Each review score is between 1-10. To get the overall score that you see, we add up all the review scores we’ve received and divide that total by the number of review scores we’ve received. We are currently testing a weighted review system in Malta, Iceland, Australia, Greece, Brazil and North Carolina. For properties in these regions, the more recent the review, the bigger the impact on the total review score calculation. In addition, guests can give separate ‘subscores’ in crucial areas, such as location, cleanliness, staff, comfort, facilities, value for money and free Wi-Fi. Note that guests submit their subscores and their overall scores independently, so there’s no direct link between them.
You can review an Accommodation that you booked through our Platform if you stayed there or if you arrived at the property but didn’t actually stay there. To edit a review you’ve already submitted, please contact our Customer Service team.
We have people and automated systems that specialise in detecting fake reviews submitted to our Platform. If we find any, we delete them and, if necessary, take action against whoever is responsible.
Anyone else who spots something suspicious can always report it to our Customer Service team, so our Fraud team can investigate.
Ideally, we would publish every review we receive, whether positive or negative. However, we won’t display any review that includes or refers to (among other things):
To make sure reviews are relevant, we may only accept reviews that are submitted within 3 months of checking out, and we may stop showing reviews once they’re 36 months old – or if the Accommodation has a change of ownership.
An Accommodation may choose to reply to a review.
When you see multiple reviews, the most recent ones will be at the top, subject to a few other factors (what language a review is in, whether it’s just a rating or contains comments as well, etc.). If you like, you can sort and/or filter them (by time of year, review score, etc.).
We sometimes show external review scores from other well-known travel websites. We make it clear when we’ve done this.
These guidelines and standards aim to keep the content on Booking.com relevant and family-friendly without limiting expression of strong opinions. They are also applicable regardless of the sentiment of the comment.
Contributions should be travel related. The most helpful contributions are detailed and help others make better decisions. Please don’t include personal, political, ethical, or religious commentary. Promotional content will be removed and issues concerning Booking.com’s services should be routed to our Customer Service or Accommodation Service teams.
Contributions should be appropriate for a global audience. Please avoid using profanity or attempts to approximate profanity with creative spelling, in any language. Comments and media that include 'hate speech', discriminatory remarks, threats, sexually explicit remarks, violence, and the promotion of illegal activity are not permitted.
All content should be genuine and unique to the guest. Reviews are most valuable when they are original and unbiased. Your contribution should be yours. Booking.com property partners should not post on behalf of guests or offer incentives in exchange for reviews. Attempts to bring down the rating of a competitor by submitting a negative review will not be tolerated.
Respect the privacy of others. Booking.com will make an effort to obscure email addresses, telephone numbers, website addresses, social media accounts, and similar details.
The opinions expressed in contributions are those of Booking.com customers and properties and not of Booking.com. Booking.com does not accept responsibility or liability for any reviews or responses. Booking.com is a distributor (without any obligation to verify) and not a publisher of these comments and responses.
By default, reviews are sorted based on the date of the review and on additional criteria to display the most relevant reviews, including but not limited to: your language, reviews with text, and non-anonymous reviews. Additional sorting options may be available (by type of traveller, by score, etc.).

United KingdomRoom 4 next to the front door is noisy and the vibration from the door banging kept me awake for hours, even with the earplugs. The bed should be on another wall or some insulation e g large padded headboard.
Very clean and I felt safe.

AustraliaThe stairs, I was traveling internationally so had heavy bags, the stairs were very tight but people offered to help (might have been staff) which really makes this negative a positive.
Location, this property was perfect for just about anything in Brighton.

United KingdomI was quite surprised upon arrival to find that my room was in the basement. This was not mentioned as a possibility when I booked, as I was only given the option to choose between a sea view or no view. I feel this is something that should have been made clear during the booking process, as it affected my experience.
the room was clean, the bed was comfortable, and the service was great.

United KingdomThe only staff I met was a plumber - would be better to see a human. I was on the top floor with a huge suitcase. Carrying 30kg up 3 flights of narrow stairs was an issue. If I'd known there was no lift, I wouldn't have booked. The doors all had key codes, no actual keys or cards. I feel more secure as a solo traveller if I can actually lock the door and know it's secure.
Very clean Good location

United Arab Emirates1. As it’s right by the beach, seagulls will wake you up at 5 am. 2. The street gets noisy on the weekend and overall the soundproof is bad in the building. 3. Price. Quite expensive but still was the cheapest option when I booked it.
1. Staff. Very accommodating and friendly receptionist. He helped with bags and let me check in earlier. 2. The room was clean and has its own bathroom. 3. It’s 5 minutes walk from the beach.

United KingdomThe toilet was broken in our room, flush was damaged. We let the staff member on shift know and they quickly went to check it for us. It worked once and then stopped again, maintenance was made aware but could only come after we had left. Because of the locks on the room doors they slam loudly when closed, could hear others slamming through the day/night, light sleepers may find disturbing. Recommend contacting the hotel directly if you have accessibility issues, we had a room on the top floor so lots of stairs
Staff member we spoke to was lovely, and the location and value for money was great. Bed was comfortable and a fan was already in the room to help with the warm weather. You can tell the staff and owners care about the guests, items in the room and layout was well thought out. Great access to plug sockets/ mirrors. Really clean room and bathroom. Mini fridge in the room was a welcome bonus.

United KingdomThe apartment could get quite stuffy and warm at times, but there was air conditioning provided anyway, which worked really well. Plus, we had the patio doors open all the time during the day.
It was a lovely, cosy apartment, with a patio, which was great for getting fresh air. Apartment had everything we needed, and in a great location.

IrelandThe sink needed a little bit of attention as the taps were a bit tough. Not so much of a dislike but it was a hot day and night when we visited and although the room had a desk fan it was very hot and sticky due to lack of air flow. Just bear in mind if visiting during hot weather.
The guesthouse was in a great location close to the sea front, shops and other amenities. Bed was comfortable, nice shower and decor. TV and tea and coffee all fine. Good room for a quick stay in Brighton.

United KingdomLack of storage for clothes only a few hangers nothing else so had to keep most stuff in suitcase. Odd smell from the bathroom. My main issue was the slamming of the front door wakes you up every time. I was woken up all night with other users slamming the front door. Very very loud and annoying as I had bad sleep from this. Maybe a sign needed to tell others to close door slowly or invest in a slow closing door. Don’t recommend staying if you’re a light sleeper like myself. Given coffee tea, however no sugars given. Bed side lamp however wasn’t working on my side, the ceiling light looked like it had mold on the outside. Pluming and drainage issues with the bathroom, is also very noisy.
Really easy to book, great communication from the admin team always quick with replies and super helpful. Check-in also very easy with the number code on each door. Room decoration was lovely and bed was very comfy. Supply a hairdryer and iron which was great also a fridge. Amazing location with shops being seen from room and the beach is at the end of the road.

United KingdomBathroom was quite small but this is expected.
Really nice decor in our room that was a decent size, with a small yet suitably sized bathroom. The location is absolutely perfect, getting you to the seafront in 2 mins or the lanes in 10. Our room was top floor and we came during a heatwave, but luckily a fan was provided and switched on for us prior to check-in which was a huge help. Check in and out was easy with codes given before stay, staff seemed friendly when we did see them which was a rarity, but there if needed. Room had a fridge which was a great touch, aswell as having Netflix on the TV. Wi-Fi was good and fast.

United KingdomWe stayed in room 12 and there was a horrible Sulfur smell coming from the bathroom which replicated rotten eggs. We just blamed the smell on being on the top floor and by the sea but the shower head would also not sit in the stand and constantly fall off, making it difficult to shower. There was also no rubbish bin in our bedroom but one small bin the bathroom.
Amazing location! Very close to the pier and Aquarian and on the other side plenty of shops, cafes and bars. Great check in process as well, very easy to access the rooms.
