Each review score is between 1-10. To get the overall score that you see, we add up all the review scores we’ve received and divide that total by the number of review scores we’ve received. We are currently testing a weighted review system in Malta and Iceland (excluding hotel and vacation rental chains). For properties in these countries, the more recent the review, the bigger the impact on the total review score calculation. In addition, guests can give separate ‘subscores’ in crucial areas, such as location, cleanliness, staff, comfort, facilities, value for money and free Wi-Fi. Note that guests submit their subscores and their overall scores independently, so there’s no direct link between them.
You can review an Accommodation that you booked through our Platform if you stayed there or if you arrived at the property but didn’t actually stay there. To edit a review you’ve already submitted, please contact our Customer Service team.
We have people and automated systems that specialise in detecting fake reviews submitted to our Platform. If we find any, we delete them and, if necessary, take action against whoever is responsible.
Anyone else who spots something suspicious can always report it to our Customer Service team, so our Fraud team can investigate.
Ideally, we would publish every review we receive, whether positive or negative. However, we won’t display any review that includes or refers to (among other things):
To make sure reviews are relevant, we may only accept reviews that are submitted within 3 months of checking out, and we may stop showing reviews once they’re 36 months old – or if the Accommodation has a change of ownership.
An Accommodation may choose to reply to a review.
When you see multiple reviews, the most recent ones will be at the top, subject to a few other factors (what language a review is in, whether it’s just a rating or contains comments as well, etc.). If you like, you can sort and/or filter them (by time of year, review score, etc.).
We sometimes show external review scores from other well-known travel websites. We make it clear when we’ve done this.
These guidelines and standards aim to keep the content on Booking.com relevant and family-friendly without limiting expression of strong opinions. They are also applicable regardless of the sentiment of the comment.
Contributions should be travel related. The most helpful contributions are detailed and help others make better decisions. Please don’t include personal, political, ethical, or religious commentary. Promotional content will be removed and issues concerning Booking.com’s services should be routed to our Customer Service or Accommodation Service teams.
Contributions should be appropriate for a global audience. Please avoid using profanity or attempts to approximate profanity with creative spelling, in any language. Comments and media that include 'hate speech', discriminatory remarks, threats, sexually explicit remarks, violence, and the promotion of illegal activity are not permitted.
All content should be genuine and unique to the guest. Reviews are most valuable when they are original and unbiased. Your contribution should be yours. Booking.com property partners should not post on behalf of guests or offer incentives in exchange for reviews. Attempts to bring down the rating of a competitor by submitting a negative review will not be tolerated.
Respect the privacy of others. Booking.com will make an effort to obscure email addresses, telephone numbers, website addresses, social media accounts, and similar details.
The opinions expressed in contributions are those of Booking.com customers and properties and not of Booking.com. Booking.com does not accept responsibility or liability for any reviews or responses. Booking.com is a distributor (without any obligation to verify) and not a publisher of these comments and responses.
By default, reviews are sorted based on the date of the review and on additional criteria to display the most relevant reviews, including but not limited to: your language, reviews with text, and non-anonymous reviews. Additional sorting options may be available (by type of traveller, by score, etc.).

Good location, good showers. Some of the staff were really friendly (some were just indifferent). Was really clean and they make your bed, which is great. Kitchen with all facilities and free food containers where you can leave something to share with others.

GermanyA small downside is the pillows—they're not very comfortable.
I've stayed here three times and always feel safe and comfortable. It's important to remember that this is a hostel, so don't expect hotel standards, but for the price, it's fantastic. The atmosphere is welcoming, and the lobby is cozy. There are plenty of showers and toilets, so you never have to wait. The location is excellent.

FranceThe room didn't have enough space to organize luggage and belongins, and I feel like the cleanings of the shower could have been done more often.
I loved the concept of staying in a woman only hostel, I felt very comfortable. The location is very close to metro and supermarkets as well. Staff was helpful.

New ZealandThe storage cages under the bed were a little difficult to get into, but not a massive bother. There were some things around the property that needed a little TLC: both a shelf and a bench broke while I was there. But staff were responsive and most things looked to be in good condition.
I really appreciated how clean and quiet this place was! Everyone was respectful, and the property set good expectations around things like quiet hours. They had people cleaning the kitchens every morning, so it was in pristine condition. Dormitory rooms always feel like a bit of a squeeze, but these were really good value for the money, the beds were comfortable, and there were plentiful bathrooms. It's also a very short distance to the tube station so it was very easy to get around the city, and it's even walkable to some places if you're a big walker like I am. The neighbourhood has fantastic food options also.

SwedenThe room was not extremely clean, but the main problem was the light that came in from the windows. The shades don’t really do their job and I woke up because of the light before 8am every morning.
Best showers I’ve ever found in a hostel. Great location, close to the underground and different buss stops. Amazing that it is a women only hostel, made me feel extremely safe!

SwitzerlandThe lockers under the beds caused a lot of noise in the morning and evenings because they bump and rattle. I didn't like that the key card had all the information to get into the building and the room - I worried that if someone dropped their card and a stranger found it they would be able to get in. It would be better if the key cards didn't say the name of the hostel on. That way if someone loses it it doesn't matter.
The beds were comfortable and private. I liked the space to work and eat and I liked that we had a fridge. The staff were really nice and the toilets and showers were clean. I had everything I needed there; they even provided period products in the bathrooms.

New ZealandThis was going to be a 10 out of 10 review but unfortunately two things happened that spoilt that. My dri-towel, a gift from my daughter, was removed from my bunk by staff during cleaning, and not returned. My food was cleared out of the fridge on my first day, even though I had labeled it all correctly. This meant I had to replace it, causing me further expense. Everything else was perfect.
I loved the vibe, woman only, what a great concept. The daily activities list, fantastic for solo travellers. I was not there long enough to take advantage of these.

South AfricaThe rooms get a bit stuffy when the aircons are not switched on from time to time. One cannot sit upright in the bunk beds. The cages for locking away personal belongings are a bit impractical (you have to pull the whole cage out from underneath the beds in order to open them fully), but still functional. You can hear the trains rumble nearby from time to time, although this was not a huge bother.
Very clean, well looked after, nicely decorated. Felt safe on the premises. People were respectful of eachother. Nice hostel activities every evening that guests could partake in (movie night, painting, dinner evening, etc.). Literally a block away from the central tube line! This was a huge bonus. The street has supermarkets and fast food restaurants. I was concerned by the neighbouring pubs, but they were not at all a bother. Lastly, I was concerned about the recent violence in the Bethnal Green area. I did feel like I had to watch my back from time to time, stayed in Bethnal Green for a week. But I was safe and sound, only going to the Hostelle, the trainstation and the nearest grocery store.

United KingdomI had one of my food items go missing in the fridge and it could get a bit messy as other guests didn't use containers for open food... I didn't have much space for shopping as we share only 1 fridge so I spent money on dry goods. 1 of the oven hobs was not working but the rest was fine they had a microwave and a mini oven which seemed a bit complicated to use at first. My room was 6 beds in a very small room it was impossible to pull out storage cage for each person so maybe they should make it 4beds instead so we all have space to store our stuff without overcrowding floor area. I wish the windows opened at the top and bottom so we had better airflow in summer for bedrooms.
I liked that the kitchen linked to reception & TV area, they had outside benches to sit on which was good as I came in summer. The staff were very friendly and shops like Iceland and Tesco were within walking distance. The bed was super comfy and we had curtains for each bed. I liked that the showers were spacious and had shelves as other hostels don't often have this + most showers I have been in felt like a coffin. They had toilets separate from showers on my level which I liked and they had spare sanitation items on display in case any women needed to use, the main thing was in bedrooms and showers they had hooks to hang your towels or clothes etc. This made it easy to carry bath bag / cosmetic bag between rooms without leaving it on the floor or something like that.
