Read more– opens a dialog boxEach review score is between 1–10. To get the overall score that you see, we add up all the review scores we’ve received and divide that total by the number of review scores we’ve received. We're currently testing a weighted review system in Malta and Iceland (excluding hotel and vacation rental chains). For properties in these countries, the more recent the review, the bigger the impact on the total review score calculation. In addition, guests can give separate "subscores" in crucial areas, such as location, cleanliness, staff, comfort, facilities, value for money, and free Wifi. Note that guests submit their subscores and their overall scores independently, so there’s no direct link between them.
You can review an accommodation that you booked through our platform if you stayed there, or if you got to the property but didn’t actually stay there. To edit a review you’ve already submitted, contact our Customer Service team.
We have people and automated systems that specialize in detecting fake reviews submitted to our platform. If we find any, we delete them and, if necessary, take action against whoever is responsible.
Anyone who spots something suspicious can always report it to our Customer Service team so that our fraud team can investigate.
Ideally, we'd publish every review we get, positive and negative. However, we won’t display any reviews that include or refer to (among other things):
To make sure reviews are relevant, we may only accept reviews that are submitted within 3 months of checking out. We may stop showing reviews once they’re 36 months old, or if the accommodation has a change of ownership.
An accommodation can reply to a review.
When you see multiple reviews, the most recent ones will be at the top, subject to a few other factors (e.g. language, whether it’s just a rating or contains comments as well, etc.). You can sort and/or filter them by time of year, review score, and more.
Sometimes we show external review scores from other well-known travel websites, but make it clear when we do this.
These guidelines and standards aim to keep the content on Booking.com relevant and family-friendly, without limiting expression or strong opinions. They're also applicable regardless of the comment's tone.
Contributions should be travel related. The most helpful contributions are detailed and help others make better decisions. Please don’t include personal, political, ethical, or religious commentary. Promotional content will be removed and issues concerning Booking.com’s services should be routed to our Customer Service or Accommodation Service teams.
Contributions should be appropriate for a global audience. Please avoid using profanity or attempts to approximate profanity with creative spelling, in any language. Comments and media that include hate speech, discriminatory remarks, threats, sexually explicit remarks, violence, or the promotion of illegal activity are not permitted.
All content should be genuine and unique to the guest. Reviews are most valuable when they are original and unbiased. Your contribution should be yours. Booking.com property partners should not post on behalf of guests or offer incentives in exchange for reviews. Attempts to bring down the rating of a competitor by submitting a negative review will not be tolerated.
Respect the privacy of others. Booking.com will make an effort to obscure email addresses, telephone numbers, website addresses, social media accounts, and other similar details.
The opinions expressed in contributions are those of Booking.com customers and properties, and not of Booking.com. Booking.com does not accept responsibility or liability for any reviews or responses. Booking.com is a distributor (without any obligation to verify) and not a publisher of these comments and responses.
By default, reviews are sorted based on the date of the review and on additional criteria to display the most relevant reviews, including but not limited to: your language, reviews with text, and non-anonymous reviews. Additional sorting options might be available (by type of traveler, by score, etc...).

United States of America3 miles from Bath and very economical, you will need a car- (or £15 Uber)just be ready for some tight turns up the hill and hedge enclosed narrow roads. Some erraticness with the water pressure (which can scald) and unwilling to reimburse for meals paid for in advance even with notice. Solid basic British food. No fridge in room.
Life goes o for this rambling old country house with good size rooms. You can get both breakfast and diner there. Delightful to just hang out in the the bar area on rainy winter nights.

United KingdomI had notified the hotel that one member of my group (there were only three of us) was vegetarian but there were no vegetarian meat substitutes on the breakfast buffet. The wall at the side of the handbasin in the bathroom was splashed with what could have been sick or even blood.
The staff were very friendly and the setting was amazing.

United KingdomThere was no shelving or vanity unit in the bathroom to put a wash bag on so had to put it on the floor. The hotel generally looked a little tired.
Lovely quiet location in beautiful countryside. Nice old country house homely feel. We paid a little bit extra for a superior room which was a good size with lovely traditional sash windows. Bed was comfortable.

United KingdomThe unclean bathroom was really bad as I have a partner that can not get ill due to medical issues. The mattress was to hard and the springs poked me resulting in hardly any sleep mixed with the hotel never sleeping and staff cleaning and having discussions outside our door from half 6 onwards banging and hoovers moving around. I understand it’s a hotel but this was not acceptable. Being in the business myself I do not make any noise on my site until 10am.
We had a nice room, unclean bathroom with toenails in bath and on floor. The man with glasses on the desk is a credit to the hotel

United KingdomThe bathrooms could be better. The shower head didn't stay up, and the taps were inconveniently straight under. The room was a bit dated and smelled like an old people's home. The parking in the evening was pot luck.

United KingdomNot enough space in the car park for all guests when hotel is full. I was boxed in on the first morning by another guest driving a van who had not parked in a designated bay. This could have been swiftly and apologetically sorted out by staff, but I was made to feel like I was being an annoyance by asking to be able to get myself to work on time. Really disappointing customer service. Breakfast was also a slightly disappointing offering for the money. No table service at all and no espresso coffee. Pleasant bar and lounge, but lacking in atmosphere somewhat. I also felt somewhat coerced into not having my room serviced (despite staying for three nights) being asked repeatedly until I felt compelled to change my answer. Having a room service is one of the things I expect when I pay the extra to stay in a hotel rather than an AirBnb or similar. Not a great trend which seems to be creeping into hotels in general.
Room was comfortable and everything in good working order. Hotel very quiet at night and a short drive into Bath. In a gorgeous area, but with some tricky roads to navigate!

We always enjoy our stay here we have been 3 or 4 times. It's always good to see all the staff. They are welcoming friendly and professional. The food is always good and the rooms are very nice and everywhere is kept very clean. I would highly recommend this hotel especially if you want a peaceful setting
