The main light in room didn't work, both bedside lamps worked off one combined switch Electrics and cosmetics of room require updating

The hotel is in need of a refurb, the carpet on common stair was threadbare in parts, stains on bedroom carpet. Shower not very powerful plus still using shower curtains. Appreciate it us an old building but it would look so much better with refurbishment of bedrooms in particular.

Building and setting is lovely. Staff were very welcoming and helpful.

No telephone in rooms, no air con. Too many stairs with no lift.very little storage space. Sound proofing in bedrooms poor. Evening meals just acceptable but only just. Would have eaten out after first night but I was travelling alone. Nit picking perhaps but grouting around bath desperately needs clean up or replacement and rooms do need updating.

Breakfast very good. Staff excellent and very helpful nothing too much trouble. Location good. Nice little garden area at rear. Bed very comfortable.

Room was way too small for two. Nowhere to pull out suitcases had use floor. Far from standard I might expect from Mercure. Fixtures could use updating there is mold growing inside tap. Toliet paper falls off the holder and goes behind toilet constantly. Closet appears to be broken no shelves to put things. Moved into another room byanager and was much better,unfortunately the noise from upstairs kept me up till at least 2 in the morning.

Breakfast was very good. Location is good, walking into town convenient. Charming building but squeaky.

Felt that the tiles around the bath and shower could have been cleaner and needed to be re grouted.

It was comfortable and well located. Staff were friendly and the restaurant was reasonably priced and had a good menu. Old and very quirky with a waterwheel in reception.

Pillows were rock hard so spoiled sleep. Everyone in our party 4 rooms felt the same way.

The room and furniture was very dated and not as clean it could have been but nothing bad enough to complain about, no lift to the rooms so definitely consider this if you have mobility issues and ask for a lower level room. The price was high for the quality but maybe because of the events on that weekend.

The staff were great so helpful and friendly, the location is great as is the free parking, and the WiFi connection was good from our room. Ate in the restaurant when we arrived which was ok, didn’t add breakfast to our stay due to the central location and cheaper options available easily.

The rooms felt quite old. The car parking was difficult with both the main and overflow carpark full most of the time.

The staff were exceptional. The location was in a convenient location. Breakfast was excellent.

Bar area should supply various choices of sandwiches and light snacks. The bar area and outside garden area needed more tables/chairs. Also car parking overflow area did not look a secure area even though it had a camera. The decor and furniture in the room could do with updating.

Location was good for both buses and rail. Couldn't fault the breakfast choices, good variety and cooked items lovely and fresh. Diana on the bar was always smiling, cheerful and very helpful, and is an asset to the hotel as were the reception/breakfast staff.
