Each review score is between 1-10. To get the overall score that you see, we add up all the review scores we’ve received and divide that total by the number of review scores we’ve received. We are currently testing a weighted review system in Malta and Iceland (excluding hotel and vacation rental chains). For properties in these countries, the more recent the review, the bigger the impact on the total review score calculation. In addition, guests can give separate ‘subscores’ in crucial areas, such as location, cleanliness, staff, comfort, facilities, value for money and free Wi-Fi. Note that guests submit their subscores and their overall scores independently, so there’s no direct link between them.
You can review an Accommodation that you booked through our Platform if you stayed there or if you arrived at the property but didn’t actually stay there. To edit a review you’ve already submitted, please contact our Customer Service team.
We have people and automated systems that specialise in detecting fake reviews submitted to our Platform. If we find any, we delete them and, if necessary, take action against whoever is responsible.
Anyone else who spots something suspicious can always report it to our Customer Service team, so our Fraud team can investigate.
Ideally, we would publish every review we receive, whether positive or negative. However, we won’t display any review that includes or refers to (among other things):
To make sure reviews are relevant, we may only accept reviews that are submitted within 3 months of checking out, and we may stop showing reviews once they’re 36 months old – or if the Accommodation has a change of ownership.
An Accommodation may choose to reply to a review.
When you see multiple reviews, the most recent ones will be at the top, subject to a few other factors (what language a review is in, whether it’s just a rating or contains comments as well, etc.). If you like, you can sort and/or filter them (by time of year, review score, etc.).
We sometimes show external review scores from other well-known travel websites. We make it clear when we’ve done this.
These guidelines and standards aim to keep the content on Booking.com relevant and family-friendly without limiting expression of strong opinions. They are also applicable regardless of the sentiment of the comment.
Contributions should be travel related. The most helpful contributions are detailed and help others make better decisions. Please don’t include personal, political, ethical, or religious commentary. Promotional content will be removed and issues concerning Booking.com’s services should be routed to our Customer Service or Accommodation Service teams.
Contributions should be appropriate for a global audience. Please avoid using profanity or attempts to approximate profanity with creative spelling, in any language. Comments and media that include 'hate speech', discriminatory remarks, threats, sexually explicit remarks, violence, and the promotion of illegal activity are not permitted.
All content should be genuine and unique to the guest. Reviews are most valuable when they are original and unbiased. Your contribution should be yours. Booking.com property partners should not post on behalf of guests or offer incentives in exchange for reviews. Attempts to bring down the rating of a competitor by submitting a negative review will not be tolerated.
Respect the privacy of others. Booking.com will make an effort to obscure email addresses, telephone numbers, website addresses, social media accounts, and similar details.
The opinions expressed in contributions are those of Booking.com customers and properties and not of Booking.com. Booking.com does not accept responsibility or liability for any reviews or responses. Booking.com is a distributor (without any obligation to verify) and not a publisher of these comments and responses.
By default, reviews are sorted based on the date of the review and on additional criteria to display the most relevant reviews, including but not limited to: your language, reviews with text, and non-anonymous reviews. Additional sorting options may be available (by type of traveller, by score, etc.).

United KingdomThe new lay out is chaotic. I know it was Lammas fair weekend, but you were shoving so many people into the hotel lobby and side rooms it felt tacky
It is part of the history and tradition of. Ally castle, despite numerous numbing over the decades

United KingdomRoom was very grubby. Lights in bathroom flickered all night. Staining on mattress which was vile. Decor was dated in room could go with a refresh, felt like we as a family were staying in student digs/hostel. No free parking also. No water on rooms. Kettle etc in a run door wooden wardrobe. Suppose you get what you pay for.

IrelandLocation was perfect, Ballycastle is a small town and the Marine Hotel is literally across the road from Seafront, and the harbour which is a very picturesque area. Perfect spot to stay with Children. From here we explored Giants Causeway, Carrick-a-Rede rope bridge, Cushendun Caves, Thor head Dunluce Castle and the Glens of Antrim, but the area has lots more to offer also, the area has Outstanding Natural Beauty. Marine Hotel is the perfect hotel and ticks all the right boxes

United KingdomOverall the accommodation was adequate. The staff were very friendly and welcoming. The food was great. Absolutely adored the fact that there were welcome bowls for the dogs and the location by the beach was very convenient for us. The downsides would be the lack of air con or fan. It did get warm at night. We couldn’t leave the patio open because there was a night out across the road that was noisy until the early hours. Parking advice could be clearer. Thank you.

United KingdomAlthough the rooms were nice, there wasn't very much else to shout about . I'm Sorry but if I am £210 for one night I really don't want to see staff walking about in Nike trainers to me it's extremely unprofessional for the prices you are charging people staff are not presented well at all. Breakfast was a joke ,the hot food is set up to make you wait as long as humanly possible for hot food. You would be doing yourself a massive favour by making the food self-service and only eggs and other things cook to order . Instead, I had to wait while the lady In front me had ordered something that took the chef away from the pass had this been self serviced. This wouldn't be an issue. I walked off, having waited long enough so I didn't get the breakfast that I paid for. Staff in the restaurant are next to clueless on how to seat or greet people coming in as someone quite literally seen us standing and continued to talk to another member of staff while we were waiting to be seated. I am extremely disappointed in my stay here and not to sure I would book again if you're charging 200 a night, you should at least have presentable knowledgeable staff. Me and my partner stayed here in the hope of booking our wedding there as we are regular visitors to Ballycastle we surely won't be considering this now as I found my stay to be more akin to a hostel or b&b which probably would have been better value . Very disappointing
The rooms where nice and the hotel seemed to be clean from what I could see.

United KingdomMy only criticism is that it would have been great to have a table and chairs by the window so I could sit and watch the world go by while having a coffee and reading my book.
The view from my room was exceptional I could see onto the tennis court and the beach...the bed was so comfortable I could have staid in bed all day but had to check out ...I stayed in the .obesity room the shower was great and everything was as it should be for someone with mobility problems. The breakfast was amazing no faults there at all...really annoyed I didn't book an extra night...but there's always next time

United KingdomWe were very unhappy with our stay, we had 2 small children with us and this hotel is not suitable for small children, they have no facilities for small children This hotel has the feel of a hostel, the reception desk is stuck in a corner, the lobby is tiny and there is no proper bar We were given a room in the boathouse- this is located at the back of the property and there is no direct access to the hotel, you have walk outside the hotel to get to it This hotel is overpriced and we will not be returning
It is located right on the sea front and staff were friendly and helpful

United KingdomCouldn’t find reception desk on arrival, tucked away in a corner. Carpet in lift dirty and frayed. No blind on the bathroom window and although there is frosted glass all the people coming along the road could make out your shape when thelight is turned on. Fake tan on 1 of our towels and the bathroom door was covered in stains. No drinking water in the room. Definitely not worth the price we paid..

United KingdomComplimentary bottled of water in the room would've been really nice as most hotels do this and air conditioning would be great as the room can get incredibly humid in the hot weather even with the window open for hours on end.
The staff were fantastic, incredibly friendly and helpful, they were brilliant with my 2 year old daughter as well! Food was delightful and drinks were just as good!
