Each review score is between 1-10. To get the overall score that you see, we add up all the review scores we’ve received and divide that total by the number of review scores we’ve received. We are currently testing a weighted review system in Malta and Iceland (excluding hotel and vacation rental chains). For properties in these countries, the more recent the review, the bigger the impact on the total review score calculation. In addition, guests can give separate ‘subscores’ in crucial areas, such as location, cleanliness, staff, comfort, facilities, value for money and free Wi-Fi. Note that guests submit their subscores and their overall scores independently, so there’s no direct link between them.
You can review an Accommodation that you booked through our Platform if you stayed there or if you arrived at the property but didn’t actually stay there. To edit a review you’ve already submitted, please contact our Customer Service team.
We have people and automated systems that specialise in detecting fake reviews submitted to our Platform. If we find any, we delete them and, if necessary, take action against whoever is responsible.
Anyone else who spots something suspicious can always report it to our Customer Service team, so our Fraud team can investigate.
Ideally, we would publish every review we receive, whether positive or negative. However, we won’t display any review that includes or refers to (among other things):
To make sure reviews are relevant, we may only accept reviews that are submitted within 3 months of checking out, and we may stop showing reviews once they’re 36 months old – or if the Accommodation has a change of ownership.
An Accommodation may choose to reply to a review.
When you see multiple reviews, the most recent ones will be at the top, subject to a few other factors (what language a review is in, whether it’s just a rating or contains comments as well, etc.). If you like, you can sort and/or filter them (by time of year, review score, etc.).
We sometimes show external review scores from other well-known travel websites. We make it clear when we’ve done this.

This is a beautiful modern hotel with friendly and helpful staff. The rooms are relatively large for Europe. The location was convenient and close to some excellent restaurants yet not amid the craziness of the royal mile. The bar on the 7th floor had beautiful views and served food as well as drinks, including caviar!

Perfect location! Right across the street from the train station and very close to the Royal Mile! Loved being greeted with champagne. Rooms were super comfortable and beautifully decorated! Also - beautiful views from the bar as the sun was setting.

United StatesMarket Street hotel is located just outside the Edinburgh train station and just down hill from the royal mile (you do have to climb up steps to get to the royal mile). The street level entrance directs you to the 7th floor lobby. The staff were friendly and helpful. The room was lovely, big enough to walk around and have a little bistro table and chairs. The free mini bar had a small but varied selection. The room was quiet and had great blackout curtains (a door, actually). I really only slept there but I really enjoyed my brief visit!

NetherlandsWe would like to have more energy adapters available at the reception. We needed adapters as our own were very short, so we needed to charge our phones far from the bed, which is a bit inconvenient. Also the shower door is not very well sealed so whenever we showered there was a leakage to the bathroom floor.
We loved the view, the layout of the room and we actually loved to have the reception on the top level, this way it feels like we're just arriving home when we come back from a day out :)
