Read more– opens a dialog boxEach review score is between 1–10. To get the overall score that you see, we add up all the review scores we’ve received and divide that total by the number of review scores we’ve received. We're currently testing a weighted review system in Malta and Iceland (excluding hotel and vacation rental chains). For properties in these countries, the more recent the review, the bigger the impact on the total review score calculation. In addition, guests can give separate "subscores" in crucial areas, such as location, cleanliness, staff, comfort, facilities, value for money, and free Wifi. Note that guests submit their subscores and their overall scores independently, so there’s no direct link between them.
You can review an accommodation that you booked through our platform if you stayed there, or if you got to the property but didn’t actually stay there. To edit a review you’ve already submitted, contact our Customer Service team.
We have people and automated systems that specialize in detecting fake reviews submitted to our platform. If we find any, we delete them and, if necessary, take action against whoever is responsible.
Anyone who spots something suspicious can always report it to our Customer Service team so that our fraud team can investigate.
Ideally, we'd publish every review we get, positive and negative. However, we won’t display any reviews that include or refer to (among other things):
To make sure reviews are relevant, we may only accept reviews that are submitted within 3 months of checking out. We may stop showing reviews once they’re 36 months old, or if the accommodation has a change of ownership.
An accommodation can reply to a review.
When you see multiple reviews, the most recent ones will be at the top, subject to a few other factors (e.g. language, whether it’s just a rating or contains comments as well, etc.). You can sort and/or filter them by time of year, review score, and more.
Sometimes we show external review scores from other well-known travel websites, but make it clear when we do this.
These guidelines and standards aim to keep the content on Booking.com relevant and family-friendly, without limiting expression or strong opinions. They're also applicable regardless of the comment's tone.
Contributions should be travel related. The most helpful contributions are detailed and help others make better decisions. Please don’t include personal, political, ethical, or religious commentary. Promotional content will be removed and issues concerning Booking.com’s services should be routed to our Customer Service or Accommodation Service teams.
Contributions should be appropriate for a global audience. Please avoid using profanity or attempts to approximate profanity with creative spelling, in any language. Comments and media that include hate speech, discriminatory remarks, threats, sexually explicit remarks, violence, or the promotion of illegal activity are not permitted.
All content should be genuine and unique to the guest. Reviews are most valuable when they are original and unbiased. Your contribution should be yours. Booking.com property partners should not post on behalf of guests or offer incentives in exchange for reviews. Attempts to bring down the rating of a competitor by submitting a negative review will not be tolerated.
Respect the privacy of others. Booking.com will make an effort to obscure email addresses, telephone numbers, website addresses, social media accounts, and other similar details.
The opinions expressed in contributions are those of Booking.com customers and properties, and not of Booking.com. Booking.com does not accept responsibility or liability for any reviews or responses. Booking.com is a distributor (without any obligation to verify) and not a publisher of these comments and responses.
By default, reviews are sorted based on the date of the review and on additional criteria to display the most relevant reviews, including but not limited to: your language, reviews with text, and non-anonymous reviews. Additional sorting options might be available (by type of traveler, by score, etc...).

United KingdomOne gripe I had was that we were upgraded on our room but when we got there it had a wet room rather than a shower and bath.

United KingdomOnly negatives were a limited restaurant menu (we dined out) and a noisy ventilation unit behind panelling in the bathroom. Staff promised to investigate. This may have been a temporary problem.
Nice large room with little balcony. Coffee machine, kettle, iron and everything you need for a comfortable stay. Fantastic central location snd fascinating historic building. We didn't use the dining facilities morning or evening.

United KingdomCheck wasn’t great. No one checked if it was a special occasion which I saw other employees do. It was a special celebration but it was not noted despite me flagging this up on booking. Service charge for making a cocktail on top of room fee? No esp as the price was not adjusted when I asked for no vodka in my cocktail. Feel a bit ripped off tbh.
Location and room comfort and cleanliness.

GermanyWindows cannot be opened. The shower was oddly laid out, which made flooding the bathroom inevitable. When we mentioned this as the reason for our opt-out of the resource-saving no-cleaning-during-our-stay-scheme, they put it down to a drainage issue and claimed to have fixed it. Which of course they hadn’t, as the next shower demonstrated. Also, we were asked to specify when we wanted our car on the day of departure; we did, but then it wasn’t ready, bc of miscommunication among staff. It was then brought quickly enough, but if you do get asked, and plan accordingly, this can cause unwelcome delays.
Excellent location, really quiet, feels very safe 😉, does have parking.

United KingdomThe room was hot and the windows didn’t open. There was no air conditioning just ventilation so we had to leave the door open to the hallway to get some cool air. Perhaps a lighter duvet or a sheet would have been better on the bed.
Central location, friendly staff. Interesting building and lovely grass area with outside bar tables

AustraliaNot having a fridge in the room was a big negative for us. Apparently there is a fridge somewhere for guests to put things, but we like to have wine and cheese in our room. The shower space was very tiny, although the bathroom was spacious. Car parking was very expensive. (The valet staff were lovely though) We didn’t eat at the hotel because the prices were too high
The bath was great. Nice to have a balcony. Room staff were great. Quiet.

United KingdomThe price to park at the hotel is ridiculous. At £34 per night I'm glad we only stayed for one especially when the rooms are so expensive to begin with. I have a disability so I find using public transport difficult while carrying luggage. Therefore I rely heavily on my car and need to park at my destination. The lift wasn't working which again was slightly inconvenient but we were offered a room on the ground floor so it wasn't a major issue. One last thing... I know it's not the responsibility of the staff to remind guests but I think it could be asked at check in if the guests have paid the ZEZ charge (if applicable). I only realised when we got home when a friend asked how much I was charged that I'd even heard of the ZEZ. It's not a huge amount to pay in the first instance but it is if you don't realise and get fined.
This was our second time staying here, the 1st time being over a decade ago and it was just as good as it was back then. It's a beautiful hotel/prison/castle with lots of interesting history. The rooms/cells are quirky and a little creepy but spacious and comfortable. The staff are friendly and efficient, they have a wealth of helpful local knowledge and are always on hand to help. Cocktails were lovely, breakfast was tasty and plentiful. We ordered room service late at night which was really enjoyable and arrived in our room super quick.

United KingdomThe room did not have aircon, which we thought it had, and was very hot. We were both awake in the night and room service did bring as a fan, but we did not have a great night sleep. Otherwise the room was comfortable. Great experience but we would likely stay at a more cost effective hotel with Aircon next time.
Location is amazing and we stayed in one of the original cell rooms, which was fantastic.

United KingdomEven with the upgrade, it really is very expensive for what it is e.g. no fridge in the room, only one comfy chair. Room was somewhat stuffy & we couldn’t find a way to cool it down. Obviously, you can’t open a window!
Great location, unique architecture, lovely bar & outside seating area. Comfy bed, great free-standing bath, plentiful hot water. Staff were very friendly, helpful & efficient. Without asking, we had been given a room upgrade (to a Club Cell!)

FinlandJust tiny things could be better. The counter at check-in is really low. Especially when there is some background noise, it is difficult to hear the staff. You must lean on the table and the position is quite uncomfortable. Please provide a chair for the customer at the check-in/out. There was a rat in the garden where we has evening drinks.
We liked the rooms and the location was perfect for us visiting Nuffield College. Breakfast was OK, but we missed cheese. The staff was helpful and friendly (but not always knowledgeable).

RussiaDon't expect that you can book and sleep in the real prison cell.
There is a parking in front of the hotel, but you need to pre book it. Part of the hotel is a prison that has been renovated and you can even find an old cell. Restaurant is good. They do some special offers on stakes and we get 2 cocktails for free, so that was one of the cheapest dinner for this trip. Rooms are big and nice. Bed was a king size and sleeping was amazing.
