Long time since i have stayed in a hostel but it was fabulous. Clean, warm, pretty room, Binoculars provided which my daughter loved. We only styed one night but i wish it was longer and would love to come back.

The cosiness and informality of an old fashioned yet well refurbished historical bulding (The Murrey Lybeary) , fantastically located at the sea front at the core of the charming Anstruther fishing port. Around, if you decide to relinquish the hostel common kitchen facilities, there are enough shops, restaurants and bars of good quality. Darius, the hostel manager, is a gentle host that make us feel "at home". Very quiet and well fitted private room and bathroom facilities (it was my choice), pristinely clean.

Location is on the harbour front with parking opposite, £1.20 an hour is incredible, so perfect. Private bathroom is on a corridor, but don’t let that put you off. Exceptionally clean with hand soap, towels and Reed diffuser! Room clean and tidy with beautiful sea /harbour view. Even a fresh rose in a vase. Would have loved a kettle in room, but knew this so took my own. It is a hostel not a boutique hotel, but an exceptional one and would definitely stay again!! Great find. Darius was very helpful and welcoming. All details sent through email.

I wished there was body wash in the shower, but I’ve never stayed in hostel before so maybe that’s normal!

The hostel is in a perfect location, beautiful old library, and Darius is so kind and accommodating. Everything you need is there!

private double room is great with a fab view of the harbour A warm room with a very comfy bed Our en suite was a shower and a toilet room shared with the room next door its outside the room. A large clean space 2 toilet cubicles and 2 shower cubicles with your room no. on the door. Its a spacious loo cubicle and shower cubicle next cubicle with a power hot shower ,a stool and clothes hanger. Very clean hostel every room is looked after to a high standard especially the kitchen. Darius is a great host. A fab stay our 2nd time here. Confidently recommended if you like a hostel stay with a great view & location.

The lounge at the back was a bit cluttered. The windows to the front should be left clear so remove curtains and bunting and replace with frosted stick ons at lower part if privacy required. Of half shutters

Be good if a bit more storage. Only a coat stand for your clothes. Be aware that the private loo and shower is outside the room (just a few steps away) but there is a sink in the room too.

Great location! We had a top floor room with very comfortable bed. Great to hear the water as you drift off to sleep. It’s right across from the harbour. Bus stops right outside to take you to St Andrews or Edinburgh. Super kitchen well stocked with cooking gear and spices, teas etc. Fresh flowers in the kitchen and bedroom were lovely.

Sharing a room with people! But I didn’t have a choice :) Access to sockets in the bedroom is too few. Only 2 double sockets which are tricky to access, and 8 beds. Always take eye mask and ear plugs and you’ll be fine.

Would prefer single sex dorm. A couple of chairs in the dorm would be a welcome addition.

Location, fabulous spotless kitchen with basic condiments free to use, plus tea, coffee, chocolate etc. Darius very helpful.
