Each review score is between 1-10. To get the overall score that you see, we add up all the review scores we’ve received and divide that total by the number of review scores we’ve received. We are currently testing a weighted review system in Malta and Iceland (excluding hotel and vacation rental chains). For properties in these countries, the more recent the review, the bigger the impact on the total review score calculation. In addition, guests can give separate ‘subscores’ in crucial areas, such as location, cleanliness, staff, comfort, facilities, value for money and free Wi-Fi. Note that guests submit their subscores and their overall scores independently, so there’s no direct link between them.
You can review an Accommodation that you booked through our Platform if you stayed there or if you arrived at the property but didn’t actually stay there. To edit a review you’ve already submitted, please contact our Customer Service team.
We have people and automated systems that specialise in detecting fake reviews submitted to our Platform. If we find any, we delete them and, if necessary, take action against whoever is responsible.
Anyone else who spots something suspicious can always report it to our Customer Service team, so our Fraud team can investigate.
Ideally, we would publish every review we receive, whether positive or negative. However, we won’t display any review that includes or refers to (among other things):
To make sure reviews are relevant, we may only accept reviews that are submitted within 3 months of checking out, and we may stop showing reviews once they’re 36 months old – or if the Accommodation has a change of ownership.
An Accommodation may choose to reply to a review.
When you see multiple reviews, the most recent ones will be at the top, subject to a few other factors (what language a review is in, whether it’s just a rating or contains comments as well, etc.). If you like, you can sort and/or filter them (by time of year, review score, etc.).
We sometimes show external review scores from other well-known travel websites. We make it clear when we’ve done this.
These guidelines and standards aim to keep the content on Booking.com relevant and family-friendly without limiting expression of strong opinions. They are also applicable regardless of the sentiment of the comment.
Contributions should be travel related. The most helpful contributions are detailed and help others make better decisions. Please don’t include personal, political, ethical, or religious commentary. Promotional content will be removed and issues concerning Booking.com’s services should be routed to our Customer Service or Accommodation Service teams.
Contributions should be appropriate for a global audience. Please avoid using profanity or attempts to approximate profanity with creative spelling, in any language. Comments and media that include 'hate speech', discriminatory remarks, threats, sexually explicit remarks, violence, and the promotion of illegal activity are not permitted.
All content should be genuine and unique to the guest. Reviews are most valuable when they are original and unbiased. Your contribution should be yours. Booking.com property partners should not post on behalf of guests or offer incentives in exchange for reviews. Attempts to bring down the rating of a competitor by submitting a negative review will not be tolerated.
Respect the privacy of others. Booking.com will make an effort to obscure email addresses, telephone numbers, website addresses, social media accounts, and similar details.
The opinions expressed in contributions are those of Booking.com customers and properties and not of Booking.com. Booking.com does not accept responsibility or liability for any reviews or responses. Booking.com is a distributor (without any obligation to verify) and not a publisher of these comments and responses.
By default, reviews are sorted based on the date of the review and on additional criteria to display the most relevant reviews, including but not limited to: your language, reviews with text, and non-anonymous reviews. Additional sorting options may be available (by type of traveller, by score, etc.).

United StatesOur room was on the first floor ( two steep stairways up). Arriving tired, with luggage, that was not pleasant, and we couldn’t check in until 4:30 pm. Also checkout is earlier than other hotels, 10am.
It was near the local bus station, so we could easily walk there to get the bus to Canterbury. Also, I had left a handbag in the room, and the owner /manager took it all the way to the bus station for me!

CanadaIf I have to identify anything, it would be that the kitchen could have been a bit more well equipped, like a knife to slice bread.
The location very central to the train station, the beach and all amenities. The room itself was comfortable and clean.

CanadaThe shower floor is very slippery; they need a rubber bath mat.
The staff went to great lengths to explain a mix-up in communications that we had. She was willing to accommodate my request to leave my bags for a few hours on departure.

FranceThe bathroom was separate and down the hall. Stairs and you needed a key to access it. Bed was a single . Was a little les than I expected for the price yet at the same time I couldn’t fault it. So adequate just not what I expected
The attention to detail and everything necessary was provided. Nothing was lacking to detract from your stay

GermanyThere could be more storage shelfs and hooks on the bathroom.
We were greeted very friendly and the check in was quick. The owner gave us recommendation for a place to eat. She was also available on our second day when we needed an extra towel after going to the beach. We also loved the cute owl details in the room.

United KingdomThe room i booked included a private bathroom, which was outside the room. A key will be given to you to access the bathroom which is just across the room. This was not an issue, and the bathroom was big and veryyy clean. Also, the room was on the third floor accessible by stairs only.
The location was great, 10 minutes walking distance from the station. The room was very clean and well maintained, perfect for a short visit. Gowns with slippers were provided, coffee and tea included with hot water, and there was a sink in the room with towels. A fan was available in case it got hot. Perfect room. The owner Sandra was very sweet, professional, and welcoming, and guides were available to help you check the activities in dover.

Finlandstairs were steep and narrow. not all the rooms have bathrooms, maybe that’s why you could here people in the corridor. water pressure in the shower is not strong but it was far from the worst we had in u.k.
Room was small but clean and had a view to the castle from the bed. Host was very friendly to let us check in a bit too early and also helped us to call a reliable taxi when the first one stood us up on our way to the ferry

AustraliaWas not aware that we had to contact the owner prior to arriving to be able to drop the bags off as we arrived early & it was raining & the owner was in the process of cleaning the rooms. I don’t believe I saw anything about this on booking.com otherwise I would have made arrangements directly with the owner beforehand.
Location is so close to Dover Castle & the shopping district, so very handy for walking around.

AustraliaAir conditioning was a fan in the corner. Very hot and stuffy. Doona cover too heavy and needs a sheet between it as it wasn’t washed daily. I watched the room being prepared for next day and it wasn’t changed Not enough toilet paper. TV too far from bed to hear unless you turn it loud and disturb neighbours room
Clean but suspect that the doona cover was not changed every time. It was extremely heavy and embossed. It would have been hard to wash and dry daily
