Each review score is between 1-10. To get the overall score that you see, we add up all the review scores we’ve received and divide that total by the number of review scores we’ve received. We are currently testing a weighted review system in Malta and Iceland (excluding hotel and vacation rental chains). For properties in these countries, the more recent the review, the bigger the impact on the total review score calculation. In addition, guests can give separate ‘subscores’ in crucial areas, such as location, cleanliness, staff, comfort, facilities, value for money and free Wi-Fi. Note that guests submit their subscores and their overall scores independently, so there’s no direct link between them.
You can review an Accommodation that you booked through our Platform if you stayed there or if you arrived at the property but didn’t actually stay there. To edit a review you’ve already submitted, please contact our Customer Service team.
We have people and automated systems that specialise in detecting fake reviews submitted to our Platform. If we find any, we delete them and, if necessary, take action against whoever is responsible.
Anyone else who spots something suspicious can always report it to our Customer Service team, so our Fraud team can investigate.
Ideally, we would publish every review we receive, whether positive or negative. However, we won’t display any review that includes or refers to (among other things):
To make sure reviews are relevant, we may only accept reviews that are submitted within 3 months of checking out, and we may stop showing reviews once they’re 36 months old – or if the Accommodation has a change of ownership.
An Accommodation may choose to reply to a review.
When you see multiple reviews, the most recent ones will be at the top, subject to a few other factors (what language a review is in, whether it’s just a rating or contains comments as well, etc.). If you like, you can sort and/or filter them (by time of year, review score, etc.).
We sometimes show external review scores from other well-known travel websites. We make it clear when we’ve done this.
These guidelines and standards aim to keep the content on Booking.com relevant and family-friendly without limiting expression of strong opinions. They are also applicable regardless of the sentiment of the comment.
Contributions should be travel related. The most helpful contributions are detailed and help others make better decisions. Please don’t include personal, political, ethical, or religious commentary. Promotional content will be removed and issues concerning Booking.com’s services should be routed to our Customer Service or Accommodation Service teams.
Contributions should be appropriate for a global audience. Please avoid using profanity or attempts to approximate profanity with creative spelling, in any language. Comments and media that include 'hate speech', discriminatory remarks, threats, sexually explicit remarks, violence, and the promotion of illegal activity are not permitted.
All content should be genuine and unique to the guest. Reviews are most valuable when they are original and unbiased. Your contribution should be yours. Booking.com property partners should not post on behalf of guests or offer incentives in exchange for reviews. Attempts to bring down the rating of a competitor by submitting a negative review will not be tolerated.
Respect the privacy of others. Booking.com will make an effort to obscure email addresses, telephone numbers, website addresses, social media accounts, and similar details.
The opinions expressed in contributions are those of Booking.com customers and properties and not of Booking.com. Booking.com does not accept responsibility or liability for any reviews or responses. Booking.com is a distributor (without any obligation to verify) and not a publisher of these comments and responses.
By default, reviews are sorted based on the date of the review and on additional criteria to display the most relevant reviews, including but not limited to: your language, reviews with text, and non-anonymous reviews. Additional sorting options may be available (by type of traveller, by score, etc.).

Great location, less than 5 minutes from the train station(s), 2 minutes to the beach and close to many food/drink places. Room was pleasant and homely with lovely staff and good English breakfast!

United KingdomMy room was on the ground floor sandwiched between the restaurant and the bar, so I was worried noise would keep me awake. I'd been hiking all day and just wanted to sleep There was live entertainment nearby, but this ended around 10pm and by 11pm everything was completely silent, so in the end it wasn't a problem. Shower was a little weak, but perfectly adequate.
I can't complain, my room was an absolute bargain. It was small, but it was a single room and for the price not a problem. I even liked the view of the park outside. Bed was a very comfy. Breakfast was great, it was quaint having to order and wait for breakfast, but the service was quick so no complaints really. Slightly regretting not giving the kippers a try, what with being near Torquay !

ItalyThe front door sticks a bit. Apart from that I cannot think of anything.
Busy, efficient, unpretentious, perfect location between beach and station. The food was excellent, thank you chef. Yes, the choices were limited and the portions controlled and meal times strictly limited. But I was not paying for anything I did not need. Even the evening entertainment, though not quite my 'thing', added to the good feeling. Ideal for coach parties and as a base for exploring or as a stopover point. There is a large bus station near the rail station, with frequent services to Plymouth, Totnes, Torquay, Newton Abbot and Brixham, including Sunday.

United KingdomThe shower could have been a bit more powerful and the bed a bit comfier. But for the price was still really impressed.
I checked in late and the hotel staff were so friendly. Even though I was leaving early in the morning so would miss breakfast, they offered to make me a breakfast anyway and on top of that were able to offer a vegan option. The location is so close to the seafront - loved that!

United KingdomThe decorations are very old fashioned, resembling the 1900s when the UK was at its peak. Personally we are more into modern decorations but this had its charm.
The facility was great and very characteristic, if you are looking for a full English experience this is the place.

United KingdomToo noisy as our room was under the dining area. So first thing in the morning all you could hear was banging, and the same in the evening up until 930pm. Not good if you have a small family.
Location good, food good.

United KingdomThe bed wasn’t made very well and was very uncomfortable. The hotel is tired and the wifi only worked in the bar. I unfortunately picked a weekend when an air show was on and all the access roads to the hotel were closed off until 7pm so check this before booking. I managed to get to the hotel but parking was limited and I ended up blocking people which meant you could be phoned anytime to move your car which limited me as to how far I could venture from the hotel.
The staff were really good and I had an evening meal which was very nice. The location was right on the seafront.

United KingdomBreakfast that was included in the price. Medioca. Limited range of options. Staff were helpful but we did have to wait for our food for some time and did not receive any toast that was also ordered with the breakfast. Limited starter options for myself.
I did like the location of the hotel. Rooms were to a good standard and also free parking was avaliable all day while staying at the hotel.

United KingdomUnfortunately our room was underneath the restaurant so very noisy, very early in the morning and sometimes late at night so I'm assuming that other guests had to walk through the restaurant to get to their rooms and the walls are very thin so he could hear the people in the room next to us. The beds were at the side of the television so you tried to turn the television as it was on a swivel table but you still didn't really get a very good view if you're lying side by side in the bed so there were two chairs with a table but the chairs weren't that comfortable to sit in.
The situation of the hotel was fantastic right on the sea front, stuff was lovely, the room what we were given was a very good size larger than what we booked.

United KingdomAlthough we did manage to park, I did notice that public can park for £5 per day, which made me think that if we had got there later we wouldn't have been able to park at the hotel, which is one of the things I look for when choosing an hotel. The cooked English breakfast was not the best and not enjoyable. Cheap sausage and bacon. However the staff and chef were wonderful and I was allowed to have a variety of starters for breakfast.
The bed was comfy and the staff went out there way to help and were very friendly and accommodating. The location was right on everything. The evening meal was good value and very tasty and enjoyable.

United KingdomTypical Victorian era seaside property that felt a little care worn. Especially our room which was very basic with a 1970’s feel. Lift was not working.
Location. Right in the centre of Paignton and a short walk to the beach which is about 50 yards away. Not far from the Cinema, restaurants and pubs. Nice Lobby area with seating to relax in and good breakfast. Very friendly down to earth staff. Free parking.
