Each review score is between 1-10. To get the overall score that you see, we add up all the review scores we’ve received and divide that total by the number of review scores we’ve received. We are currently testing a weighted review system in Malta, Iceland, Australia, Greece, Brazil and North Carolina. For properties in these regions, the more recent the review, the bigger the impact on the total review score calculation. In addition, guests can give separate ‘subscores’ in crucial areas, such as location, cleanliness, staff, comfort, facilities, value for money and free Wi-Fi. Note that guests submit their subscores and their overall scores independently, so there’s no direct link between them.
You can review an Accommodation that you booked through our Platform if you stayed there or if you arrived at the property but didn’t actually stay there. To edit a review you’ve already submitted, please contact our Customer Service team.
We have people and automated systems that specialise in detecting fake reviews submitted to our Platform. If we find any, we delete them and, if necessary, take action against whoever is responsible.
Anyone else who spots something suspicious can always report it to our Customer Service team, so our Fraud team can investigate.
Ideally, we would publish every review we receive, whether positive or negative. However, we won’t display any review that includes or refers to (among other things):
To make sure reviews are relevant, we may only accept reviews that are submitted within 3 months of checking out, and we may stop showing reviews once they’re 36 months old – or if the Accommodation has a change of ownership.
An Accommodation may choose to reply to a review.
When you see multiple reviews, the most recent ones will be at the top, subject to a few other factors (what language a review is in, whether it’s just a rating or contains comments as well, etc.). If you like, you can sort and/or filter them (by time of year, review score, etc.).
We sometimes show external review scores from other well-known travel websites. We make it clear when we’ve done this.
These guidelines and standards aim to keep the content on Booking.com relevant and family-friendly without limiting expression of strong opinions. They are also applicable regardless of the sentiment of the comment.
Contributions should be travel related. The most helpful contributions are detailed and help others make better decisions. Please don’t include personal, political, ethical, or religious commentary. Promotional content will be removed and issues concerning Booking.com’s services should be routed to our Customer Service or Accommodation Service teams.
Contributions should be appropriate for a global audience. Please avoid using profanity or attempts to approximate profanity with creative spelling, in any language. Comments and media that include 'hate speech', discriminatory remarks, threats, sexually explicit remarks, violence, and the promotion of illegal activity are not permitted.
All content should be genuine and unique to the guest. Reviews are most valuable when they are original and unbiased. Your contribution should be yours. Booking.com property partners should not post on behalf of guests or offer incentives in exchange for reviews. Attempts to bring down the rating of a competitor by submitting a negative review will not be tolerated.
Respect the privacy of others. Booking.com will make an effort to obscure email addresses, telephone numbers, website addresses, social media accounts, and similar details.
The opinions expressed in contributions are those of Booking.com customers and properties and not of Booking.com. Booking.com does not accept responsibility or liability for any reviews or responses. Booking.com is a distributor (without any obligation to verify) and not a publisher of these comments and responses.
By default, reviews are sorted based on the date of the review and on additional criteria to display the most relevant reviews, including but not limited to: your language, reviews with text, and non-anonymous reviews. Additional sorting options may be available (by type of traveller, by score, etc.).

United KingdomThe restaurant by the spa was probably the only part we were a little disappointed in but the starters were amazing.
Beautiful grounds and buildings, the hotel looks amazing and full of charm. Spa facilities were amazing, we were given robes which was a nice touch. We booked 2 nights as it was our wedding anniversary, the room was large and comfortable which was away from the main house but it was nice as the restaurant and spa facilities were very close. The breakfast was nice with a excellent selection. Loved the hotel and would definitely go back again, the staff were very friendly and helpful. Highly recommend!!

United KingdomThe shower in the room was not good at all, I understand there is a refurb planned, so expect this will be addressed, but I think maybe the price should reflect this for now. The pool area was also quite tired looking and dirty where people must have been coming from outside into pool area.
Beautiful grounds and the staff were all extremely friendly and helpful.

United KingdomRoom was really difficult to find (above the golf shop) really need some more clear signs around the place. Even a sign for reception would be helpful!!! Bit tired in places Hardly any drinks on draft in the 19th hole or Adams Brasserie….. no Guinness or IPA (these had both run out)
Location, very grand building and grounds. Staff were lovely…. Especially the guy in the 19th hole who helped me find my room and the lovely Indian waitress in Adams Brasserie

United KingdomStayed here for 3 nights but Couldn’t sleep well on the last night as we have encountered a massive spider in the room at around 12:30am. Also, the air conditioner didn’t work properly in the room number 132. I didn’t make any complaints as it was a last night.
Unbelievable History and the staffs. Specially Emily and Laura, they are absolutely helpful. Everyone must visit here if you have a chance

United KingdomFacilities and general upkeeping gone down. Trash (cans and bottles) scattered around golf course, fallen fences and wooden sleepers falling apart. No attention to details. Dinner with our son (12 years old) - took 3 hours, as staff overstretched, unable to keep up. Very dissapointed
This was our 7th stay at Luton Hoo, great location

United KingdomWe booked room for 3 adults only to find the sofa bed was not a sofa bed and a small Zbed was located and squeezed in the living room even though we were charged full price. We found this very unacceptable. The 3rd adult had a very uncomfortable night.

United KingdomThis was my partners birthday and they did not have any bottles of champagne. I had to make do with sparkling English wine which was ok. We wanted two bottles of Rioja wine but they only had one bottle left. The breakfast was ok but the previous time we stayed it was superb (all cooked to order). I understand there has been a change of ownership to Luton Hoo and it did feel like there had been some cut backs on quality.
The spa facilities are excellent although a few more indoor chairs would be good. The room was good (although there was a low hum from a fan somewhere). The staff were very pleasant.

United KingdomThere were a couple of things we didn't quite enjoy. First, our room had a very strong, persistent smell of "old" that would not go away regardless of us keeping the window open. The smell was so strong I can imagine someone with allergies would have not been able to stay there overnight. Maybe a refresh of the carpets or duvets would help. There was wifi available, but it didn't reach most of the areas (lounge, spa, etc) and there was no 4G signal either, which we didn't appreciate. One more thing was that the bar was not great, the coffee from the Nespresso machine in the room was better than the one served at the lounge, and there were no non-alcoholic cocktails/lemonades which wasn't very inclusive.
We liked the overall look and feel of the property. It had everything one might need - two restaurants, lounge area, spa, golf course and lots of gardens if you want to go for a walk. We wanted an authentic break away from the city and we got what we were looking for. The room was definitely on the bigger side and the bathroom had both a shower and a bath.

United KingdomDrinks and food was quite expensive and there could have been more choice at the Brasserie. Overall site felt like it was in decline and if not dealt with could seriously lose its charm and appeal. This was particularly seen in the gardens where there were broken steps, dying topiary and huge weeds growing everywhere. View out of window was essentially weeds growing everywhere. Signs to a rockery garden led us to an overgrown garden full of weeds, thistles and thorns and broken steps over stagnant water. It was a shame as it felt like the history of the site could be lost and no care taken at all for this aspect of the site. In addition the spa was very dated, small and over crowded - it didn’t feel that clean.
We loved the comfortable spacious room. There were extra amenities like large mugs for tea and good quality tea bags from Birchall. The mansion house was beautiful and having breakfast there was really special. The price for one night was really reasonable. Staff were friendly and food was nice quality.

United KingdomTo be honest the food was not great. We ate out a few times. Our room was nice, toilet was leaking a little, aircon was broken, had a great fan as replacement. I slept well, rooms could do with a little revamp.

United KingdomThe staff were quite slow to serve in both the lounge and brasserie, we weren’t impressed with the brasserie food at all. However the staff at breakfast weee great as was the food. We booked an upgrade to room as the photos showed patio doors but not what we got so wasn’t worth it. Room was perfectly comfortable but obviously not somewhere to stay if looking for modern/chic.
Really enjoyed the spa and the hotel is very grand, lovely gardens.
