Each review score is between 1-10. To get the overall score that you see, we add up all the review scores we’ve received and divide that total by the number of review scores we’ve received. We are currently testing a weighted review system in Malta, Iceland, Australia, Greece, Brazil and North Carolina. For properties in these regions, the more recent the review, the bigger the impact on the total review score calculation. In addition, guests can give separate ‘subscores’ in crucial areas, such as location, cleanliness, staff, comfort, facilities, value for money and free Wi-Fi. Note that guests submit their subscores and their overall scores independently, so there’s no direct link between them.
You can review an Accommodation that you booked through our Platform if you stayed there or if you arrived at the property but didn’t actually stay there. To edit a review you’ve already submitted, please contact our Customer Service team.
We have people and automated systems that specialise in detecting fake reviews submitted to our Platform. If we find any, we delete them and, if necessary, take action against whoever is responsible.
Anyone else who spots something suspicious can always report it to our Customer Service team, so our Fraud team can investigate.
Ideally, we would publish every review we receive, whether positive or negative. However, we won’t display any review that includes or refers to (among other things):
To make sure reviews are relevant, we may only accept reviews that are submitted within 3 months of checking out, and we may stop showing reviews once they’re 36 months old – or if the Accommodation has a change of ownership.
An Accommodation may choose to reply to a review.
When you see multiple reviews, the most recent ones will be at the top, subject to a few other factors (what language a review is in, whether it’s just a rating or contains comments as well, etc.). If you like, you can sort and/or filter them (by time of year, review score, etc.).
We sometimes show external review scores from other well-known travel websites. We make it clear when we’ve done this.

PortugalThe appartmant was more small that I expected and the kitchen utensils were very poor and insufficient for some meals (there was no can opener, the cooking knife was very weak, etc.). Also, the fire alarm started ringing for no apparent reason, we informed reception who said someone would come and see what was going on, and no one ever came to our apartment.

Location was excellent! Two mins from Bayswater tube station. Useful to have kitchen, table and chairs. Comfy beds. Room enough for 4 people.

United KingdomWe had an apartment that was 4 flights of stairs with no lift, which was unexpected, so we had to carry our luggage up. The room was really hot, we had several fans which helped but no air conditioning, however the downstairs room was much cooler.. Lastly our building was along the street from the main reception and there individuals hanging around outside our building door. Whilst the door was secured by access card, we were three females alone (one young teenager), so it was a bit unnerving, but we didn't feel unsafe just a bit uneasy.
Location, reception staff were helpful and friendly, apartment was clean and well decorated/furnished. Communal areas were nice. Layout of the apartment was good. We had a main room with small kitchen, with fridge and oven, a bathroom, and little living area with two beds. Then a small hallway with stairs down to a double bedroom.

United KingdomOk, there were some things less than perfect - mainly, the HEAT. While it's not the hotel's fault, there were no ACs and the fan provided was very weak (we didn't know we could ask for a second one) - pointed at the bed, on highest setting, fully oscillating - it wasn't even making it to the further side, leaving one of us a lot hotter than the other. We were unlucky to arrive at the end of a 33 C° day and despite the open window, we couldn't really sleep properly the first night. A stronger fan would have definitely helped! With bigger heatwaves every year, better cooling options will be more and more necessary. In the same vein, the bedding was nice and warm...which we couldn't tolerate unfortunately, so we used the bed sheet as a cover instead if we needed it at all (there are cooler materials for summer bedding that would probably work better). But I bet it's lovely in cooler weather! So mind the temperature. Ok these are just little things, not real complaints: we knew there was no elevator in the building but we also thought it would be just a single flight of stairs...imagine my shock when we were on the 3rd or 4th floor! So just be aware, that's all, could be more steps than you expected (or hoped for). The view was nice though, as an upside. There was no sponge to wash dishes with (or at least we didn't find it) but we did our best. That's about it!
The friendliest staff imaginable (5 stars for everyone), kitchen was stocked well with appliances and had a fridge with a little freezer which was perfect to make ice with for cold water in the heat. TV had loads of channels, the sofa and mattress were comfortable. The light fixtures were very atmospheric. There was also an iron with an ironing board which came in extremely handy! The location? Amazing! A minute away from Hyde park, a short walk to High street Kensington, a minute away from several supermarkets and several tube/bus stops. Close to many embassies (the main reason we came), and also - the Natural history museum and also loads and loads of other famous places and things to do. We would definitely return and highly recommend!

Towel rail boiling hot and no option to turn it off (would have been useful to turn it down/off as we were in London on one of the hottest days of the year and the apartment was really warm!)

ItalyUnfortunately, we were on the last floor, so it was pretty hot and difficult to reach with no lift. We found a damaged bed, but the staff had been immediately helpful and changed it for us.
Mainly the location and the kichenette was pretty accessorised. The staff was more than welcome to help us in case of any need.
