code, and the staff member who was there in the morning was absolutely charming. Pleasant decor, very clean, and a comfortable bed.
