Fantastic night away - welcome drink on arrival and free pantry along with the tennis court and spa and lovely food at Yu restaurant all made our stay so enjoyable that we are making it an annual event

It felt very inviting from the very start. The room was lovely and the spa and outdoor pool area were just what we needed for a relaxing stay. The attention to detail and the free pantry is a brilliant and welcoming extra.

This isn't really a negative, but please sell the Kings Ginger in the wine shop.

We had a lovely room with a very comfortable bed and hotel facilities were very good, including the grounds, little spa, outside swimming pool, which had a fantastic view, and the glass of wine on arrival at reception was lovely touch which made us feel very welcome and relaxed. Also the food in the evening was excellent, as was the lounge area for an after dinner nightcap.

The room was comfortable, clean and very well furnished. Loved the free refreshment area. Spa area was great too - clean and well kept. Lovely outdoor pool area.

Signage from the Bath Road is very poor and doesn't sell the property. Staff in restaurant very inexperienced.

A beautiful refurb of a gorgeous building. Lovely comfortable beds with well appointed rooms and common areas.

I appreciate that it’s coming towards the end of the season but the pool was looking a bit uncared for and in need of a good clean. The room service menu was a bit sparse .. and a little overpriced.

The property has even refurbished to a high standard and competes favourably with similar establishments in the area

Nothing!

In a secluded location, the hotel had a choice of restaurants and very good leisure facilities. The food was really delicious and the staff were very professional and helpful. I loved the room and the larder where guests could help themselves to drinks and cookies!

Overheated rooms and extensive allocated child times around the pool which made it noisy

I had an amazing stay and would return, but the food was just average. Pasta dish was tasteless and wasn’t cheap. Olives were hard.

Although we had a very quiet room we were woken early by housekeeping in their adjacent staff room

Lovely old building and grounds with lovely decor and excellent facilities and the extra touches i.e a little ‘help yourself’ pantry on each corridor great food and service in both restaurants

Didn't appreciate the wait in 1772 and the orangery. You felt as if the staff had forgotten about you. It took an age for our afternoon tea to appear; over 30 minutes and at lunch on Sunday after our initial welcome it took 3 staff coming to the table just to get our ordered bottle of water before we managed to get anyone to take our order. Our drinks order seemed to sit at the bar neglected for at least 10mins! The Spa was wonderful although there was a vast difference to the helpfulness and proactivness of the reception staff on the Sat and Sunday; much more helpful on Sunday. The drinks were overpriced!!

Loved tge hotel and tge grounds. The house was beautiful. We had an amazing meal in Yu and enjoyed the Spa facilities, our treatments were amazing. Thought the drink on arrival was a lovely thought. Very clean and vibrant hotel.

Really good all round. Getaway defined. Amazing facilities, wines and food. The staff were outstanding - we would call out Maria at reception, and Ben in the restaurant area for top-class service but frankly ALL staff were so welcoming and made sure our stay was special

Overall great but rooms too sparse/cold - need more (good quality) furniture/soft furnishings to make them nice and cosy. Thick Curtains would be a real plus. Poor quality books on bedside table (looked liked they’d been purchased from a 1980’s car boot sale) need to be replaced - really cheapen the feel of the room. Taps in bathroom loose (room 32). Shower far too high for me (I’m 5 foot 4), water pressure not great and water not hot enough. Cleaner walked in on me at 10:20 just before check-out when I was naked! :) not sure other guests would see funny side…
