Each review score is between 1-10. To get the overall score that you see, we add up all the review scores we’ve received and divide that total by the number of review scores we’ve received. We are currently testing a weighted review system in Malta and Iceland (excluding hotel and vacation rental chains). For properties in these countries, the more recent the review, the bigger the impact on the total review score calculation. In addition, guests can give separate ‘subscores’ in crucial areas, such as location, cleanliness, staff, comfort, facilities, value for money and free Wi-Fi. Note that guests submit their subscores and their overall scores independently, so there’s no direct link between them.
You can review an Accommodation that you booked through our Platform if you stayed there or if you arrived at the property but didn’t actually stay there. To edit a review you’ve already submitted, please contact our Customer Service team.
We have people and automated systems that specialise in detecting fake reviews submitted to our Platform. If we find any, we delete them and, if necessary, take action against whoever is responsible.
Anyone else who spots something suspicious can always report it to our Customer Service team, so our Fraud team can investigate.
Ideally, we would publish every review we receive, whether positive or negative. However, we won’t display any review that includes or refers to (among other things):
To make sure reviews are relevant, we may only accept reviews that are submitted within 3 months of checking out, and we may stop showing reviews once they’re 36 months old – or if the Accommodation has a change of ownership.
An Accommodation may choose to reply to a review.
When you see multiple reviews, the most recent ones will be at the top, subject to a few other factors (what language a review is in, whether it’s just a rating or contains comments as well, etc.). If you like, you can sort and/or filter them (by time of year, review score, etc.).
We sometimes show external review scores from other well-known travel websites. We make it clear when we’ve done this.
These guidelines and standards aim to keep the content on Booking.com relevant and family-friendly without limiting expression of strong opinions. They are also applicable regardless of the sentiment of the comment.
Contributions should be travel related. The most helpful contributions are detailed and help others make better decisions. Please don’t include personal, political, ethical, or religious commentary. Promotional content will be removed and issues concerning Booking.com’s services should be routed to our Customer Service or Accommodation Service teams.
Contributions should be appropriate for a global audience. Please avoid using profanity or attempts to approximate profanity with creative spelling, in any language. Comments and media that include 'hate speech', discriminatory remarks, threats, sexually explicit remarks, violence, and the promotion of illegal activity are not permitted.
All content should be genuine and unique to the guest. Reviews are most valuable when they are original and unbiased. Your contribution should be yours. Booking.com property partners should not post on behalf of guests or offer incentives in exchange for reviews. Attempts to bring down the rating of a competitor by submitting a negative review will not be tolerated.
Respect the privacy of others. Booking.com will make an effort to obscure email addresses, telephone numbers, website addresses, social media accounts, and similar details.
The opinions expressed in contributions are those of Booking.com customers and properties and not of Booking.com. Booking.com does not accept responsibility or liability for any reviews or responses. Booking.com is a distributor (without any obligation to verify) and not a publisher of these comments and responses.
By default, reviews are sorted based on the date of the review and on additional criteria to display the most relevant reviews, including but not limited to: your language, reviews with text, and non-anonymous reviews. Additional sorting options may be available (by type of traveller, by score, etc.).

United KingdomOnly issue was their was not any space in restaurant for children and we were travelling with two so could not go without same. There was another family and when advised of same went and collected KFC. Just saying if you wang families to stay please cater for them as the cost to stay at about £800 for one night shows there is a market, if it did not show that you entertained children we would not have stayed.
Beautiful lookout from hotel but not really from room unfortunately. Breakfast was not as good as I expected although my children and wife enjoyed their own. Perhaps that is just a taste aspect but 3 out of 4 is a positive.

United Kingdomfollowing day, the staff at breakfast looked like they didn't want to be there. We had to look for staff to be seated, we then have to ask for more glasses then juice (as it wasn't topped up) had to ask to take our breakfast order, waited good 30 min just for pot of tea to be served and even that we had to remind them about, never mind breakfast. Toast was brought out randomly about 15 minutes before cooked breakfast after specifically requesting the toast to be brought out with the cooked breakfast. overall it felt like 3 star hotel on that morning
location nice setting and first day the staff at beakfast and dinner were excellent. in particular Lewis and Ben

United KingdomWe chose this hotel for a relaxing rural night away. All went very well until having an afternoon snack and a glass of wine at approx 2pm. One of the groundsmen started to mow an area of scrubland near the main manicured lawn. It was very noisy and intrusive. I asked the waitress to ask if if it could be done another time as it was spoiling our time and not very relaxing. She checked with the manager who sent her back to our table and said they would finish that (rather large area) bit and they would stop. Not a good enough response and we ended up leaving the garden area. Disappointing that management is happier to have a customer leave their drink than manage their landscaping at a time when the garden is not full of customers. In a sentiment market, management should be rather more considerate of their customers requests.
Idyllic rural location, fabulous grounds, excellent food and well priced.

United KingdomVery understaffed which affected the seevuce a lot. Waiting quite a long time before anyone was at the check in desk. Breakfast service was very poor - not enough staff and a lot of uncleared tables, staff unavailable to take your order etc. The breakfast buffet has run out of list things - fruit, yogurt, pastries etc and it was very hard to find a staff member to replenish it. M cooked breakfast very underwhelming. Suggest some landscaping / garden beds or pits arojnd terrace - it’s a lively situation / view but feels neglected .

United KingdomThe tennis court they advertise is not in use. The falconry they put on their website is closed. They also market a TV in the bathroom with a bubble bath and ours wasn't working well. We just felt like every activity we chose the hotel for wasn't possible once there.
Very nice hotel to stay and disconnect. The rooms, the restaurants and the park are similar to the pictures. The restaurant is good.

United KingdomAll great!
I have used this hotel when on business in the area, and always am enchanted by the beautiful historical house, elegant reception and bedrooms, lovely food and service, and quiet country location. The hotel provides the perfect calm and tranquil respite, to facilitate decision making in scenarios of the most complex, difficult and demanding nature. This time I indulged my lady on holiday and experienced the true relaxed feel of the hotel. Stayed in a “plush” room in the eves and was wowed by the level of facilities, attention to detail, kind, understanding and attentive staff, all within a house steeped in history. Cuisine second to none, and often exceeds many other very famous hostelries. Try the afternoon tea and you will be delighted by the precision of presentation and flavour. The hotel has emerged at an even better level than it was pre pandemic and with a new determination to excel. A great place for both the business and holiday traveller, and which provides great memories. As always, a memorable experience!

United KingdomAll Great!
The very quiet country location. (A deer crossed the road on my final approach to the hotel). The calm elegance of the main house, reception, reception rooms, bar and various restaurants. The great staff! The sophisticated and varied themed rooms! Experience the six jet shower in Fuschia! The choice of excellent dining experiences in the various restaurants. (The new Wellhouse is marvellous!) The excellent breakfasts, catch the rhubarb compote with Greek yoghurt, and eggs Benedict, which will carry you through until teatime! Events such as the cinema under the stars on summer nights on the terrace! An excellent location for the holiday and business traveller! A place to spoil your lady!
