Each review score is between 1-10. To get the overall score that you see, we add up all the review scores we’ve received and divide that total by the number of review scores we’ve received. We are currently testing a weighted review system in Malta, Iceland, Australia, Greece, Brazil and North Carolina. For properties in these regions, the more recent the review, the bigger the impact on the total review score calculation. In addition, guests can give separate ‘subscores’ in crucial areas, such as location, cleanliness, staff, comfort, facilities, value for money and free Wi-Fi. Note that guests submit their subscores and their overall scores independently, so there’s no direct link between them.
You can review an Accommodation that you booked through our Platform if you stayed there or if you arrived at the property but didn’t actually stay there. To edit a review you’ve already submitted, please contact our Customer Service team.
We have people and automated systems that specialise in detecting fake reviews submitted to our Platform. If we find any, we delete them and, if necessary, take action against whoever is responsible.
Anyone else who spots something suspicious can always report it to our Customer Service team, so our Fraud team can investigate.
Ideally, we would publish every review we receive, whether positive or negative. However, we won’t display any review that includes or refers to (among other things):
To make sure reviews are relevant, we may only accept reviews that are submitted within 3 months of checking out, and we may stop showing reviews once they’re 36 months old – or if the Accommodation has a change of ownership.
An Accommodation may choose to reply to a review.
When you see multiple reviews, the most recent ones will be at the top, subject to a few other factors (what language a review is in, whether it’s just a rating or contains comments as well, etc.). If you like, you can sort and/or filter them (by time of year, review score, etc.).
We sometimes show external review scores from other well-known travel websites. We make it clear when we’ve done this.
These guidelines and standards aim to keep the content on Booking.com relevant and family-friendly without limiting expression of strong opinions. They are also applicable regardless of the sentiment of the comment.
Contributions should be travel related. The most helpful contributions are detailed and help others make better decisions. Please don’t include personal, political, ethical, or religious commentary. Promotional content will be removed and issues concerning Booking.com’s services should be routed to our Customer Service or Accommodation Service teams.
Contributions should be appropriate for a global audience. Please avoid using profanity or attempts to approximate profanity with creative spelling, in any language. Comments and media that include 'hate speech', discriminatory remarks, threats, sexually explicit remarks, violence, and the promotion of illegal activity are not permitted.
All content should be genuine and unique to the guest. Reviews are most valuable when they are original and unbiased. Your contribution should be yours. Booking.com property partners should not post on behalf of guests or offer incentives in exchange for reviews. Attempts to bring down the rating of a competitor by submitting a negative review will not be tolerated.
Respect the privacy of others. Booking.com will make an effort to obscure email addresses, telephone numbers, website addresses, social media accounts, and similar details.
The opinions expressed in contributions are those of Booking.com customers and properties and not of Booking.com. Booking.com does not accept responsibility or liability for any reviews or responses. Booking.com is a distributor (without any obligation to verify) and not a publisher of these comments and responses.
By default, reviews are sorted based on the date of the review and on additional criteria to display the most relevant reviews, including but not limited to: your language, reviews with text, and non-anonymous reviews. Additional sorting options may be available (by type of traveller, by score, etc.).

United KingdomBed should be more comfortable. And the shower head can be bigger with better pressure. Shower and sleeping are two very important factors in guest's experience with a hotel. If they can be improved, the overall experience is improved significantly. The service of Restaurant on site are expected to be better and the price is expensive.
The facilities, floorplan and size of the flat are very user friendly to small families.

United KingdomShower, lighting.
Great location to explore New Forest, Lymington , Isle of Wight. We were able to walk to the Ferry to the IOW, and get a hotel discount code. The Lodge was tired, needs an update. Bathroom needs a refit. My husband at 6ft, struggled with the over the bath shower . It is angled into the sloping roof. ....he hit his head! We were lucky with weather and the fact that there wasn't a wedding on. We didn't use the restaurant or leisure facilities. Would stay again.

United KingdomAlthough the bedroom was clean and comfortable we had to complain to Reception about (a) the shower controls and (b) the state of the shower tray which had a lot of mould around it. The hotel maintenance man checked the shower controls on our third day and had to order parts for a repair. We told Reception when checking out on our last day that we could'nt shower that morning because the controls were very difficult to use and control the temperature of the water which varied between very hot and cold ! Generally the bathroom could have been a lot more inviting and cleaner.
The food in the restaurant was excellent with a wide selection ; the outdoor pool was good but because the weather was cold we didnt use it.

United KingdomRestricted opening of meal/lounge bar facility in main building and The Solent restaurant only open at breakfast and lunch. Tudor Restaurant had no atmosphere and food whilst nice for the one meal we had, was pricy; and as stated above, there was no other option available. We did not find the staff, especially reception, particularly welcoming or friendly- very “to the point” with no emotion or suggestion of wishing to please. Outside our front entrance door were beer barrels which I had to move to enable passage to/from the door, and a constant external water leak from somewhere high up had resulted in green slime on path which we had to negotiate each time. Room was not cleaned or beds made in the seven days we stayed.
Ideal location for a New Forest experience. Large garden area and leisure facilities.

United KingdomRooms and corridors were a bit tired/dated in the main building, although overall okay. Beds uncomfortable, I could feel a spring through my mattress. Patio/balcony could do with a sweep, weed and wash. Outdoor pool needed a bit of a clean as lots of dirt and grass on the bottom. Bathrooms dated, tiles cracked and overall need a refurb.
Beautiful building, grounds and great leisure facilities which we used daily. Apartments were well equipped and staff helpful. Allocated parking was a bonus. When we asked for extra pillows they arrived promptly. We made a late request for an accessible room and this was accommodated. Rooms spacious and warm. Lots of hot water.

United KingdomTennis courts were good. I don’t think they get used enough for the hotel to resurface them. So they were a bit uneven. On arrival we went to the Solent Bar for a drink whilst the room was being finished. The counter was full of used plates and cups. Flies were coming in and it just felt dirty from the mess. Wasn't the best 'first impression’ to have had. We did see some bad reviews ahead of the trip about the food not being great and as we were out most of the day/evening, we didn't dine at the hotel. However, both evenings we did meet other guests who confirmed that the food wasn't great. Which is a big shame for a 4*.
The grounds of the property were stunning. All staff were fantastic especially John the bar man. Went out of his way to ensure our experience was great! Thank vou John! We stayed in West Cottage 1 and had our own parking spot. Although we didn't realise it was a self catering property and had a kitchen (otherwise we would have brought food from home) we popped into Lymington to pick up some essentials which was fine for us as the town is lovely! The cottage had a kitchen, lounge, diner and patio area. We were away for a celebration and the hotel brought us a bottle of Prosecco which was an added touch. Although I have noted a couple of bits in the ‘dislike’ section, we couldn’t fault the general hotel & the staff we met and therefore would recommend & return.
