Each review score is between 1-10. To get the overall score that you see, we add up all the review scores we’ve received and divide that total by the number of review scores we’ve received. We are currently testing a weighted review system in Malta and Iceland (excluding hotel and vacation rental chains). For properties in these countries, the more recent the review, the bigger the impact on the total review score calculation. In addition, guests can give separate ‘subscores’ in crucial areas, such as location, cleanliness, staff, comfort, facilities, value for money and free Wi-Fi. Note that guests submit their subscores and their overall scores independently, so there’s no direct link between them.
You can review an Accommodation that you booked through our Platform if you stayed there or if you arrived at the property but didn’t actually stay there. To edit a review you’ve already submitted, please contact our Customer Service team.
We have people and automated systems that specialise in detecting fake reviews submitted to our Platform. If we find any, we delete them and, if necessary, take action against whoever is responsible.
Anyone else who spots something suspicious can always report it to our Customer Service team, so our Fraud team can investigate.
Ideally, we would publish every review we receive, whether positive or negative. However, we won’t display any review that includes or refers to (among other things):
To make sure reviews are relevant, we may only accept reviews that are submitted within 3 months of checking out, and we may stop showing reviews once they’re 36 months old – or if the Accommodation has a change of ownership.
An Accommodation may choose to reply to a review.
When you see multiple reviews, the most recent ones will be at the top, subject to a few other factors (what language a review is in, whether it’s just a rating or contains comments as well, etc.). If you like, you can sort and/or filter them (by time of year, review score, etc.).
We sometimes show external review scores from other well-known travel websites. We make it clear when we’ve done this.
These guidelines and standards aim to keep the content on Booking.com relevant and family-friendly without limiting expression of strong opinions. They are also applicable regardless of the sentiment of the comment.
Contributions should be travel related. The most helpful contributions are detailed and help others make better decisions. Please don’t include personal, political, ethical, or religious commentary. Promotional content will be removed and issues concerning Booking.com’s services should be routed to our Customer Service or Accommodation Service teams.
Contributions should be appropriate for a global audience. Please avoid using profanity or attempts to approximate profanity with creative spelling, in any language. Comments and media that include 'hate speech', discriminatory remarks, threats, sexually explicit remarks, violence, and the promotion of illegal activity are not permitted.
All content should be genuine and unique to the guest. Reviews are most valuable when they are original and unbiased. Your contribution should be yours. Booking.com property partners should not post on behalf of guests or offer incentives in exchange for reviews. Attempts to bring down the rating of a competitor by submitting a negative review will not be tolerated.
Respect the privacy of others. Booking.com will make an effort to obscure email addresses, telephone numbers, website addresses, social media accounts, and similar details.
The opinions expressed in contributions are those of Booking.com customers and properties and not of Booking.com. Booking.com does not accept responsibility or liability for any reviews or responses. Booking.com is a distributor (without any obligation to verify) and not a publisher of these comments and responses.
By default, reviews are sorted based on the date of the review and on additional criteria to display the most relevant reviews, including but not limited to: your language, reviews with text, and non-anonymous reviews. Additional sorting options may be available (by type of traveller, by score, etc.).

NetherlandsThere is a huge issue to drain water no matter in the sinks or shower rooms. Water is everywhere. Two layers Bed frame is not solid enough. Whole bed is moving when people roll over

MalaysiaI dont like the storage for your luggages and belongings. It can be seen through and cannot fit my medium sized luggage.
I like the bunk bed. It has several hooks that are convenient to hang your clothes because not all bunk bed has that.

SerbiaSome maintenance is needed. In one shower handle was broken. My locker was not working and I couldn't lock it, so I switched to another one. They mentioned that they would fix it, but that didn't happy. Luck is that almost always there were only 3 girls in room and other lockers were working. In the upper floor (when I used before after checkout), toilet seat was broken. Pub is near, and some noise is coming from it.
Check-in was simple. They let me leave my bags before as I arrived before check in. I was in basement room for 4 people (lollypop room). This room was ok, you could hear bar that is next door to the hostel but it wasn't too noisy. You have curtain around bed, so there is enough privacy. Next to you there is a small lamp (for reading), shelf to put some of your stuff. Under the bed there are big lockers, where even bigger suitcases can be placed. They make a bit of noise when dragged on the floor, but not to much (they have wheels). There are toilets and showers on this floor and they were not occupied, I always could find some free. They were mostly clean. In the kitchen area there is big fridge and there was enough space to store my food. Metro station is near.

CanadaAs mentioned in some other reviews, the shared facilities were a little small feeling (kitchen, lounge etc) This meant that there were times when they got a little crowded. Also as others mentioned the underbed lockers were loud and cumbersome to use, although i appreciated how large they were. A few little things here and there - my bunk was very creaky and there was no shelf on the wall like in others. Toilet seat in the bathroom on my floor was very loose. The laundry facilities unfortunately were not available while I was there (although laundrette 5 min walk away so not a very big deal).
Great spot. The staff were all friendly and professional (although some may want to be aware that there were some male staff working during my stay. Not an issue for me personally but could be for others.) Everything was clean and it felt very safe there both in terms of myself and my belongings. The location was also great, very short walk to a tube station on the central line. The bed was comfortable and the pillow was better than ones I've had in many hotels. I definitely did not get party hostel vibes. There were planned activities for guests, however it did seem like most people kept to themselves. It was nice to see a great mix of ages, nationalities etc.

GermanyThe kitchen area didn’t have a kettle which was very inconvenient. The beds in my room were placed in a way that we could only access 4 out of 6 lockers under them, fortunately the room wasn’t full and no one needed to leave their luggage unsecured. My bed was also by the heater, which meant there was a sizeable gap between the bed and the wall, i was concerned my pillow or other things would fall down.
The showers were very nice, and the bathrooms and overall rooms were clean. The beds were big enough and had multiple outlets.

United StatesThe room was cramped. There were lockers but the storage crates for the suitcases were awkward and inconvenient. Some pegs would have been good. The front desk staff person at night time was a man. He was very nice. I just think that people should be aware of that so that they can dress accordingly. For example a woman was about to go into the communal area in her short night clothes and jumped back when she saw him.
All cities should have at least one women's only hostel. What a great idea. I liked the donated food bins. Great location just one stop from Liverpool station. Lots of stores near by. Safe area.

United KingdomOne morning there was a lady from Malaysia asking about the policy for a refund should she shorten her trip. She was not complaining, but enquiring, however she was using the word "plan" instead of "policy" as she was conducting the entire conversion English, not her first language. The person on reception ended up getting a bit short with her, and made no effort to slow their speech or use different terms. It was purely a question of language, and the guest making the enquiry was doing everything she could to explain herself, in what was actually very good English considering her own language is not even remotely connected in terms of roots.. I feel better training could be provided regarding guests whose first language is not English, just in terms of adjusting the way staff phrase things rather than getting frustrated, as it is going to be a common occurrence in a hostel that guests are from different countries and don't always speak English as well as the particular guest in question here. The person on reception was actually very polite and helpful to me personally, so I do think it's just a question of training (and ever so slightly, attitude). I was able to understand what the guest was enquiring about a long time before it was finally resolved, she was simply using one word differently, but with a little working out, friendly and effective communication is possible, especially when the guest in question is actually speaking English to a good level.
Staff were friendly, efficient and helpful to me, the place is always clean, cooking facilities are good and there are plenty of good, hot showers. Beds comfy.

Very nice hostel, you can see that a lot of thought has gone into the design. Particularly liked the curtains on the bunk beds to give you privacy. Was grateful that my request for a bunk bed was met. For such a busy hostel it was relatively clean.

DenmarkThere was an issue with my door and it took over 30 min late at night for me to get into the room and the night porter was perhaps not as knowledgeable as he could have been. He insisted the door had been locked from the inside, but there is no lock on the inside. The other people in the room clearly knew as they kept the door open with personal items. In other words, the problem was ongoing. I think the hostel could be faster with repairs. Also please quickly train your night staff at printing invoices - can't be that complicated :)
I've come here several times. It's very clean, the beds are comfortable and you get your privacy by the curtains by each bed. It's very safe here too.
