Unable to store a pedal bicycle (as I arrived by bike) but I’d suggest majority of clientele are not cyclists…

Location was great, with short walk into town centre. Rooms was very clean and comfortable.

With the one (modest) exception noted above, our experience was once again excellent.

The shower in our room (200) was below standard. The water spray was so slight that a decent shower was impossible. It may be that water conservation was a factor but if so, this commendable commitment to environmental challenges went a little too far.

Everything went well with the single exception noted below.

There is literally very little to dislike. The only problem we encountered was an extremely strong spring on the bedroom door mechanism which trapped my hand quite sharply. This is not indicative of all room doors as we have stayed in other rooms previously and not noticed any problems.

Gardens remain wonderful and well maintained. Breakfast selection is unmatched, Reception staff go the extra mile to be helpful and recharged a phone for us when we had forgotten a charger.

We had an issue with room at night, there was a noise this kept us up two nights in a row. We were not moved the first night. So the second might it happened again. It was investigated by the manager and there was an issue with a water tank. After discussions with the management they eventually agreed to a partial refund.

The hotel is in a good location at the beach. The rooms are nice and comfortable. The bathrooms are clean. There is a kettle and mini fridge in the rooms. The actual hotel has really old fashioned feel to it, old decor but all well kept and looked after. The breakfast was nice and the hot breakfast was table service which was great for a lot of the older clients as they did not need to keep getting up to get tea , coffee and hot food. The pasties were not that great though. Staff were nice

Shower did not produce more than a dribble of water and being an old hotel it only has one very small and slow lift that only takes 2 people with their luggage and this leads to long queues at times.

Good hotel, staff very friendly and efficient. Nice restaurant. Good quality breakfast. Old fashioned English seaside hotel and I use those words to praise, not criticise: sometimes the old ways are the best eg no ghastly Americanisations and no staff repeatedly saying "No worries". Comfie beds.

The evening meals were very expensive and not a lot of choice. We had to wait an hour for cod and chips and chicken salad. The cod meal we returned as the fish was inedible it was insipid and a very strange wet texture. The salad was very basic with 3 large lettuce leaves 1 large spring onion (unchopped) two tiny tomatoes and a little cucumber plus one chicken breast. So the following evening (my partner's birthday) we ate else where and returned to the hotel bar for a drink .

The breakfast was really good and the roo. Was lovely

Thought the room was a little small but mostly that there wasn't much room the bathroom (shelves for toiletry bags etc.). Could have also done with a Nespresso machine or similar for the price of the room.

Good view and comfy beds and handy fridge. Good breakfast. Dinner was mixed. My meal was good but others in our party were less impressed.

Room was stifling hot! We were on the first floor and no heating on but had to have the windows open all night and the fan on and it was still too hot.

Staff really great, we had a dog and they set up the breakfast table out in the library. Location is good, about a 20 min walk to town or an hour up to Birling Gap. Tea coffee etc in room, ironing board, safe, fan. Nice toiletries in bathroom.

Big hotel accomodating groups of tourists. Speedy service in restaurant gives impression of "focus on fast turnaround of tables". Breakfast was not great: old bread and not freshly made pouched eggs.

Speedy service in very big restaurant. Quality of dinner was good, but all seems to be focussed on fast turnaround of tables.

My shower was barely more than a spray and difficult to have a proper shower. ( very old fashioned ) room 304 To get a taxi a phone is allotted in the reception to the local taxi company and we rang it for 10 + minutes without pickup. ended up ordering an Uber by luck it came as normally they don't operate in the area. Not enough plugs in the room. The washed cups made the tea/coffee taste and smell horrible.

We had a side view room, it was okay, nothing stunning Breakfast was very good, plenty of options and the staff were pleasant. The room was clean with all the amenities you needed and very comfortable.
