Each review score is between 1-10. To get the overall score that you see, we add up all the review scores we’ve received and divide that total by the number of review scores we’ve received. We are currently testing a weighted review system in Malta, Iceland, Australia, Greece, Brazil and North Carolina. For properties in these regions, the more recent the review, the bigger the impact on the total review score calculation. In addition, guests can give separate ‘subscores’ in crucial areas, such as location, cleanliness, staff, comfort, facilities, value for money and free Wi-Fi. Note that guests submit their subscores and their overall scores independently, so there’s no direct link between them.
You can review an Accommodation that you booked through our Platform if you stayed there or if you arrived at the property but didn’t actually stay there. To edit a review you’ve already submitted, please contact our Customer Service team.
We have people and automated systems that specialise in detecting fake reviews submitted to our Platform. If we find any, we delete them and, if necessary, take action against whoever is responsible.
Anyone else who spots something suspicious can always report it to our Customer Service team, so our Fraud team can investigate.
Ideally, we would publish every review we receive, whether positive or negative. However, we won’t display any review that includes or refers to (among other things):
To make sure reviews are relevant, we may only accept reviews that are submitted within 3 months of checking out, and we may stop showing reviews once they’re 36 months old – or if the Accommodation has a change of ownership.
An Accommodation may choose to reply to a review.
When you see multiple reviews, the most recent ones will be at the top, subject to a few other factors (what language a review is in, whether it’s just a rating or contains comments as well, etc.). If you like, you can sort and/or filter them (by time of year, review score, etc.).
We sometimes show external review scores from other well-known travel websites. We make it clear when we’ve done this.
These guidelines and standards aim to keep the content on Booking.com relevant and family-friendly without limiting expression of strong opinions. They are also applicable regardless of the sentiment of the comment.
Contributions should be travel related. The most helpful contributions are detailed and help others make better decisions. Please don’t include personal, political, ethical, or religious commentary. Promotional content will be removed and issues concerning Booking.com’s services should be routed to our Customer Service or Accommodation Service teams.
Contributions should be appropriate for a global audience. Please avoid using profanity or attempts to approximate profanity with creative spelling, in any language. Comments and media that include 'hate speech', discriminatory remarks, threats, sexually explicit remarks, violence, and the promotion of illegal activity are not permitted.
All content should be genuine and unique to the guest. Reviews are most valuable when they are original and unbiased. Your contribution should be yours. Booking.com property partners should not post on behalf of guests or offer incentives in exchange for reviews. Attempts to bring down the rating of a competitor by submitting a negative review will not be tolerated.
Respect the privacy of others. Booking.com will make an effort to obscure email addresses, telephone numbers, website addresses, social media accounts, and similar details.
The opinions expressed in contributions are those of Booking.com customers and properties and not of Booking.com. Booking.com does not accept responsibility or liability for any reviews or responses. Booking.com is a distributor (without any obligation to verify) and not a publisher of these comments and responses.
By default, reviews are sorted based on the date of the review and on additional criteria to display the most relevant reviews, including but not limited to: your language, reviews with text, and non-anonymous reviews. Additional sorting options may be available (by type of traveller, by score, etc.).

United KingdomA little further out of town than I thought and yes I use Google maps but Lewes is SO hilly that 1.1 miles took me 40 minutes to walk. But there are buses on the main road, 5 minutes walk away.
What a lovely warm, welcoming place. A real home from home. A log burner for the winter and a private patio/small garden for the summer. Julie has thought of everything! A truly peaceful location & a super comfy bed. Would definitely stay again.

United KingdomThe bed is on a platform so you get in and out from its foot. The toilet is quite a way from the bedroom but automatic lighting guides the way. Neither was a big inconvenience.
The house is just a minute or two's walk to a bus stop to Lewes town center. A quality breakfast basket was supplied with muesli, croissants, preserves, tea and coffee with milk and bottled water. The lounge overlooks the patio garden, has a wood burning stove and a luxurious sofa. The kitchen is well equipped for self catering but we only stayed one night.

United KingdomFabulous place, we wrote in the guest book that it was like having a little piece of home with us. Whilst we never met our host the communication felt like we did, it was so good. Made us feel special. Lovely considerate touches more than we expected and a brilliant stay.

United KingdomA nice place to stay over in Lewes. Our host was flexible about arrival time and very accommodating. A nice set of breakfast supplies were left for us to use which worked very well. Flat was interesting in its layout, but very appropriate for a couple.

United KingdomPossible the velux windows in the bedroom could have done with shades, as the light did wake me quite early in the morning. But it didn't bother me too much as I had to get up early anyway, and no-one could see in. The bed being on a platform was fine for me, but could cause someone with mobility issues a wee bit of difficulty.
Spacious flat with everything you need for self catering. Very comfortable, and Julie the owner was friendly and helpful. I wouldn't have found the 'secret' room, ie the living room and toilet/shower room with being shown... but was very pleased with everything after the discovery!

Julie is a fantastic host, so flexible, understanding and accommodating. My friend was being delayed and due to arrive very late in the evening so Julie made sure that he could get in the property late at night without any issue. She replied to all my emails swiftly. The flat was impeccable and in a great location.

United KingdomThrough unforeseen circumstances we arrived very late. The street was dark and we didn't see a house number on the house. By a process of elimination we worked out which house it was and then all was well. The house turned out to be called The House on the Hill - something I had either overlooked on the website or not been informed of.
Peaceful, nicely furnished and very well equipped including breakfast ingredients, which was unexpected

United KingdomWe would have appreciated blinds on all of the windows in the bedroom ceiling as it let light in very early. We would also have liked more of a breakfast selection, I personally don’t like cereal and it wasn’t clear this was breakfast. Even just a little croissant and jam that we could cook ourselves would have been a nice touch.
We loved the features of this apartment, it felt very private and had lovely finishing touches like LED sensor lights in a few of the rooms. We loved the bath feature in the bedroom and the secret door! we also loved the cosy fireplace! It was a shame we couldn’t use it but clearly a previous guest has burnt the carpet. We liked that Brighton was 20 mins drive away so we spent our days there enjoying the coast.
