Each review score is between 1-10. To get the overall score that you see, we add up all the review scores we’ve received and divide that total by the number of review scores we’ve received. We are currently testing a weighted review system in Malta and Iceland (excluding hotel and vacation rental chains). For properties in these countries, the more recent the review, the bigger the impact on the total review score calculation. In addition, guests can give separate ‘subscores’ in crucial areas, such as location, cleanliness, staff, comfort, facilities, value for money and free Wi-Fi. Note that guests submit their subscores and their overall scores independently, so there’s no direct link between them.
You can review an Accommodation that you booked through our Platform if you stayed there or if you arrived at the property but didn’t actually stay there. To edit a review you’ve already submitted, please contact our Customer Service team.
We have people and automated systems that specialise in detecting fake reviews submitted to our Platform. If we find any, we delete them and, if necessary, take action against whoever is responsible.
Anyone else who spots something suspicious can always report it to our Customer Service team, so our Fraud team can investigate.
Ideally, we would publish every review we receive, whether positive or negative. However, we won’t display any review that includes or refers to (among other things):
To make sure reviews are relevant, we may only accept reviews that are submitted within 3 months of checking out, and we may stop showing reviews once they’re 36 months old – or if the Accommodation has a change of ownership.
An Accommodation may choose to reply to a review.
When you see multiple reviews, the most recent ones will be at the top, subject to a few other factors (what language a review is in, whether it’s just a rating or contains comments as well, etc.). If you like, you can sort and/or filter them (by time of year, review score, etc.).
We sometimes show external review scores from other well-known travel websites. We make it clear when we’ve done this.
These guidelines and standards aim to keep the content on Booking.com relevant and family-friendly without limiting expression of strong opinions. They are also applicable regardless of the sentiment of the comment.
Contributions should be travel related. The most helpful contributions are detailed and help others make better decisions. Please don’t include personal, political, ethical, or religious commentary. Promotional content will be removed and issues concerning Booking.com’s services should be routed to our Customer Service or Accommodation Service teams.
Contributions should be appropriate for a global audience. Please avoid using profanity or attempts to approximate profanity with creative spelling, in any language. Comments and media that include 'hate speech', discriminatory remarks, threats, sexually explicit remarks, violence, and the promotion of illegal activity are not permitted.
All content should be genuine and unique to the guest. Reviews are most valuable when they are original and unbiased. Your contribution should be yours. Booking.com property partners should not post on behalf of guests or offer incentives in exchange for reviews. Attempts to bring down the rating of a competitor by submitting a negative review will not be tolerated.
Respect the privacy of others. Booking.com will make an effort to obscure email addresses, telephone numbers, website addresses, social media accounts, and similar details.
The opinions expressed in contributions are those of Booking.com customers and properties and not of Booking.com. Booking.com does not accept responsibility or liability for any reviews or responses. Booking.com is a distributor (without any obligation to verify) and not a publisher of these comments and responses.
By default, reviews are sorted based on the date of the review and on additional criteria to display the most relevant reviews, including but not limited to: your language, reviews with text, and non-anonymous reviews. Additional sorting options may be available (by type of traveller, by score, etc.).

United KingdomThe slope down to the property is a little steep so if you go on a big hike while on your trip then it’s quite hard work going up and down!!
It was comfortable and bright. The kitchen was well kitted enough to have a ready meal curry one night and oven pizza another as well as cooking breakfasts. A breakfast bar was a nice touch so we could have sit down meals rather than only sofa. Also a table outside. Walking distance from town and the castle. Air conditioning unit (which I believe is a heater in winter) was effective but you’ve also got lots of windows and a big door for when the big skylights heat up the room like a greenhouse because we forgot to close the blinds!

United KingdomI did struggle with the WiFi connection at times, but to be fair to the hosts. I didn’t mention it to them and if I had they may have been able to do something about it.
Clean, tidy with every facility one could need. Host very welcoming and lots of extra touches.

United KingdomMaybe there would be room or improvement to install a small oven in the future but this really wasn’t an issue!
It was a lovely little place to call ‘home’ whilst we explored parts of the lake district. It was super clean and lovely to come back too after a long walk or day out!

United KingdomI liked it all! I was nervous about going out to watch a movie at the Brewery Arts but was conscious as to what was considered too late, given there’s a Ring doorbell on the front door which you pass to come into the property. I could have asked though - my bad! Otherwise loved it.
Wow. It’s seldom often the property outdoes or even resembles the images. This place is stunningly designed; every detail well thought out. To the point I thought (if I could live here, I would!)

United KingdomThe unit is compact - we're used to staying places with just a couple of small bags, but there's not a lot of space left for storage if you were to turn up with loads of stuff. We did end up keeping our box of food and most of our stuff in our bags on the floor. There's no room either side of the bed, as you can see from the photos on the listing, so you have to clamber onto it, but this was fine for us. We acquired the technique for closing the ceiling blinds with the pole after a few failed attempts.
Compact unit at the bottom of the garden of a semi-detached house in an estate, an easy walk to the centre of Buxton, and to the Brewery Arts which was the main reason we were there. Parking on driveway. Clear instructions for how to locate and get into the property, plenty of lights down the garden to help you get there at night (we arrived late), good information folder inside. Compact, but everything we needed was there, it's been incredibly well thought out, and constructed and furnished to a very high standard. Light switches, sockets and USB charging points all in the places where you want them, it's all been thought through carefully. Clear panels in ceiling with blinds to close at night. And immaculately clean. It was quiet at night. We were there on a ridiculously chilly late-April weekend, but the unit was lovely and warm when we entered, and the heater / aircon is easily adjustable. The chilly weather meant we didn't get to use the outdoor space though, it would be nice to sit out in warmer weather, and this would give you more space. There are walks from Buxton, we did a lovely 10 mile circuit, and didn't use our car during our short stay.

United KingdomThe shower pressure was poor A mirror in the lounge area would be beneficial Steep access down to the lodge, but was very well lit, just not for anyone with mobility issues
The lodge was so peaceful and comfortable. I really loved the roof windows which made it so light and welcoming and you can watch the moon and stars on a clear night and birds flying over in the daytime. Lovely toiletries supplied in the bathroom and lovely fluffy towels. Well equipped kitchen with some little welcome treats. TV is on a wall bracket which enables you to watch TV in bed or on the comfortable sofa. A really well designed lodge with good quality fittings.

The location is perfect as it's a short walk into Kendal town centre, which is very handy because parking in Kendal is a challenge! The lodge was spotlessly clean, warm, cosy and surprisingly well equipped for a small space.
