Each review score is between 1-10. To get the overall score that you see, we add up all the review scores we’ve received and divide that total by the number of review scores we’ve received. We are currently testing a weighted review system in Malta, Iceland, Australia, Greece, Brazil and North Carolina. For properties in these regions, the more recent the review, the bigger the impact on the total review score calculation. In addition, guests can give separate ‘subscores’ in crucial areas, such as location, cleanliness, staff, comfort, facilities, value for money and free Wi-Fi. Note that guests submit their subscores and their overall scores independently, so there’s no direct link between them.
You can review an Accommodation that you booked through our Platform if you stayed there or if you arrived at the property but didn’t actually stay there. To edit a review you’ve already submitted, please contact our Customer Service team.
We have people and automated systems that specialise in detecting fake reviews submitted to our Platform. If we find any, we delete them and, if necessary, take action against whoever is responsible.
Anyone else who spots something suspicious can always report it to our Customer Service team, so our Fraud team can investigate.
Ideally, we would publish every review we receive, whether positive or negative. However, we won’t display any review that includes or refers to (among other things):
To make sure reviews are relevant, we may only accept reviews that are submitted within 3 months of checking out, and we may stop showing reviews once they’re 36 months old – or if the Accommodation has a change of ownership.
An Accommodation may choose to reply to a review.
When you see multiple reviews, the most recent ones will be at the top, subject to a few other factors (what language a review is in, whether it’s just a rating or contains comments as well, etc.). If you like, you can sort and/or filter them (by time of year, review score, etc.).
We sometimes show external review scores from other well-known travel websites. We make it clear when we’ve done this.
These guidelines and standards aim to keep the content on Booking.com relevant and family-friendly without limiting expression of strong opinions. They are also applicable regardless of the sentiment of the comment.
Contributions should be travel related. The most helpful contributions are detailed and help others make better decisions. Please don’t include personal, political, ethical, or religious commentary. Promotional content will be removed and issues concerning Booking.com’s services should be routed to our Customer Service or Accommodation Service teams.
Contributions should be appropriate for a global audience. Please avoid using profanity or attempts to approximate profanity with creative spelling, in any language. Comments and media that include 'hate speech', discriminatory remarks, threats, sexually explicit remarks, violence, and the promotion of illegal activity are not permitted.
All content should be genuine and unique to the guest. Reviews are most valuable when they are original and unbiased. Your contribution should be yours. Booking.com property partners should not post on behalf of guests or offer incentives in exchange for reviews. Attempts to bring down the rating of a competitor by submitting a negative review will not be tolerated.
Respect the privacy of others. Booking.com will make an effort to obscure email addresses, telephone numbers, website addresses, social media accounts, and similar details.
The opinions expressed in contributions are those of Booking.com customers and properties and not of Booking.com. Booking.com does not accept responsibility or liability for any reviews or responses. Booking.com is a distributor (without any obligation to verify) and not a publisher of these comments and responses.
By default, reviews are sorted based on the date of the review and on additional criteria to display the most relevant reviews, including but not limited to: your language, reviews with text, and non-anonymous reviews. Additional sorting options may be available (by type of traveller, by score, etc.).

NetherlandsBreakfast is not at the country house but at the pub down the road. It's okay, but not great quality. I would recommend skipping breakfast, having it at another place.
The owners were not there on arrival, we could just take the key and find the room. The room was really nice, with a great view. We enjoyed the stay.

The property was very charming, it was tastefully decorated and in fitting with the local area. Our room was the Fellside with lovely views of the garden and fells there were 2 of us… not sharing a bed so needed the sofa bed which we struggled to get up, tell the owners if you will be using these beforehand, this was immediately dealt with and nothing seemed too much trouble. Dogs are allowed in all areas which made it for me a home from home . There was a lovely entrance - general seating area where you can make a drink and sit and read a book or just admire the scenery and a lovely garden to enjoy… weather permitting. The house had plenty of books and maps of the area and things to do on a wet day … of which there are many… the house provides blankets, walking sticks and sturdy umbrellas to borrow for all such occasions and weather conditions. The house used locally produced toiletries that smelt great and were eco friendly. There is also a new Sauna suite which was next to our room great ! with a shower and toilet this did the trick on those wet days by loosening and warming those tired cold knots and joints. The owners were friendly, welcoming and informative about the local area and wildlife, we didn’t see the resident badgers but we heard other guests talking about spotting them at dusk.

United KingdomA few days after the stay I've noticed a bunch of bed bug bites which are a bit itchy, I've thoroughly checked my own bed for signs and found none and haven't had them before at home, and haven't slept anywhere else other than Lake View and home so I would recommend a check of the single beds in the 2nd bedroom. That's the only possible criticism though, we had a lovely stay.
Location was lovely, just a short stay but everything was great for us.

United KingdomI thought I had booked to include breakfast, but realised I must have made a mistake when booking, so on finding the breakfast was not included it seemed more expensive than I anticipated. It was a wet and cool September night when we arrived, it would have been more comfortable if the heating had been on.
Location very pleasant and property very welcoming with a well sited large conservatory with games and local maps and guides and a grandstand view of visiting badgers.

United Kingdom10/10. This is one of the best, if not the best, places we stayed in the UK. Owners and staff are very friendly, we arrived little earlier than expected and we're allowed to check in early. This is a boutique hotel in very quiet location just a minut walk from the main road thorough the village and few minutes from the lake. Our room, Treetop, was the only one available at the time of booking and was exceptionally good. Nice decent size, very clean and beautifully decorated with exposed timber and bricks. Lovely large bathroom, comfy large bed, selection of coffees, teas and even hot chocolate. The place is dog friendly and do not charge extra for their stay which is absolutely brilliant. Prices are very reasonable and we got 10% discount at their sister business, Good Sport Bar, which is couple of minutes walk from the house and serves great food and nice selection of drinks. We loved our stay and will definitely be back. I truly recommend Lake View Country House.

The Cottage was a pleasant apartment withn a historic house. It had all the facilities we needed incuding good wifi. There were 3 TVs (overkill) but the main one did not work ao well, so we used a bedroom one instead. The breakfast was provided in a pub/bar about 100 metres away.
