To get the overall score that you see, we add up all the review scores we’ve received and divide that total by the number of review scores we’ve received. We're currently testing a weighted review system in Malta and Iceland (excluding hotel and vacation rental chains). For properties in these countries, the more recent the review, the bigger the impact on the total review score calculation. In addition, guests can give separate "subscores" in crucial areas, such as location, cleanliness, staff, comfort, facilities, value for money, and free Wifi. Note that guests submit their subscores and their overall scores independently, so there’s no direct link between them.
You can review an accommodation that you booked through our platform if you stayed there, or if you got to the property but didn’t actually stay there. To edit a review you’ve already submitted, contact our Customer Service team.
We have people and automated systems that specialize in detecting fake reviews submitted to our platform. If we find any, we delete them and, if necessary, take action against whoever is responsible.
Anyone who spots something suspicious can always report it to our Customer Service team so that our fraud team can investigate.
Ideally, we'd publish every review we get, positive and negative. However, we won’t display any reviews that include or refer to (among other things):

When you see multiple reviews, the most recent ones will be at the top, subject to a few other factors (e.g. language, whether it’s just a rating or contains comments as well, etc.). You can sort and/or filter them by time of year, review score, and more.
Sometimes we show external review scores from other well-known travel websites, but make it clear when we do this.

United KingdomThe older staff members (most of whom seemed to be locals) could have been more congenial, the younger staff members (most of whom seemed to be foreign nationals, maybe students) seemed keener to help and more courteous. That said, I've also said that the hotel met my expectations, given that my expectations were not high for a hotel that is part of a chain and is very much in the budget category for a city centre location. We didn't order breakfast because the additional cost seemed a little too high, just for breakfast. Next morning we asked if we could just have coffee... and they said we could, but only if we sat somewhere other than in the breakfast room, which persuaded us to change our mind, as there was nowhere else to sit that was convenient. There was no phone in the room, but details were provided as to how to contat staff via 'What's-app'... all very well, but not everyone is on 'What's-app' and I'm not happy with service provider assumptions as regards customer compliability with technology. The WiFi worked, but was slow and didn't 'seem' entirely secure, we did what we had to do online but didn't linger. We didn't feel inspired to leave a tip.
Well-sized room, just large enough. Quiet and clean. Very modern, clean bathroom. Firm but very comfortable bed, no problems getting to sleep, slept right through until morning without disturbance. No refrigerator, which we had hoped for because we needed to store my wife's insulin injector, but the staff provided space in the hotel's main refrigerator for that purpose.

Room was a bit small with no view but we expected that as it was quite cheap but it was clean. Breakfast was good and plenty of choice. Location was good as a first time visitor to Liverpool.
