Each review score is between 1-10. To get the overall score that you see, we add up all the review scores we’ve received and divide that total by the number of review scores we’ve received. We are currently testing a weighted review system in Malta and Iceland (excluding hotel and vacation rental chains). For properties in these countries, the more recent the review, the bigger the impact on the total review score calculation. In addition, guests can give separate ‘subscores’ in crucial areas, such as location, cleanliness, staff, comfort, facilities, value for money and free Wi-Fi. Note that guests submit their subscores and their overall scores independently, so there’s no direct link between them.
You can review an Accommodation that you booked through our Platform if you stayed there or if you arrived at the property but didn’t actually stay there. To edit a review you’ve already submitted, please contact our Customer Service team.
We have people and automated systems that specialise in detecting fake reviews submitted to our Platform. If we find any, we delete them and, if necessary, take action against whoever is responsible.
Anyone else who spots something suspicious can always report it to our Customer Service team, so our Fraud team can investigate.
Ideally, we would publish every review we receive, whether positive or negative. However, we won’t display any review that includes or refers to (among other things):
To make sure reviews are relevant, we may only accept reviews that are submitted within 3 months of checking out, and we may stop showing reviews once they’re 36 months old – or if the Accommodation has a change of ownership.
An Accommodation may choose to reply to a review.
When you see multiple reviews, the most recent ones will be at the top, subject to a few other factors (what language a review is in, whether it’s just a rating or contains comments as well, etc.). If you like, you can sort and/or filter them (by time of year, review score, etc.).
We sometimes show external review scores from other well-known travel websites. We make it clear when we’ve done this.
These guidelines and standards aim to keep the content on Booking.com relevant and family-friendly without limiting expression of strong opinions. They are also applicable regardless of the sentiment of the comment.
Contributions should be travel related. The most helpful contributions are detailed and help others make better decisions. Please don’t include personal, political, ethical, or religious commentary. Promotional content will be removed and issues concerning Booking.com’s services should be routed to our Customer Service or Accommodation Service teams.
Contributions should be appropriate for a global audience. Please avoid using profanity or attempts to approximate profanity with creative spelling, in any language. Comments and media that include 'hate speech', discriminatory remarks, threats, sexually explicit remarks, violence, and the promotion of illegal activity are not permitted.
All content should be genuine and unique to the guest. Reviews are most valuable when they are original and unbiased. Your contribution should be yours. Booking.com property partners should not post on behalf of guests or offer incentives in exchange for reviews. Attempts to bring down the rating of a competitor by submitting a negative review will not be tolerated.
Respect the privacy of others. Booking.com will make an effort to obscure email addresses, telephone numbers, website addresses, social media accounts, and similar details.
The opinions expressed in contributions are those of Booking.com customers and properties and not of Booking.com. Booking.com does not accept responsibility or liability for any reviews or responses. Booking.com is a distributor (without any obligation to verify) and not a publisher of these comments and responses.
By default, reviews are sorted based on the date of the review and on additional criteria to display the most relevant reviews, including but not limited to: your language, reviews with text, and non-anonymous reviews. Additional sorting options may be available (by type of traveller, by score, etc.).

United KingdomWe found one bath towel only. There is no bedside table on one side because the be was huge. The decor is a bit tired . The corridor to the breakfast room has alcoves with no art work to add interest. The breakfast room was uninviting.
Spacious quiet room, with bath.

United KingdomThe bedrooms are all in a dreary block away from the main building. There was a giant bogie on the bedroom wall.
Loved the pool and the spa pool. Main building is lovely and we enjoyed drinks from the bar outside in the sunshine. We liked that there's a library!

United KingdomThere were a few areas of the hotel that looked like they needed some TLC. Cobwebs above the bar area. Big patches hole in the ceiling also there. The outside of the 70’s style building, could do with painting to smarten it up. Breakfast, though nice choice of dishes, would have liked individual yogurts, rather than a bowl of. The scrambled eggs were a very dark yellow, which looked odd but maybe there local eggs? Dinner was great but the focaccia was extremely salty and over baked.
Liked the location, as very close for the event we were going to Steventon Hall. The look of the hotel both exterior and interior is very impressive with lots of green space outside. Lovely amount of rooms available downstairs to meet fellow guests. The decor and the comfort of the furniture was great and liked the many outside areas we could use with tables and seating. The bedrooms themselves were a good size with comfortable bed, and nice that you can open the windows.

United KingdomThe outside of the main room blocks is grey concrete, and looks like an ex east german prison block. Breakfast was disappointing: no black pudding, stewed tomatoes, and on our visit no coffee machine working at all.
The main hotel is impressive and decorated with taste. There are many areas in which you can relax, read or have a drink. The pool and fitness room are lovely, as are the grounds and gardens. Best of all are the staff; helpful, friendly and professional.

United KingdomWe were in the rear block, I think it was called the garden wing. From the outside it looks a bit tatty, considering the rest of the hotel was a attractive country house, it looked abit out of place. However it was better once inside and it is clean and tidy and was like most decent hotels. The only real let down for us was the restaurant. We were a party of 10 and we asked about booking a table for us which we did and it was suggested that we pre ordered just to help the kitchen out as it was ment to be a busy night. Our table was booked for 8pm, we pre ordered at 7:40-7:45. We sat down to our table at 8 but we didn't get out food until 8:45. The restaurant was not really very busy either! The food was very nice but I'd say abit more on the plate or a side could be included to make the value for money worth it. This wouldn't put us off staying here again as it was what we wanted for the occasion and the hotel rooms are excellent value for money.
The staff were very friendly and welcoming. Rooms are very clean and well presented. Beds are very comfortable. We used the pool and again, very clean and well presented. A shame the hot tub was out of order but steam room and sauna made up for it.

United KingdomThe room was a little noisy as we were right by the main entrance to the block which made our dog bark with the door banging shut with people coming and going all hours of the night.
We took our dog, plenty of space for a run around in the grounds, bowls, dog bed, treats and poo bags in the room. Food was lovely and priced wel.

United KingdomWas put in the older more run down section of the property, likely because I was travelling solo for one night. I noticed Ants in both the rooms bathroom, and again in the restaurant at breakfast near the sugar/coffee machine. Not something I’m particularly bothered about but worth mentioning so the hotel is aware.
Location for Science Park visit. Building was nice.
