Everything was perfect, comfy beds, quiet room, fan to cool down the room, choice of hot drinks, bathrobes, fridge, water and glasses, everything we needed. Breakfast was exceptional. Will definitely recommend this hotel to friends and will return

Can be noisy due to beer garden, delivery vans and dustbin collections, but would stay here again.

The evening meal we had was lovely but there were only 6 chips ,which as tasty as they were, was a little disappointing.

The room I booked was very accessible for myself and my disabled daughter. The staff were very welcoming and helpful . A lovely little boutique hotel in a very good location.

Lovely staff. Fabulous location. Beautiful rooms and lovely breakfast (although for those with decreasing eye sight the print on the breakfast could be bigger 😂). Ive stayed in a number of well known, more expensive hotels in York and I thought Judges outclassed them all. I will definitely be back.

We were given a complimentary upgrade to the two best rooms in the hotel, the two original judges' lodging rooms. Quite stunning rooms.

Our room was in the courtyard right outside the pub, so the blinds had to stay closed unless we wanted the table outside to see in. When we checked in I thought it was going to be a problem with the noise at bedtime, but it actually wasn't, they must have stopped seating people there in the evening. It wasn't a concern for us at all, just something to be mindful of.

Newly renovated room, perfect location in York. Very clean and comfortable. The restaurant/pub was very popular so reservations need to be made in advance.

Only one thing: breakfast on each of the days felt very rushed as though they couldn’t wait for us to go. The area in the cellar bar is rather cramped - (no objections to that) but two people need a table for four as there is nowhere to put the multiple plates etc.-so very efficient that my cooked breakfast arrived while I was still eating a bowl of fruit which I lifted up and could not then put down. The waitress whose first language was not English asked me what I wanted her to do about it, ‘my dear?’ She certainly did not mean any offence, so it was quite funny. Evening meals were never like that - staff were very good, as is the food. It sounds simplistic, but small breakfast plates could help?

Location is superb - very friendly and accessible for elderly ladies. We chose the right rooms as we had stayed there before, The management staff are very good indeed.

The rooms at the front of the building can be a little bit noisy being in the centre of town, especially on a Friday night. Not a problem for us but could be for some people.

Beautiful building and lovely, clean, spacious room. We had a lovely, large ensuite. The staff were very friendly and helpful. Breakfast was lovely and I was able to have a gluten free cooked breakfast. The chef was careful to cook and prepare gluten free foods in a way to avoid contamination and was knowledgabe about dietry requirements.

Shower was difficult to stop getting the bathroom wet. Sink bowl too far away
