Each review score is between 1-10. To get the overall score that you see, we add up all the review scores we’ve received and divide that total by the number of review scores we’ve received. We are currently testing a weighted review system in Malta and Iceland (excluding hotel and vacation rental chains). For properties in these countries, the more recent the review, the bigger the impact on the total review score calculation. In addition, guests can give separate ‘subscores’ in crucial areas, such as location, cleanliness, staff, comfort, facilities, value for money and free Wi-Fi. Note that guests submit their subscores and their overall scores independently, so there’s no direct link between them.
You can review an Accommodation that you booked through our Platform if you stayed there or if you arrived at the property but didn’t actually stay there. To edit a review you’ve already submitted, please contact our Customer Service team.
We have people and automated systems that specialise in detecting fake reviews submitted to our Platform. If we find any, we delete them and, if necessary, take action against whoever is responsible.
Anyone else who spots something suspicious can always report it to our Customer Service team, so our Fraud team can investigate.
Ideally, we would publish every review we receive, whether positive or negative. However, we won’t display any review that includes or refers to (among other things):
To make sure reviews are relevant, we may only accept reviews that are submitted within 3 months of checking out, and we may stop showing reviews once they’re 36 months old – or if the Accommodation has a change of ownership.
An Accommodation may choose to reply to a review.
When you see multiple reviews, the most recent ones will be at the top, subject to a few other factors (what language a review is in, whether it’s just a rating or contains comments as well, etc.). If you like, you can sort and/or filter them (by time of year, review score, etc.).
We sometimes show external review scores from other well-known travel websites. We make it clear when we’ve done this.
These guidelines and standards aim to keep the content on Booking.com relevant and family-friendly without limiting expression of strong opinions. They are also applicable regardless of the sentiment of the comment.
Contributions should be travel related. The most helpful contributions are detailed and help others make better decisions. Please don’t include personal, political, ethical, or religious commentary. Promotional content will be removed and issues concerning Booking.com’s services should be routed to our Customer Service or Accommodation Service teams.
Contributions should be appropriate for a global audience. Please avoid using profanity or attempts to approximate profanity with creative spelling, in any language. Comments and media that include 'hate speech', discriminatory remarks, threats, sexually explicit remarks, violence, and the promotion of illegal activity are not permitted.
All content should be genuine and unique to the guest. Reviews are most valuable when they are original and unbiased. Your contribution should be yours. Booking.com property partners should not post on behalf of guests or offer incentives in exchange for reviews. Attempts to bring down the rating of a competitor by submitting a negative review will not be tolerated.
Respect the privacy of others. Booking.com will make an effort to obscure email addresses, telephone numbers, website addresses, social media accounts, and similar details.
The opinions expressed in contributions are those of Booking.com customers and properties and not of Booking.com. Booking.com does not accept responsibility or liability for any reviews or responses. Booking.com is a distributor (without any obligation to verify) and not a publisher of these comments and responses.
By default, reviews are sorted based on the date of the review and on additional criteria to display the most relevant reviews, including but not limited to: your language, reviews with text, and non-anonymous reviews. Additional sorting options may be available (by type of traveller, by score, etc.).

AustraliaWhen we first arrived the person that welcomed us made us feel very uncomfortable like we were a bother! We felt that because we were staying in the garden suite and not actually within the main hotel itself we were less important!
The property is beautifully decorated and has a lot of history. We had the Michelin Dinner which was superb. Most of the staff were very nice.

United StatesThe weather was beautiful with sun and warmer days and our first floor room was warm at night because window faced the parking lot and back door facing the garden. Impossible to have air flow and privacy. Not an issue if it was cooler.
We stayed in a walled garden room and it was amazing. Perfect balance of castle exterior with completely updated interior. View was great and the bathroom was large with walk in shower, and tub. Charles our clay pigeon shooting instructor was top notch. Same for the wildlife tour.

GermanyOverpriced. The Michel Roux Jr. Seasgair restaurant is definitely overrated - not to mention the anoying cancellation policy (48 hours! - then full price!) - and you shouldn't go to eat there hungry (tiny portions!). Most ridiculous: time slots reservation for breakfast is required! (as I would like to fix the day before when to have breakfast!? - on my vacation!!!). All in all: Way overpriced, way to expensive compared to other castle hotels. And more over: 5 Star? (whats the difference to other 4 Star Castles? Couldn't find one (but the price).)
Charming old castle (but in order to justify the price it could do with a bit of a makeover here and there - see pictures of the roof in my room), beautifully situated in a park close to Ben Nevis (but you can definitely hear the nearby road)

United KingdomExclusivity comes at a price. Best hotel stay we’ve had. Spoiled from beginning to end. The Seasgair restaurant experience was also amazing.
The service, attention to detail and setting. The junior walled garden suites were fantastic. Our own personal view of Ben Nevis. Not overlooked. Private and quiet. Relaxed setting.

United KingdomTo stand about from other hotels in the same category, cleaning can be improved, maybe pay more attention to details.
Food is amazing, staff is very helpful, settings are beautiful. The hotel names their rooms after their long term serving staff which is really sweet thing to do.

The setting is stunning, the service was exceptional, my suite was very comfortable and the atmosphere in the public rooms warm and friendly so it was easy to strike up conversation if you wished to. The food is amazing. I recommend the dining room. It is beautifully styled as a hotel and I would strongly recommend it over Glencoe House Hotel. The location is great for walking. I came to walk and did some fabulous trailed paths in between Christmas and New Year- including Ben Nevis.

FranceThe hotel is not very well suites for families with babies or toddlers in my opinion, because there isn't much flexibility regarding dining options and dîner time (the only real dining option is formal and not adapted for young kids). The room service is not available to the rooms located in front of the walled garden.
The location is unique, with breathtaking views of the mountains and the countryside. The castle itself is beautiful and remained very authentic, the gardens and the woods allow for very pleasant walks. It's the perfect place to disconnect.

United KingdomThis is a tough question and I’m really nit picking here. One of the drawers in our room had a handle missing and we couldn’t really get the technology working but that didn’t detract one bit from the experience.
The location was absolutely amazing in every way and the castle reflected the beauty of its surroundings! The food was exquisite from start to finish with the signature Seasgair dining experience an absolute triumph. The staff couldn’t have been friendlier and were happy to help with anything during our stay.

United StatesThe breakfast buffet was nice but was difficult to reach items on the cold buffet bar. it was on a large round table and items in the middle were difficult to reach without reaching over over food items. Also did not like the multiple notes before the stay in attempts to up-sell services the castle were providing.
It was nice to be able to stay a night in a historic castle.
