Each review score is between 1-10. To get the overall score that you see, we add up all the review scores we’ve received and divide that total by the number of review scores we’ve received. We are currently testing a weighted review system in Malta, Iceland, Australia, Greece, Brazil and North Carolina. For properties in these regions, the more recent the review, the bigger the impact on the total review score calculation. In addition, guests can give separate ‘subscores’ in crucial areas, such as location, cleanliness, staff, comfort, facilities, value for money and free Wi-Fi. Note that guests submit their subscores and their overall scores independently, so there’s no direct link between them.
You can review an Accommodation that you booked through our Platform if you stayed there or if you arrived at the property but didn’t actually stay there. To edit a review you’ve already submitted, please contact our Customer Service team.
We have people and automated systems that specialise in detecting fake reviews submitted to our Platform. If we find any, we delete them and, if necessary, take action against whoever is responsible.
Anyone else who spots something suspicious can always report it to our Customer Service team, so our Fraud team can investigate.
Ideally, we would publish every review we receive, whether positive or negative. However, we won’t display any review that includes or refers to (among other things):
To make sure reviews are relevant, we may only accept reviews that are submitted within 3 months of checking out, and we may stop showing reviews once they’re 36 months old – or if the Accommodation has a change of ownership.
An Accommodation may choose to reply to a review.
When you see multiple reviews, the most recent ones will be at the top, subject to a few other factors (what language a review is in, whether it’s just a rating or contains comments as well, etc.). If you like, you can sort and/or filter them (by time of year, review score, etc.).
We sometimes show external review scores from other well-known travel websites. We make it clear when we’ve done this.
These guidelines and standards aim to keep the content on Booking.com relevant and family-friendly without limiting expression of strong opinions. They are also applicable regardless of the sentiment of the comment.
Contributions should be travel related. The most helpful contributions are detailed and help others make better decisions. Please don’t include personal, political, ethical, or religious commentary. Promotional content will be removed and issues concerning Booking.com’s services should be routed to our Customer Service or Accommodation Service teams.
Contributions should be appropriate for a global audience. Please avoid using profanity or attempts to approximate profanity with creative spelling, in any language. Comments and media that include 'hate speech', discriminatory remarks, threats, sexually explicit remarks, violence, and the promotion of illegal activity are not permitted.
All content should be genuine and unique to the guest. Reviews are most valuable when they are original and unbiased. Your contribution should be yours. Booking.com property partners should not post on behalf of guests or offer incentives in exchange for reviews. Attempts to bring down the rating of a competitor by submitting a negative review will not be tolerated.
Respect the privacy of others. Booking.com will make an effort to obscure email addresses, telephone numbers, website addresses, social media accounts, and similar details.
The opinions expressed in contributions are those of Booking.com customers and properties and not of Booking.com. Booking.com does not accept responsibility or liability for any reviews or responses. Booking.com is a distributor (without any obligation to verify) and not a publisher of these comments and responses.
By default, reviews are sorted based on the date of the review and on additional criteria to display the most relevant reviews, including but not limited to: your language, reviews with text, and non-anonymous reviews. Additional sorting options may be available (by type of traveller, by score, etc.).

Magnolia cottage is a really well presented and cosy place to stay. I visited in autumn and used the log burner in the evenings. The property is on a quiet street and easy to find. It had everything I needed for the weekend stay from a facilities perspective and was well positioned for me to access the hills of Caer Caradoc and Long Mynd. Church Stretton centre is a short walk away across the main road and a foot bridge at the train station.

United KingdomNothing - everything has been thought of for guests.
The cottage was beautiful, in its design and furnishings. It was homely, clean and just had everything we needed. It looks lovely, spacious, high spec furnishings, and just a great space to enter. Everything just felt wonderful here. Everything was catered for. Kids loved it. We all slept well. Peaceful, idyllic setting (and scenic bedroom window views), a very thoughtful host in how lovely the house was. It’s the best place we’ve stayed in on our holidays.

Magnolia Cottage was just perfect for us whilst visiting family in the area. Silvie and Mark have thought of everything for people staying in their cosy house. The best equipped self catering accommodation I have ever stayed in. The local area is lovely. We visited cafes and pubs and were welcomed everywhere we went. I really do hope to return some day.

United KingdomThe house is perfect so quiet and comfortable. The beds are exceptional, and we slept so well. Ideally positioned for the town and the wonderful hills even in the wind and showers we walked miles. There was a cake and lovely fresh milk along with some local beer in the fridge. Flexible check-in and out very easy with keypad.

United KingdomFor me the bed was a bit hard. My partner slept like a log. My daughter and partner in the back bedroom did have a squeaky bed.
It was like home from home. Everything you need. Cake on the table and beer and milk in the fridge. Ice blocks in the freezer. An abundance of bath towels and flannels and shower gels. Very quiet neighbourhood. Off road parking.

NorwayThe weather.
From the outside the house looks rather ordinary. Inside though; tasteful furnishings, very comfortable, and well equiped, with a lovely garden. Don't believe the photos - everything is even better than it looks.

United KingdomNothing to improve on.
The house was spotlessly clean, comfy and well appointed, we especially loved the log burner. The location is so handy for the train station and also Church Stretton is a charming town to visit. Sylvie couldn't have been a better host, she left us homemade cake, beers and coconut milk (all vegan after I notified before arrival our dietary requirements). The bathroom had lots of lovely body products which were all eco friendly. Sylvie let us have a late check out after I asked if it would be possible which was so handy for us travelling by train with two very small children. Couldn't recommend this place more. The price was also about half the amount it would have cost us to stay in Shrewsbury centre.

Our stay was excellent. The cottage has so much space, is wonderfully presented and has everything you need for a great stay. Like all the best self-accomodating places they provide small basics that just make a stay so much easier and better like kitchen essentials etc. The location is also excellent, close to the main area of Church Stretton and easy to access the rest of the Hills. Was excellent value and would recommend to anyone.

The provision of essentials and extras. Milk in the fridge, a homemade cake and tea bags for first night were especially welcome. As we were only staying 3 nights it was nice not to have to buy/bring items such as washing up liquid, kitchen roll, shampoo.

AustraliaThere was a manual on how to operate the oven, but manuals for other appliances would have been useful. A text to the owner about the heating went unanswered but we figured it out. A power outage was a bit of a shock but a quick call to the owner on where the fuse box was located provided the information we needed to fix the problem.
Convenient, well equipped, clean, off street parking a big plus. Cup cakes on arrival were delicious. Lots of little extras like a plentiful supply of tea and coffee, milk, pantry items and an array of toiletries were great. Lovely fireplace too!

New ZealandEverything you need is provided and the hosts were generous in supplying over and above. Cereals and 1 liter milk, plenty of coffee, tea, sugar, salt, couple bottles of beer, and a homemade loaf. They also provide more than one bath towel, hand towel or tea towel. This place felt like they valued our booking. There is a washing machine and a drying rack with a room to put it up. It felt like a home away from home. Quiet, clean and comfortable. Water pressure was great. Own off road parking right at the door. Central to the amazing walking trails (or running) which you can walk to from the accommodation. The town center is a 3 minute drive and the train station is within walking distance. We loved our 5 day stay here and would highly recommend.

This was a return visit to Magnolia cottage and once again we were delighted with the quality of the accommodation. Thoughtful touches such as homemade cake and good quality toiletries reflect the care that the home owners take to ensure guests receive a warm welcome. Church Stretton provides the perfect base for a walking holiday and easily accessible day trips to Ludlow, Shrewsbury, Leominster and other local tourist attractions. We hope to return again in future.
